Hot and PoF expac question

I heard the news of players getting HoT for free if they just own PoF. I just own HoT and notice that PoF and HoT are the same price. I am just wondering the reason, if any, that accounts with HoT does not get PoF for free? Thank you for your answer in advance.

I think because PoF is the new expac...and you've been technically able to play HoT...for what, 4 years?

 

 

This is to encourage people who were on the fence with buying an expac.

 

It's not that different to buying a mattress, and then 6 months later, there's an offer of getting that mattress free if you get the bed.

You're not suddenly able to go get the bed for free, just because you've previously bought a mattress

appreciate the feed back and not being negative about it at all. I was just wondering general

Are they both the same price? I thought previously, you could add Heart of Thorns for $20; I didn't think you could even purchase HoT separately.
