kharmin.7683
Perhaps their marketing data shows that trend?
XatraZaytrax.2601
I talk all the time in chat. I love to share silly insights, answer questions, and step into others conversations--just because. When people talk back, it makes me happy, makes the world alive. I also think it balances some of the toxic spewing.
thepenmonster.3621
I see all sorts of chatting in the starter zones
DietPepsi.4371
I socialise a lot in game, and have had a great many conversations over the last couple of months. Haven't been on GW2 a lot this month because I've been playing Forza Horizon 4 though. =)
Vasdamas Anklast.1607
It's not just GW2, it's all other MMORPGs as well.

Chyanne Waters.8719
You will get kicked off this game within a certain amount of time of inactivity. Chatting is considered inactivity unfortunately. Not saying people should not be sociable when they can, but like many others hard to type and play so that may be some of the reason. Hope you find a good balance in it

I have a full time job, am a parent, have a second job plus things that my kid needs shuttling back and forth. I have precious few hours in the week that I can "dedicate" to GW2, so when I am online, I play what I want with the build that I want. I know that I will never have the time to commit to "git gud" in competitive play, and honestly I don't really care for that arena. Likewise for raiding. I would probably find it boring to copy a meta build, learn a rotation and just do it. To me, there is no creativity there; it would feel more like yet another job to me. So, yeah, playing what I want in OWPvE and trying not to upset the more serious players (I main a ranger and am VERY well aware of how/when to use knockback).
