Arannya.8324
Cripple during Locus Swarm is just gone, no notes in the patch or on Wiki - am I blind or is this a recent change? Thx
Josiah.2967
Focus and Warhorn were nerfed to the point of being irrelevant. The choice really comes down to: 1. Do I need additional CC -> Warhorn 2. Do I need additional stripping -> Focus They ruined the abilities.
Arannya.8324
Yes but that's not what I am asking. There's no notes regarding this nerf unless I am missing something?

Arannya.8324
Really? October 15, 2013 - Increased the base cripple duration to 2 seconds. This is the only thing I can find regarding cripple...

They replaced cripple with life steal. They did mentioned it, but somehow didn't made it on the patch notes.

Thx if you missed a balance update that included necromancer, just expect 99% nerfs and maybe 1 buff to the power build because when it comes to Anet balancing necros, ITS NERF OR NOTHING

Well actually if you read the skill description, cripple should still be there - it is clearly stated in "Notes: Applies the Locus Swarm effect." I read the life steal part but it is unrelated to cripple and there is no mention of this being removed in patch... it really makes no sense. In GW2, in order to apply cripple, the skill has to deal damage. Since the damage part is replaced with life steal, the cripple will not trigger, thus it was consequently removed. Cripple & Bleed 0 initial dmg, unless they count the bleed ticks after (if they land) as damage

Cripple & Bleed 0 initial dmg, unless they count the bleed ticks after (if they land) as damage Exceptions do exists since consistency is not ArenaNet's strong suit, but if you look at the majority of skills that applies Cripple, the skill has to deal damage. KrHome.1920
In short: the skill got a rework a long time ago and the rework is worse than the old mechanic: no cripple, no crits, reduced range, useless life leech. It has only one meaningful purpose at the moment and this is provide swiftness to non speed of shadows builds. It synergizes well with spectral walk and rune of speed on spite/curses/reaper builds. The speed rune compensates the non existent range compared to focus. Wail of Doom got some value because stability is nerfed on all classes and so it can actually daze targets - something we haven't seen for a few years. :p
