Oooh thanks for that tidbit, shall look into that. I completely ended up missing Dragon Bash this year due to real life stuff so I'll poke around for dialogue >.>

I just think it would be freaking hilarious if Jormag - or even just Drakkar - turned out to be female (with the whole Sons of Svanir thing and their anti-female stance)

    > Having this same issue. Bugged at 6/8 siege engines. I'm not sure, but I believe it may be because we had destroyed 2 when on the "Survey the battlefield around Gandara." step with the micro cloud ability when going to scout the area on top of the hill.

I can confirm that, actually! We went back and attempted it again and when I saw where all of the map markers were, I did recall that we ended up getting annoyed at one of the catapults on the hill when we were up there before.

    > So! We finally got our trailer, and it looks pretty amazing. Aside from the puns and jibe at (grumpy) Braham, it is very clearly Inquest-centric. What little we see of the new map, seems to be another arid biome; so perhaps Kourna or Dajkah?

    > And the 'Fear not this Night' number definitely gave me goosebumps, so perhaps we can expect a very significant event (a death?) among our ragtag crew.

    > Lastly, Joko's portrait definitely signifies something. Maybe that he is still missing (or worse)? It reminds me of one those pictures one places on a grave of a loved one during their funeral.

    > I know I am hyped, and I can't wait for next week, but I would love to hear your thoughts and speculations.

Joko's portrait also moves, very minorly, just before the shot ends. And I'm left wondering what the heck that is. Could be that the portrait itself has no relevance whatsoever to the story but is there just as foreshadowing for the trailer, but that and happening with the new song version definitely wigged me out for a second.

  5. Not recalling any reference in GW but...

Ipos is a demon. Earl and Prince of Hell in demonology (one of the 72 demons in the Ars Goetia and one of the 69 in the Pseudomonarchia Daemonum) with many legions under his command. If I remember correctly, he had the ability to reveal the past, present, and future.

  6. In the balance update, they did not release recipes ascended Grieving gear. But they did add in the item that essentially acts like an insignia.

It's called 'Intact Mosaic' and you get them as drops from bounties (I think) but they aren't bound so they are available on the TP right now. I was able to take a full ascended set of armor and weapons and use the Mystic Forge recipe to switch the stats over to Grieving (mosaic + anthology of heroes + 5 ectos + armor/weapon piece). Only thing I don't know about currently is trinkets.

    Checked this out, can verify.

The body at Godslost has a different explanation upon inspecting it, stating outright it was the nearby skeletons that killed it. The one at Lornar's has an additional line about it having the distinct feeling of the Underworld about it but otherwise, the text is the same.

    > They should have cut out the exalted instead of Malyck's story...

Except the Exalted have a role in the theme of Glint's Legacy that's continuing through the game, where Malyck would have been a nice answer to a question but otherwise wouldn't really offer anything to the ongoing storyline considering the current chapter focusing on Sylvari origins is done with.

  9. A Little bit of a thread necro but I wanted to close this up - the Herald of Balthazar is 100% Devona, as we have already well suspected here and in a few other threads.

Watching the [GuildChat from the 13th](

"GuildChatfrom the 13th") at work today, Bobby states that there's an NPC of interest that we meet periodically through the story that was a GW1 character (basically saying it was the Herald without being spoiler-y and naming her) and people have started to theorize about their identity. He said that there is a line that, if not verbatim, is very very close to their dialogue from GW1.

After a bit of rereading the Herald's dialogue, the line he is referring to is "There is little I hold in higher regard than loyalty". The Herald says this in Sparking the Flame and Devona gives this line whilst in outposts/cities in Prophecies.

With the burning scroll clues we already have, that line seems to be the theory confirmation here. This is probably news to no one but I wanted to get this in the thread anyway, if for no other reason than any future forum browsers.

    > >

    > > I'm 85% certain he wasn't there for my asura either, and she walked around and talked to _everyone_ with a green star over their heads.

    >

    > It may also be a matter of who you chose to ally with at the start- the much maligned Sunspear/Joko/independent choice. I chose Sunspears and got Sunspear/Kormir characters, choosing Joko gets Awakened showing up... perhaps choosing independent brings Faren in to fill the blank?

I chose the Sunspears my first time through, and I saw Faren there at the end (on a Norn).

  11. I'm one of the no-mount people and I'm still here.

The mounts themselves were implemented better than I figured they would so that is a plus to their credit even though I'm iffy on the way they handle. I would be mostly unbothered by it if they remained in PoF only maps but it's the fact they are permitted through the rest of core Tyria and HoT and THAT is what still makes me unhappy about them despite the clever way they are utilized.

But they're in the game now and there's no sense in continuing to argue against them. It is what it is.

  12. I would say to focus on doing the more enjoyable ways of getting them to you first.

For ones hidden around the maps, if there are any you can't figure out how to get to I would recommend checking Dulfy.net for her HoT Mastery Point guides. If story is enjoyable for you to do, then go for it. Some of the in-story achievements reward mastery points as well as basic story steps if you haven't done those yet.

Also, there are Adventures that you can do scattered around all of the HoT maps. Getting a silver in those for the first time will reward you one mastery point, and gold gets you two (I looked them all up on YouTube before I did them so that I knew tactics ahead of time so I wasn't just flailing at them for a while). They're marked on your map as little silver icon of a person with a gold flag. The only difficulty is some of them are not available when nearby events are up

  13. This. Or at least give a wider window of time to be able to get back into the instance area.

A friend of mine accidentally fell off the edge of the ledge during the last fight. She didn't even have time to try to get herself back up over the lip before she was kicked (I think from 'oh no I fell' to getting kicked was about 5 seconds), I had to die and we had to start all over again since she couldn't re-enter my instance to finish with me. We were angry about it enough that we had to just log off before giving it another go the next night.

  14. I would love something new, but I wouldn't put any hope on it. Don't quote me, but I believe I read somewhere previously that they weren't intending on spending the resources to do new content for holiday patches other than possibly putting in new items. :/

Which is sad, as I would very much enjoy a Thorn vs Joko year at least once.

  15. Honestly, I hope they never allow people to interact with NPCs such as merchants and TP folks without dismounting. Sometimes it's difficult enough getting the right NPC if there's a small cluster and people are around them enough you can't clearly see - we don't need to add a pile of mounts on top of NPCs either.

I'm not terribly bothered by the 'dismount and remount' mechanic, myself. The only time it slows me down is when I come upon an obstacle I didn't see ahead of time or needed to get closer for, otherwise I switch mounts on the run. Each of my mounts is bound to a different keybind and you can dismount and remount without the need to stop moving. Though if a better interface for switching is done, awesome, that'll definitely be better with a menu option and having to select it if you choose not to keybind. Granted, there's still a 'key to mount, key to dismount, key to mount again' but it's better than having to manually select with the cursor.

I think the dismount/remount needs to be kept, but that's my personal opinion. Not that it's convenient (as it definitely isn't) but it has the potential to be game breaking. Removing that mechanic to where you can seamlessly transition between mounts seems like it is just one of those things that would give the players too much power in moving around maps, and is a control thing. Every MMO that I've played that has mounts requires you to dismount before switching a mount, and likely with good reason from a developer standpoint.

    /unpopular opinion end
