  1. I think I'm inclined to agree. They're just a straight-up story mission replacement. If many of the steps in other story missions had actually been DRMs I think they could've gotten a lot of replayability out of them; steps like the Joko fight or the Kralk fight would work really well.

  2. Bjora Marches is alright.

I love Drizzlewood, apart from siege clogging up my bags. It's very Silverwastes v2 which I like and I love long meta-events.

I was really lukewarm on DRMs at first but honestly they're just a straight up better version of story instances.

What's there is good, it's just very clearly been scaled back because of the expansion.

As far as the story goes I'm not really sure. It does feel undercooked, probably because most of the development resources are going into EOD.

  3. Raids are the absolute last content you should try to sell people GW2 on. I don't think any of these things would really be a good idea, or even strictly necessary.

I think characterizing the community as elitist is completely unfair. There's still a big community of people who want to help out newer players, teach them how their characters work and how to gear, and help them get their foot on the raiding ladder. Yeah, there are some people who aren't friendly to new players - I think these are the minority.

  4. Both of these traits are perfectly fine as they are. Their problems are not related to themselves but to other aspects of the Necromancer.

Blighter's Boon relies heavily on boon generation and Necromancer boon generation is lacklustre at best. If boons were to appear in other places on the Necromancer this trait would be far more popular.

Similarly Deathly Chill is dependent on chill generation and is subsequently impacted by Chilling Darkness's CD.

They're also both perfectly playable traits. I play Deathly Chill in WvW as you do get a ton of Chill against targets with Resistance or Fury, and it's a functional build to blend with Epidemic in PvE. Blighter's Boon suffered with losing the Retal on Axe 3; it's only edged out in Spite/SR/Reaper by Reaper's Onslaught because while it is _functional_ it doesn't outstrip Onslaught when it comes to what kind of goal that build has.

The most I'd do if I wanted to make Blighter's Boon more popular is add some core boon generation.

  5. I like it but would like it more if it was harder, or if the map in general was harder. It feels like there aren't very many mechanics that can actually bust through a Necromancer. The only time I've ever been downed, at any point during the meta, was during the Claw's 10% tantrum phase. During the whole of the north meta, nothing really does very much damage to me.

  6. While lootboxes are bad, I think this is far from egregious. There are any number of items available from a Black Lion Chest that you are able to sell and get a return far greater than the value of a precursor. You could buy over half a dozen precursors with a Hair Stylist Contract for example.

As far as player power - there is no power behind a precursor. You would be able to buy an exotic weapon for the sale price of any skin drop from the chest.

If we're gonna rag on lootboxes can we rag on the exclusive skins in them?

  7. All in all the entire map seems like it takes around two hours to complete. I am not sure how I feel about this, but I'm leaning towards 'good'; I really like engaging content that while not necessarily difficult, takes a good time to develop. Southern meta was competitive and I'm not sure if northern meta is competitive but at a glance it seems to be, especially as there's a non-RNG infusion to add value to time spent here.

I can totally understand if someone doesn't like the map because it takes _so long_ to get to the Claw of Jormag but honestly I don't think I would want it to be changed to address that. There are already so many maps with metas that offer that 'in and out, 15 minute adventure' feel; you can hop onto a HoT train, you can hop onto a PoF/LS4 meta train for a meta or two, or you can hop into Silverwastes, Dragonstand or Dragonfall for half an hour or an hour.

What I'd really like to see would be something like Silverwastes Hero that says "you've been on this map for a fair while so we've scaled up your rewards" or "you've finished North meta, so now mobs in South meta will drop Dominion/Frost Legion commendations".

  8. Blood Bank seems like a trap to me. It might be okay for Scourge but I'm not sure.

New Dread is good, turns flipping Stability into even more betterer flipping Stability. It contests Spiteful Spirit though and I think Spiteful Spirit is probably more useful in most circumstances.

Well changes are tasty. Well of Darkness applying Chill makes it really appealing for condi reaper.

  9. Beyond having more variety (effectively another 9 classes to play, provided the changes are drastic enough) it also means you're hopefully playing against 9 more classes in pvp/wvw.

It's probably the most practical way to invigorate pvp and wvw short of introducing new game modes for them. Very good deal from a dev time vs playtime pov.

  10. Gotta be honest this just reads to me as "what happens when you take away all necros' weaknesses and let them keep their strengths"

Necro weakness is that they can't chase and they can't disengage and they don't have great tools to defend themselves against focus fire.

In 2v2 there's no need to chase because the map is so small, disengaging isn't an option anyway, and there aren't enough enemies that being focus fired on is a threat.

You may as well say "mice OP in game mode without cats"

  11. Honestly I feel as though the stacks shouldn't be consumed when you open the chests, but they should fall off when you leave the instance map. You can pop in and do your daily or you can stick around, get your stacks up, and get your rewards rolling.

Rewards could be really jacked up if they wanted them to be. Like 10-20 times what they currently are. That'd make the Challenge probably on par with ethnically cleansing the Labyrinth or chaining hard path Winter Wonderland.
