WvW need something fresh. For players who mainly stay in WvW it is. The gamemode itself will always remain the same, I'd rather them focus on making objective improvements to the gamemode rather than trying new "fresh" things in hoping that they stick. They already tried that with the Desert BL many years ago and look how that turned out. I personally think they should just listen to their hardcore community that is the majority of WvW rather than trying to entice new players to the game mode who won't stick around anyway.

I used to play burnguardian and it absolutely gets cleansed almost immediately in a zerg fight, usually, it's converted into Aegis which is HUGE. There's no denying that it does massive amounts of damage, but it's very rare to see that play in full effect when fighting other zergs. I just run full power now, it's still really strong.

And slower to go from one place to another? Yes, I'd say most. Almost everyone I know in-game are WvW veterans and they all like the changes that came with Warclaw. Some people even dislike them completely and don't want mounts at all. Instantly killing a downed player on mounts just created a situation where blobs just kept people on standy for the pounce, which is a surface-level cheese play that offers 0 counter-play. It shouldn't have existed in the first place. Maul still does 20% downed damage, just doesn't insta 1 shot. Less health is fine and it's still easy to outpace people trying to damage you off of it, but atleast it's actually possible now. One less jump is better in my opinion, which goes along with dropping the HP as well. BEFORE these nerfs, it was rare you even touched a person on their mount as they would almost always outrun you with absolute ease. Like I said above, there's at least a chance now to knock someone off their mount and possibly create a fight. Lance still exists. Warclaw is far from useless, it's still the fastest way to travel and should have always been the specific purpose for it. Adding in surface-level fluff like skill upgrades and insta-kill just made it a bloated concept, hence why they tuned it down. They don't want people to rely on the warclaw, but rather use it as a supplement.

I like posts from new WvW players and what their opinions are, but there's a lot of assumptions in your post that are objectively incorrect. >HP becomes totally irrelevant when you can play meta builds that can burst down players in a couple of seconds without counterplay. 100% incorrect. This is why even the most veteran WvW players will run stats with +Vit and +Toughness because THEY ARE extremely relevant in WvW. A lot of roamers AREN'T playing meta builds and have catered their builds to their specific liking, there's a lot of players who go into it with the idea that they are a full glass cannon and are looking to 1 shot newbie players who aren't prepared. The way you should approach WvW is to start with high defense stats and then scale them back as you become more accustomed to the game mode. Thinking you can just jump in with 100% full glass cannon set and be relevant was your first mistake, WvW simply doesn't work that way. Build your hp to >20k and some toughness, you'll survive fights a lot longer and from that you'll gain knowledge on how to fight against certain players. >My definition of fair is you either allow every available professions to 1 shot a player's character or you don't allow anyone to do that. You have to step away from this assumption that everything needs to be fair, it simply doesn't work in WvW and NEVER will. In PvP gamemode like this, there will ALWAYS exist a type of "rock, paper, scissors" style that exists and the only thing you should be relying on is your self skill and knowledge. If you run with a commander and a zerg, you will find a plethora of different stats and comps to where you have advantages in certain things and disadvantages against certain things. In closing, I get where you are coming from with this post but you simply lack the experience and knowledge to really understand what you are even asking for. Most of the things you are talking about are your personal likings, but not things that the WvW players are actually asking for. Most of it is just surface-level fluff that WvW doesn't need nor does ANet need to waste resources doing. What most WvW veterans want is just a more polished, stable, a less buggy experience, and a long-term outlook on how they will approach these things. Alliances was a step in the right direction when they made that announcement so many years back, but we see how far that came. The vast majority of players in GW2 are playing PvE, and a small percentage are doing WvW on a daily basis so they'll never put much focus into that.

  15. I don't really disagree with your point, I just think a deeper conclusion can be made from it. I DO think you could get radical changes to the meta depending on what skills/traits were changed, but I don't want this confused with it being the ONLY way meta can shift nor was I trying to say that, I apologize if it sounded that way. There are a plethora of things that can alter meta, and sometimes it doesn't come from any objective change in the game what so ever. Like you mention (i'm assuming), Golemmancer runes have been around for a while and it seems like just recently it's 'potential' has been discovered, however, most of that is literally based around an exploit that we've seen ANet adjust in the past with similar runes but right now they aren't, thus why so many people are talking about it. It's something that objectively needs a fix. WvW is literally all I play and just last night we went against [FLUX] who legit runs a core 30+ man Golemmancer guild group. It's basically a murder-ball type comp that focuses heavily on DPS build because if you have everyone running these Golemmancer runes you don't need to worry much about defense. The topic around this goes far deeper than what's on paper because not only are they objectively overpowered with their 100% proc, 50k+ HP baseline and Stun, they also glitch through walls/gates and create massive lag for many players when they all spawn at once are being exploited for that fact. The exploiting through gates/walls and the lag generated is a far bigger issue than what people assume, but you'll never acknowledge this point unless you objectively go against it in real-time. When you already have the largest blob on the map + capability of generating another 30+ minions that can soak 50k HP EACH + Stun + Cause Lag + Glitch through gates then you start to understand why these 100s forum posts exist. For us, It created a scenario in which the best option is to literally avoid them because it feels impossible to match them head to head. I'm not saying IT IS impossible, but for the vast majority of situations, it will be.
