  1. So far I am enjoying my condi FB. Some of the tome spells are just beautiful. I am still learning and don't even know what half the stuff does yet. I'm a slow learner so it's going to take a while. Just have to make sure I enjoy it while learning.

At the moment I have a mix of Carrion, Dire and Sinister gear. Just two pieces of Dire while I learn how to play. Was dying too much do this gives me a little cushion.

Currently leveling Armorsmithing and Weaponsmithing to make some ascended gear. I am a little anxious about what that entails so I am trying to not look too far ahead and just do a little at a time which will all add up eventually. So it seems that the best option for ascended gear is all Vipers. I am wondering if there is a little wiggle room to add a little vitality and toughness

  2. Finally hit 80 and fully unlocked FB. Just purchased a mix of Carrion and Sinister exotic gear. Went with Balthazar runes and Smoldering/Bursting sigils. So far it feels fun but I am a complete noob with it. Gonna take a lot of practice. Will begin working towards vipers ascended gear soon. Any idea what to go for first?

Information overload with the UI in that video.

  3. Thank you all for the replies. They have helped my troubled mind a lot. As for getting legendary gear... yeah na. Just looking at the requirements and watching videos on how to make it, it is not going to be something I can count on for a long, long, long time.

    > For condi, you want to run firebrand because the tomes reset on kill and axe has burn / bleed on autoattack. You aim for 100% burn duration and as high a power/ferocity as you can get. Condi firebrand is the only acceptable condi build for fractals right now due to a high power damage and burn damage tick. (see discretize.eu)

So before I get ascended gear should I go with Rampager stats or something else?

  5. Hey everyone. Been out of the game for about 3 years now and have finally come back. I used to play a Mesmer but I have forgotten everything about it, so I am leveling a new character from scratch; no boosts. Going with Guardian this time. I'm nowhere near having to choose an elite spec yet but I just wanna get some advice for when I do get there. From doing a lot of research (google'search) I am leaning towards wanting to play firebrand. I know I can play both but it's gonna take me quite a long time to build even my first ascended set, so I need to get this sorted.

Firebrand, yes. I also wanna play power not condition but keep hearing that FB is better for condi but then I sometimes saw in random comments that power FB is great.

Once I get there I will be wanting to be viable for open world, fractals (low level at first of course) and raids. So my question: Can power FB be used in all three efficiently or do I need to go condi? If so, power DH works well in all three?

To be honest, the more I look into things the more stressed I get since there doesn't seem to be any easy linear path. I just wanna have fun in all game types.

Let me know. You should all have a lot more experience than my random google searching.

    Thanks.

Edit: To clarify, it's the whole wanting jack-of-all trades type thing. It is gonna take me ages to make my first ascended set let alone a second. So I want the first one to be viable in all content types. I hear Condi builds aren't welcome in fractals which is why I was looking at power but still FB as they seem the coolest to me.

    > Firebrands are meta in all game modes. Is basically a "use skills off CD", required in PVE, PVP and WVW. It is as tanky or oppressive as you want without any change in the build with the hybrid version.

    > Next logical choice would be scourges, another brain dead class which you use skills off-cd. In PvP would be reaper with the "spin to win" skill. In PVE the most used is heal scourge.

    >

    > And last would be ranger: you will enjoy the advantage of distance but you need to learn to kite properly or you will melt. Single target. Pets mostly work but they have some quirks you need to learn to play around otherwise you will have a dead pet most of the time. All your skills will be utility skills so you have to time them properly too while other classes can use dps utilities. Fine in PVP and PVE, unwanted in WVW. And you be hated everywhere because kids are salty about anything the ranger has but they don't experience it when they reroll.

    >

    > Roaming in WvW is dead.

    >

    > So my advice is go for Firebrand. You rotate between your tomes and mantras off-CD.

Would you be able to link me a good FB build? The rotations on the ones I can see on metabattle look complicated.

Will be leveling this guy up from 1, so what is a good leveling build to prepare me for the FB?

    Thanks in advance.

  7. He is lazy, Cerby. He can't be bothered testing it himself so he is trying to puts the onus on you. He wants you to have to go out of your way and take up your own time to try prove it to him.

Just ignore it. I don't get why he is so angry at you for coming up with your own build that works for you. Just seems petty.

  8. I don't understand what's going on with warrior. Why is power so useless? When did that happen? Did they nerf it in the past or has it always been like this? If they did nerf it, why? I mean, there are other classes where condition damage makes a lot more sense. Warrior just makes you think power. I actually made my warrior because I had the berserker gear to bring over to it but then I find it's useless when compared to running vipers... wtf?

I'm not gonna re-gear the warrior for condition dmg. If I wanted to play condition I would choose a different profession.

I'm fine with that if the triple the duration of it.

    > This is incorrect, so long as something makes the full counter **go off**, you will get a single adrenal health stack. Even if you do not hit with the actual Fullcounter attack(If it goes off and someone evades it for example). And so long as the fullcounter goes off you will also get the protection and resistance, should you trait for it.

It's fine. You are supposed to get the benefits if someone triggers is.

Happen to have a build I could look at please?

Typically slotted Stomp as well when it was PBAoE back then. It was great to jump off a wall onto some catas/rams with Death from Above, Stomp, and then go Ham.

Watching more of those old class videos makes me feel so nostalgic. Oh all that time waiting and getting hyped for GW2 back in 2011/2012.

Too bad none of the classes play like they showed in these videos.

  13. Thank you for that long explanation. Appreciate you taking the time to write all that.

I am excited about giving this a go. I feel willing to put a bit of time into learning the build. Always been a fan of non-meta (non-sheeple) stuff.

Ignore the naysayers. They are most likely people who gave the build all of 5 minutes then decided it sucks because they aren't good at it without practice.

    > Headbutt is _awesome_.

    >

    > Whenever you use it, you automatically get full Adrenaline and as such can enter directly into Berserk mode (granted that it isn't on cooldown) and since doing so counts as a Stunbreak you instantly negate the self-stun of using Headbutt in the first place. This combo will put you into the top of your fighting ability mere seconds within a fight.

    >

    > From there on you can use your Burst skill, then Blood Reckoning (this heal skill instantly recharges your Burst when used), followed by another Burst skill right after - this should decimate most things you encounter in PvE that isn't an Elite or Champion.

    >

    > As for your trait lines, you can switch out Discipline for Arms if you want. You'll lose that ever-so-handy Warrior's Sprint but in turn get access to Signet Mastery, Unsuspecting Foe and Burst Precision which are all very, very good traits for a Power Warrior.

Headbutt does work well. That's a welcome change. Thanks.

I don't think I need Arms so much. My crit chance it already almost 100% so I don't really get much use out of Unsuspecting Foe and Burst Precision. Also we miss out on quite a lot not taking discipline.

This is unless I am overlooking something obvious :/
