  1. A few years back; after having completed endgame in the basic sense (getting legendary armor, weapon, trinket, backpack);

I sometimes find the time to login to go chat with random players, help em out with quest, chill a bit in the starter zones.

And ofcourse when i see interesting topics on the forums i drop a message.

In 2021; this is the extend of what i get out of gw2 as an old player; and i'm totally fine with it.

Single player games are more suitable for me; mmo's require a degree of dedication; i sadly dont have the time for such commitment anymore.

With every game; one shouldnt try to force themselves into playing if their heart isnt truly init.

Perhaps your taste of what you like about games has changed. You can compare it with food. Eating the same pizza everyday... it will get stale soon.

    Some peeps stick to retro stuff and never grow tired of it; others prefer the next new gaming rush/innovation;

And some are just happy with that one special game for endless replay value; GW2 has alot of replay value; thats for sure.

    If i had to make recommendations for some interesting single player games;

Darksouls 1-2-3, Sekiro, Nioh 1-2, Dragons dogma: Dark arisen, Grim Dawn, Hollowknight, Kingdoms of Amalur: reckoning, Trails of Mana.

Also keep an eye out for 25th of may when Biomutant releases; Open World Furry rpg.

    But in the end;

**The choice is yours Arisen... yours alone.**

  2. If Achievements are a mechanic thats bonus/optional; then its totally fine; (the type of achievements you obtain in form of trophies like the playstation, xbox; their optional for the completionist/collectors, but dont effect your gaming experience.

But i dislike the type of Achievements wich Gate/block your main progress/campaign. (you reaaaally need complete these achies or else game says nope)

And mmo games tend to have alot of those Achievements to increase spend time. Its quite normal really :D

If you wanna experience gaming devoid of achievement requirements just play single player games only; and even then you can get the achievements at your own pace. or some multiplayer game wich has only a few superficial achievment types (cleared level 3 without getting hit / got highscore in level 40 etc)

  3. It would be nice if gw1 got a remaster/remake; but its safe to assume Arenanet has allocated most of its resources/time to the current and the new expansion.

Atm; Like all gamecompanies; choices need to be carefully made with the chaos that is Covid. they dont have the luxery to stray from their main goals.

GW1 has high nostalgia value for the old fans of the series ofcourse but majority has moved on to the current game; wich has become the replacement.

Most new players dont start with GW1 (its "Old" for them and their friends play gw2 + you only ever see advertisement for GW2 only)

Nothing wrong with the idea to revive GW1 again for the greater good; but its just difficult to realise atm.

  4. Your artwork would really be nice for a stained glass project with multi themed panels (it reminds me alot of stained glass art similar what you see in cathedrals/chapels)

I believe its possible to print such art on plexiglass wich allows you to create a faux version of stained glass. keep up the good work. o7

  5. Hey,

There's potential for making a nice serie of these ; each with their own theme and music ; For instance; each of the races of tyria (make one with multiple scenes with charr depicting aspects of their daily lives; their struggles; their adversaries; etc like it changes to the beat of the music. Theres alot of gw2 soundtracks suitable for any gw2 themed videoclips. (they dont need to last the entire soundtrack either; use a fade in and fade out for both audio/visual . Try to make prototype of about 1 min? see if you can handle that time/production wise; you could always make it shorter if it ends up being too much hassle.

For Visuals you could use the concept art Arenanet has already published its straight from the original source then (ofcourse you will need to be a bit creative with cutting the images and patching them up later when you use them as layers for the compositing (perhaps a bit of cloningbrushing)

If i had to give an recent example wich fuses music and visuals to the beat watch the link below; (its not really gw2; but it gives that medival/fantasy vibe. )

  6. I would say GW2 is more a combination of P2W(Pay2Win) and P4V(Pay4Victories)

    Why its P2W:

In most cases; To win at something; one must succesfully reach the finish; or goal(s). And a goal can be ANYTHING really and isnt merely limited to the stereotypical "1st place" this is very true for alot of videogames. For instance: "My goal is to collect all 1H sword skins" isnt any diffrent from: "My goal is to get 1st place in PVP ranked".

The goal for victory/winning may be diffrent; but players still need to invest with some form of "payment" wether its time, money, and/or health.

Collecting all armor skins, achievments, progressing the main campaign storyline, or simply map completion is also about succesfully reaching the finish/goal.

Statements such as "all things in gemstore are just cosmetica/armor/mounts skins, secundary items are optional and not P2W" or "I have played GW2 for long time and havent spend any money since" , "Xpac is not P2W" doesnt really uphold then. Even Posting this comment cost me something(time and money).

    Why its P4V:

    All/most Games have always made players "pay up" in some way ; but MMO's excel at making players "pay up" continuously;

Just when players thought they reached/completed all their goals a new one popup; aka the criteria for "winning" changes wich again requires "investment/paying up" Since mmo's create an endless loop of "Winning/victories" you might aswell introduce a diffrent Acronym for such games, like; P4V/Pay4Victories or Pay2Progress

(like a gw2 quest progress bar; only it never really seems to reach 100% XD)

  7. Hello,

I assume when you said "we"; you meant you and your friends/guildies who have similiar desires/wishes of what could improve your time in GW2.

Anywayz allow me to provide some own analysis/feedback on your idea/suggestions as a fellow adenturer. (WARNING: contains small Living story spoiler in Question 10!)

_1.Include the possibility of dyeing skills, new effects and impressive animations;_

Due to limitations of the current engine and constrictions time/money wise i highly doubt this will happen.

    _2.Increase the amount of skills;_

Due to the nature of how the combat/weapon system has been setup the only viable option would be to add more uttility skills only. but even then it could result in increased balancing when time would be better spend on other facets of the game.

_3.Include the possibility of selling account bound, soul bound, etc. items among players;_

These type of items/gear/weapons have been implemented specificly for the reason of obtaining them as an individual ingame accomplishment; thus they are dubbed account/soul bound. this will never change.

_4.Create masteries that allow you to load other players, both in Glider and in Mounts (it would be an incredible experience to give this support to other players on the map);_ The use of specific "free mounts" is implemented is present in festival stuff. Gliders and mounts were meant as a means for people to explore the world on their own

The idea of a multipersonel mount sounds interesting but it might only be interesting to those who play as couples. most people can simply follow another mount/glider with their own.

_5.Create masteries to breathe underwater (depth should be an evolution)_

What i assume you meant; future masteries(water pressure resistance magic?) wich allows you explore deeper regions of tyria's sea.

the idea would be nice for a underwater Xpac; but atm its pointless to apply; we can remain underwater infinitely already.

_6.Add an Elite Specialization editable (so that players can choose the elites skills that most identify themselves Ex: Druid + Soul Beast)_

The idea the creators had in mind was to create unique specs with their own advantages and weaknesses. If the player is allowed to make their own recipe as they please it would seriously disrupt the foundation that has been placed already and how specialization suppose to work. Alot of time/research/effort from alot of departments went into each specialization to refine/balance/to make it work. wether a spec DOES work for them; is in the eye of the beholder.

_7.Legendary weapons must be more attractive, should allow the player to edit their skins, animations and steps with the subjects water, ice, fire, air, thunder, earth, mineral, vegetable, crystal, death, stiletto, etc. ..for all types of weapons. And you could still include a temporary elite skill that significantly increased the attributes of that weapon. (Investigate the Bleach anime, where the character's swords temporarily evolve into "Bankai" mode, it's incredible);_

Due to Engine/gameplay restrictions + Time/money /priorities these idea's arent realistic to implement. The definition of what defines Attraction is personal flavor.

Some find a slingshot skin the "bomb" while other enjoy a shooting unicorns. The creators have to sort off "guess" what would work for all the players within the limited timeframe/resources allowed to make such objects. At best they could add new generic acc's/infusions wich add new footfalls /auras etc for flavor.

_8.We would like to see in GW2 more hair options (even longer and with different hairstyles), faces, physical types (fat and dwarfs). * Use hair references from musicians of Heavy Metal, Pop, Indie Rock, Gothic or sportsmen (from skateboarding, surfing, etc);_

More hair options is always good if you wanna cosplay Beethoven or Goku.

I assume the physical types/face presets have limitations due to Armor piece placement i think(possibility bodies/faces/hair clipping through armorpieces etc.).

_9.More emotive animations (with keyboard shortcuts);_

There is already quite alot of those; but specify wich ones you would like to see? XD

_10.Bring the Dwarves back to GW2, there are thousands of fans of this race and friends of mine who are not playing on account of this;_

We got Ogden already; but atleast they should also bring Killroy back; he's worth atleast a thousand dwarves.

_11.Do not limit the skins of the Elementalists, Necromancers and Mesmers to Robes (we also want to wear covers, pants, light metal armor, or leather and stylish hats);_

Agreed. Holding on to the stereotypical idea of what heavy, medium, light armor should look like is a bit Hypocrite in any mmo i think.

_12.We also want to name the thumbnails;_

I cant imagen any sane person/player wanna rename all gear/items/skills/etc. They went through great trouble todo all the work for you XD.

_13.We want dyeing options for weapons._

Due to the nature of the current system they would have to make duplicates of each weapon for each dye. I dont see that happening.

  8. Hm, the Traditional way is either Lead(very good for larger Geometric/abstract pieces) or

Copperfoil technique(timeconsuming/expensive but more usefull for fine details and 3d shapes like a hanglamp or vase).

Both methods seem equally hazardous for the creator thou.

There is ofcourse some fantastic alternative(s) that are less Hazardous, less expensive, less timeconsuming; but still has potential for great results.

Coincidentally; the author of this Idea happened to be a GW2 player. link below.

    https://www.instructables.com/id/Faux-Stained-Glass/

  9. Hello m8,

Idea1: sounds interesting; as it opens more possibilities for more weapon combinations, thou i am not sure how complex it would be to program various Behaviours for swapping weapon types etc.

Idea2: Also a nice idea. Not sure if Anet would implement a 2nd spear type based weapon as on land we kinda have the Staff as a substitute

Idea3: Could happen in a future specialisation; they would need to program it; so all weapons skill change when equip dual weapons inside the new specialisation.

The other idea's: The Flail can work model/animation wise; but probaly preserving the orginal Mace hitbox programming. Same for Crossbow.

Alot of armor currently in GW1/2 are alrdy based on actual reference materials from the real world; then take all those pieces into making something more unique.

I can understand the appeal in running around in Historically accurate armors; but i dont think that would get past their inhouse Q and A team wich will fire questions like: "isnt this a bit cliche?" or "these armors look bland. can you add something flair wich makes them more original plz?"

But who knows; maybe theres alot of Medival times fans at Anet; fingers crossed XD.

  10. Hello Future citizen's of Cantha,

This post is a followup of my 1st post regarding Future Cantha Specialisations.

    https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/55318/concepts-for-specializations-future-cantha-expansion-pof-legendary-longbow#latest

Bear in mind; I didnt do research on the actual facts regarding lore/timetables etc. Its merely a "suggestive framework" to bind these idea's. Also grammar is meh.

**The Grandmasters of Cantha.** (not to be confused with the ones in LA tradingdistrict)

From the beginning the Dev's have aimed to provide us with a Immersive gaming experience. "The Grandmasters" could take this a step further in the Cantha Expansion.

Basicly; their NPC's(the equivilant of Rhytlock, logan, caithe, etc) that teach you the ways of your new Specialisation from start to finish.

There's 9 Grandmasters; 1 for each class. Each having their own backstory, quirks/personality, and they all know each other in some manner.

Aside from being the Player's personal Teacher they also introduce you to the new Cantha expansion through Your Personal Story.

All Grandmasters originated from West Tyria; how they ended up in Cantha is tied to their own backstory(flashback cinematics?); but having learned the way's of Cantha society, culture; they be sure to help their new Student/friend.

Through the Personal story they learn you new Masteries such as "Learning native Canthan Language" and "Canthan Mannerism" .

This is kinda with the idea of going back to that immersive feeling we had of having a mentor/teacher like Tybalt. But expanding on that idea even further by integrating your new specialisation init.

At some point in the personal Story you reunite with the usual team (rhytlock, caith, etc). The grandmasters will still make appearances in Cantha Fractals/raids, LW chapters.

Example personalstory : _On orders of X you are to travel across the great sea to Cantha, During your journey you are Assaulted by an Unknown Ship, On your own you make it to the shores of Cantha, you are confronted by attackers from the unknown ship, the fatique, dehydration, hunger has left you vulnerable with no chance of winning the fight, luckily; your Grandmaster witnesses the scene and comes to your aid, thus beginning your Cantha Adventure._

    ![](https://i.imgur.com/FWx3bzu.png "")

_Above: example of 2 Grandmasters; each with their own unique style._

    **Legendary Relic Quest.**

When you have fully unlocked/mastered your new Specialisation; Your Grandmaster wants to see the "fruits of your labor" with his/her own eyes.

In a 1 vs 1 match you face off against the Grandmaster; Only allowed to use the Cantha Specialisation. Prepare for a fearsome fight.

The Grandmaster's A.I. adepts to the players input; choosing an alternative tactic to counter; forcing the player to switch tactics.

It must be challenging but fair.

If the player proves victorious; the Grandmaster will present you with a Graduation Gift; Its an old Relic of some sort; passed on from Grandmaster to Grandmaster.

They were simply waiting for someone; "worthy" enough to receive it.

In its current state the relic is unuseable/dormant; and needs to be awakened/reignited./reforged.

Through Ancient historical you learn that only "The Celestial Blacksmith"can reforge this weapon.

Only problem is; He exists in the Realm of the Celestials. This is the beginning of an intricate mission of collecting, investigations to gain access

to the Celestial Realm. Once inside; The Celestial Blacksmith will help you reforge the Relic.... IF you do him a few "small" favors. (hes kind of a jerk)

**The Cantha of now.**(About Npc's, Factions, Kaineng City)

_Over the course of a Century; Cantha has changed significantly; But not in a way anyone would expect...

It all began with the last known Canthan Emperor to many; Usoku. Feeling the limitations of his own excistence; the desire for an heir grew even larger.

But there was a problem; Usoku was made Eunuch by the previous Emperor; who harbored a great Jealousy towards Usoku.

The endless grieving of his wife, the predicament of leaving no continuing legacy behind.

In his despair; Usoku asked the two known Saltspray Dragons Kuunavang and Albax for help.

Their help did allow Usoku's wife to conceive a child; at a terrible price; forever changing Kaineng's City's destiny._

**New Kaineng and the Sunken city.**

The sacrifice made by the two dragons resulted in a cataclysmic event wich gradually sunk the Original Kaineng city to the bottom of the sea.

The chaos was great; Jade Brotherhood, Am Fah etc; it didnt matter who was on what side. Everyone was working towards one thing; surviving this ordeal.

A fresh page was turned over with the arrival of the new Emperor. His birth was the beginning of many changes and this is reflected in the Cantha of today.

With the help of the native Krait a new floating city was build above the old sunken one; New Kaineng.

The Krait had suprisingly taken an interest in the new Emperor; believing him to be the incarnation of a legendary Krait warrior.

    ![](https://i.imgur.com/nVuVTQP.png "")

_Above:The new and sunken city. And Krait from the sunken city trading with New Kaineng citizen._

    Characters/Factions of Cantha next.(Excluding Kurzick/Luxons)

    **The Jade tigers.**

Under the guidance of a more Educated leader; the Jade Brotherhood and Am fah had merged; becoming an organisation known as "The Jade Tigers"

A great portion of New Kaineng is runned by them; but they no longer do criminal activities. Their leader realized there was more profit to be

made by going into realestate and the entertainment industry for young and old. The old Am fah members act as the Jade Tiger security force; protecting assets of their benefactor.

But within the organisation there's still some who miss the old ways of Blade and Dagger...

    ![](https://i.imgur.com/cFIRDpM.png "")

_Above: 2 Jade tiger's; protecting an important Executive._

    **Children of Shiro.**

Led by an Enigmatic Masked individual; their goal is to engulf all of Cantha in Affliction and the resurrection of the one they worship; Shiro Tagachi.

Not much else is known about them.

    ![](https://i.imgur.com/IG0t6Ab.png "")

_Above: The masked Leader of "Children of Shiro"._

**The Dragon Emperor.**(Son of the Saltspray Dragons)

Usoku's wife conceived a child, but to Usoku's horror; its appearance was that of both a human and a dragon.

Regretting the choice he made; he demanded this child to be cast into the Jade Sea; but his wife refused. So he banished them both from Kaineng.

    Later; This unwanted child would return to be the new Emperor... and unlike his father(who sunk with old Kaineng);

he would accept all that would enter his land; regardless of their past, or appearance.

His many deeds of heroism and benevolence has made him loved by many. Despite his looks; the Dragon Emperor has lived far longer then most.

    **Queen of the Tengu.**

Abducted as a Child by the Children of Shiro from a Norn town; she managed to escape in the dense Forests of Cantha; into Tengu territory.

A place not even Fanatics dared to enter. It was not long before the Child was discovered by a Tengu hunters pack. Among them was the Chieftans Daughter; who had a curious nature.

Rather then kill this child, she demanded it to be taken back alive; so she could examine it. This was the beginning of a beautifull

Sister-ish relationship. And this child ended up as the Leader of the Tengu in Cantha... somehow XD

_Above: just a little extra: Krait Princess who rules over Sunken Kaineng. She kinda likes the Dragon Emperor XD (Pufferfish is not pleased)_

    **The Shrines of Cantha.**

Originally creations of themselves; the people of Cantha started to make shrines. worshipping their depiction of a higher being that would give them comfort in these desperate times.

But being a land of magic and Mystery; their strong convictions had began to materialize actual deities within each shrine; and aslong people have need of them/believe in them; they will remain in the land; serving the people of Cantha with their blessings.

On your travels through Cantha you'l encounter various shrines; with the locals offering prayers to their Deity's Shrine. They cannot see the Deity; but neither can you.

Later you meet a Priest that tells you that; only those with a strong Soul can see a Shrine's Deity. After some quests you acquire "Spirit Mastery" from the Priest.

This allows you to see, speak with a Shrine Deity. In exchange for helping the Deity (heartevent, quests, personal story) they will grant you their blessing/boon/mastery/vendor.

The type of blessing depends on the Situation.

For instance; Some area's wich have Afflicted soil can only be crossed if you possess a certain blessing.

The appearance for each Deity should be unique and with own personality.

    ![](https://i.imgur.com/tHwWmVk.png "")

_Above: a Local praying at the Shrine; hoping to receive a Deity's blessing of protection, prosperity or fortune._

    **Raid: Urgoz Rest.**

This is available after completing the mainplot concerning the Children of Shiro; and serves as a definite conclusion.

Uptill now the Children of Shiro's hideout has eluded the Commander and his team.

But now thanks to some "Sherlocking" they found a clue.

You head back into what was once Urgoz Warren. The place is much more overgrown with foilage.

Through a series of clue's/fights you encounter the 1st raid boss. Its appearance is that of Urgoz but with updated skills.

After its defeat you learn it was merely a plant reanimated into the visage of Urgoz by Affliction; a distraction to scare outsiders off.

You find a secret passage wich was hidden by the 1st raidboss. It leads to a hidden shipyard.

The player will reconize the symbols of the ships sails; The Children of Shiro.

You can see a fortified wall wich is unbreachable at 1st. By placing explosive powders from a nearby depot near the wall''s gate you gain access.

Defeat 2nd raidboss. Behind the Wall are the training grounds. make your way to 3rd Raidboss; then obtain the Key from his/her Tent to open the nearby Gate

That leads further underground; into a maze of Caverns, slippery slopes and falling spikes. The Children of Shiro have setup ambushes and traps.

The the slippery Cavern floor is replaced with carved out stair cases wich leads to an Eerie place; The Affliction research Facility.

For many years; the Children of Shiro had conducted Experiments with affliction; testing it on creatures/people they've abducted.

Fighting through failed "test samples"; you finally meet the next raidboss; assisted by 3 of the most powerfull afflicted ever created.

Once defeated you navigate these dark corners of the facility. Having beated the main force you will face less Children of Shiro now.

You will have also noticed various creatures, people still trapped in cages around the Shipyard, training camp and facility; save all of them for a achievment.

Soon you reach a large open space. You see a path leading to a Large Pagoda. The Miniboss you encounter is someone you have come to trust during your

adventures in Cantha. But it seemed he/she was a spy for the Children of Shiro all along; watching your every move. informing the their leader.

You have a dramatic chat; trying to convince "your friend" this is not the way. But it matters not; you two will have to fight.

After this you finally faceoff against the Mastermind and Leader of the Children of Shiro; inside the pagoda's inner Sanctum.

In a cinematic the player sees the Raidboss's back; pickin up what seems to be his mask.

But the mask seems diffrent; drawing a green energy from a Peculiar pedestal it rested on.

Leader Dialog: _"You can't stop me.... commander. I shall become the vessel!"_

The final boss has the same attacks he used when you fought him a few times in personal story/fractals.

Every 10% less HP he becomes more powerfull, obtains new skills, gradually become more like Shiro Tagachi. Even his manner of speaking during the encounter changes.

The last 10% HP is like fighting the legendary Shiro tagachi himself; hes extremely deadly and unpredictable and enable to use enhanced versions of all the skills he had in gw1 Factions.

At 0% the mask starts to crack; unable to contain Shiro's soul; both the mask and the soul contained init shatter. The volatile reaction sears the Mask into the face of Leader's lifeless corpse.

;Leaving everyone to wonder who he really was.

  11. Hello; I can tell you put alot of effort into this. The idea itself is great, only the timing is a little bit.... unfortunant?

Your Idea could totally be implemented IF dev's was still working on HoT content. But now their attention has shifted to the latest Expansion; PoF.

It could still work if this was somehow set as a long past memory within the Mists wich the players reenact(as a Fractal perhaps); but even that seems unlikely/farfetched.

General idea's like "add weapon's dye plz" or "some hairstyles design here" stay timeless; allowing to be implemented at a later time.

But if an idea is tied to a specific Expansion you wanna make sure that Idea was shared/presented; BEFORE that expansion's developmentcycle

was closed chapter; or else all your research/effort are for neigh.

That being said; theres always the possibility they could recycle pieces of your idea to be implemented in a diffrent manner; perhaps mechanics of some bosses etc.

  12. I don't think there's actual Gw2 themed stencils out there. Most of the time people come up with their own (one time only) paterns and think of new ones for next year.

Either someone who actually made Quaggan ones must feel the Generous and post them as tutorial... or you gotta experiment yourself/practice.

**If you wanna create silhouette like Pumpkin carvings. Example tutorial below.**

**If you wanna create Pumpkin carvings wich combine Silhouette and multi-layered depth/gradient effects. Example tutorial below.**

And plz watchout if using sharp knifes. Getting hurt for 1 pumpkin a year isnt worth the trouble.

  13. Yseron; it's very nice you are sharing this with the rest of us, there isnt alot of 3d tutorials for the community here; but consider putting it in a bigger picture.

Only posting a stair tutorial seems a bit.. incomplete?

It would be very cool if you rather make it a complete tutorial series like: "how build a Vabbi temple - part 5 : stairs" and "how to make a Mystic forge - part 6: particle effects" and so forth. I think what also would be interesting is a "How to model your own Asura/Charr" aswell. But that might be alot of work; and the time a day is limited XD
