  1. Let all the gaming companies that solely rely on loot boxes go bankrupt and burn in hell.

I'm sure GW2 will adapt, and be a more enjoyable game for it. I personally still think the GW2 ingame shop prices are way too high; to a point where they are hurting their possible revenue, but that's besides the point.

The obvious (I'm assuming you're just dishonest and not ACTUALLY stupid enough to not see it) difference is the degree of randomness. If you're buying food, you 99% know what you're buying. If you're opening a loot box, you could get any of a LOT of items. Add in obscure chances and that carrot on a stick ("theoretically you could be getting this super cool super rare item hurr durr") and you get the most hateable, predatory practice in gaming.

Your tinfoil hat overcharged and should be replaced immediately.

Because best-in-slot racial skills incentivize Anet to force shifts of the meta-race in raiding/pvp through balancing, as can be seen in WoW for example. There's always been a handful of blatantly overpowered racials, which get shifted around every other expansion or given to new races. Which is super fucking cancer for the players who get to pick between being underpowered by choice, or rewarding the developer for this shady practice (by paying for a race change or spending weeks rerolling to the de-facto best race).

By having racial skills underpowered Anet is avoiding pissing the more minmax-oriented and balance-sensitive players off and avoiding giving themselves incentives for business-practices that make their playerbase resent them.

That's my take on it and I'm thankful that Anet is handling racial skills the way they are.

  4. When you drop out of Celestial Avatar WHILE you are channeling Rejuvenating Tides (#4) you don't get the Quick Draw proc for 'switching' to your equipped weapon from the Avatar skill set. What's up with that?

I've tested a bit on the golem and both switching in and out of Avatar triggers QD just fine if it's off cooldown, but as soon as I'm channeling when dropping out I don't get the QD proc. Nor do I get a QD proc for a (fast) weapon swap after, which makes me think it's not so much that channeling prevents the QD proc, but actually eats it up and puts QD on a new 9s cooldown. Thus preventing the next weapon swap from triggering QD.

    Thoughts, experiences?

  5. Map chat is really hit or miss in this game.

My best advice would be going with the flow (e.g. there won't be a lot of chatter in a pug T4 fractals rush), and switching it up if what you're doing doesn't work. Whether that's finding a new guild, going to social hot-spots where players aren't pre-occupied, switching map channels, going through community Teamspeak/Discord servers etc

For example I've had some of the most fun random encounters in any game ever in GW2, like a group of quaggans trying to set up marriages for strangers in LA. Lighthearted goofy RP. I was gonna craft a weapon and then do this quest before leaving for the gym, but nope, this is more important now kinda situation xD

Most of the time I'm sticking to more exclusive communication / music / podcasts though. There's only so much "How can you say farming those low-density zero respawn low level spiders is inefficient farming, my husband found a precursor there." "I bought the game with my own money so I play how I want to. And now I demand you take my 17AR bearbow magi ranger into T4 fractals, reeeeeeeee" I can take and that sadly is the average quality of chat.
