  1. My 2 cents on this:

Whenever I go to a place in order to do an achievement, even when that place is not a daily Season map, or even if it's not a popular map or event, there are people. Wherever I go on the maps, there are always people that join in the activity with me. I never feel like the game is empty, as opposed to a lot of other MMO-s. So honestly, I have no idea why people keep saying the game is dead.

  2. Dear Team,

The Banner of the Commander should not be soulbound. I finally managed to farm for days the 500 inscribed shards for for the Urn of Heroic Ashes. It was tedious. Not when I finally did it, I went to craft the ascended Banner of the Dauntless Commander, only to find that the precursor item is soulbound to another character, who I also happened to use for farming this very map.

This makes no sense, we already had to go throw a lot of farming to get the precursor item, and now we need to craft it again?

Please make this soulbind go away, there is no real argument for it.

    Thank you!

  3. Like it was mentioned before, I am happy as long as I get a selfish power dps spec, that can be a +1 in raids. No support, no hybrid, no niche abilities, just pure dps, a good one if possible. Obviously I would love to have a greatsword, because they are very cool, and Anet usually designs them to have the best skins in the game (personal, subjective opinion). Make it cool, make it flashy, make it awesome.

  4. Mostly casual player here.

I never had any problem with the fact that some rewards will not be given to me. I literally took years to get the legendary armor achievement part 1. And I am fine with it. I absolutely do not want things to be handed to me. I am proud to have completed all the story achivements and a lot of collections up until Icebrood Saga. If I ever get my hands on a legendary armor, it will be my achievement, and not just Anet giving me something because I was a casual who begged for it.

On the other hand, I feel completely uninspired by the grindy nature of the recent story. It all started with kill 1000 mobs in the 3 areas in Dragonfall. That was the first time when I felt I will be skipping a story achievement. Icebrood Saga is FILLED with these. These are not fun.

Grind in itself is not the devil, but having mostly only grind in later content, just pains my heart.

  5. Please don't, I love the new Sevenshot. I could only use the old one at the very beginning of the fight, before engaging, if the opponent stood still and I was at max range. Sure, it felt good, but you know what felt bad? When the enemy moved 10cm, and thus he received 0% damage. The fact that it was okay on large hitbox bosses in raids is just simply not enough reason to justify the old version.

Now let's hope they do something to Skill 2. (Which now, actually is very similar to Skill 3, so maybe replace 2 with 3, and add a totally new skill 3, like a movement ability, or a large bursting attack that damages only the first enemy and does not pierce... Spice it up, shortbow is so cool!)

  6. I think that calling the leveling a grind is just wrong. There can be a lot of grind in GW2, without a doubt, but leveling in Open World, doing hearts, events, getting some achievements inbetween, jumping puzzles, etc. It is not grindy at all, but is actually a really fun open world experience. Every single other MMO, you go to a quest giver, talk to him, accept the quest, kill 10 pigs, go back, talk to him, accept rewards, rinse and repeat. GW2 is so far from this, that I genuinely think they have one of the best leveling experiences due to this.

Regarding the lvl requirement for personal story; I know it felt good when you challenged yourself and did a story quest 10+ levels above you, but I have no issues with the current system. Because right now, it creates a rhythm or dynamic for my leveling. I do the first story quest, then I start maxing out the zone, by the time I finish, I can do lvl 10 (even a bit earlier). After that I can go to another zone and max that out as well and so on and so on. Since I like 100%ing the maps I am currently leveling in, this dynamic (even if it is not 100% aligned with the lvl requirement) is not an issue for me.

TLDR: I never felt that the leveling was grindy, and I genuinely enjoy it to this day.

  7. I applaud all the hard work that OP put into his work, I genuinely love the concept and I would probably enjoy it a lot. However,...

Mesmer, which already has one of the most fun and unique mechanics in the game (and probably in the MMO genre), with great utilities across the board, already has 2 elite specializations that completely reshape the way the class works, giving it a lot of super-cool enticing abilities, while at the same time making them viable for all content types of the game. (There were mandatory classes for most high-end PVE content for years).

The elite spec you just described would create yet another spec that is sought after due to the unique buffs and utilities it brings to the table. I just do not feel fair that they get yet another elite spec that is not just super-fun to play, but is also borderline OP / must-have.

I would prefer an elite spec that fills one particular niche, and not just be useful everywhere, because "mesmer is cool, give it all the unique and cool and useful abilities we can".

Let other classes also get some of the fun things.

So I have really mixed feelings about this, since if this were to come true, I would probably never stop playing mesmer. But at the same time I would feel bad, because I think other classes deserve the same amount of fun, complexity and utility that mesmers seem to have.

Please don't hate me for this.

  8. Though I would love to have a ranged weapon for GS with some cool, never before seen animations, this would probably make it nonviable in highend PVE content (where only being melee is viable), so pls dont do that.

Maybe if it can be switched to ranged with an elite upkeep skill or a stance like deadeye rifle (as previously mentioned before)?

But other than that I am fine with any kind of melee GS that has some magical abilities added on top and is viable in high end PVE. But for that the elite spec needs to be good and not the weapon itself. So please give us something that is useful for the group. A mechanic similar to how Ranger spirits operate? Group wide buffs that only we can provide?

I would be a happy panda.

  9. I still feel like so much of Revenants problems are coming from its core design flaws.

    * Why have BOTH cooldowns AND energy? We have pretty long cooldowns with pretty high energy costs, worst of both worlds.

    * You have to decide between using utility skills OR weapon skills. Give me another professions where when you use an elite skill, you are unable to do anything else afterwards? Usually it feels like you just used your trump card, but with Rev, it is the opposite.

    * Legend swap is there to compensate for the lack of utility skills per legend. But as others have mentioned, what if one is dedicated to one specific role (Ventari)? You swap out of it and.... what?

    * I still cannot get over the fact that a profession based on mist-lore and magic does not have access to portals... But THIEF DOES????

Rev, to me is the absolute epitome of class fantasy, but gameplay wise it is so terrible, that I have so much trouble loving it and maining it... Hope that one day it changes.

  10. I hope for Greatsword, but not JUST that. We do not just need a GS for the sake of GS, but a power DPS focused viable elite spec. Right now, we either have condi dps, or some support roles, outside of which the class is absolutely not wanted in any game modes. We need a spec that does decent power dps and is desirable in raids and high lvl PVE content (it would be a dream if it was viable for PVP also, but me being a mostly PVE player, I am obviously biased towards it).

So, something like a group wide buffs outside of normal boons (like spirits or banners for instance), or even a new kind of boon that we bring to the table (like it was the case with alacrity and chrono).

So, yes, I am hoping the devs give us the fantasy (GS) along with a desirable overall usefulness.

    Literally all my fingers crossed.

  11. * New maps combine the best of POF and HOT maps (big event chains that keep you occupied, with huge, gorgeous design elements)

    * New cosmetic options for all races, the game is called Fashion Wars for a reason, and character looks is an important part in that

    * New Elite specs, variety is always good, even if they are not completely balanced at first, people want to look cool and do cool stuff with their characters with updated animations

    * Faction system from "Factions", applied to WvW

    * Lots of new armor sets in the core expansion (POF only really had a few extra armors such as Bounty Hunter and Funerary, that were a bit lackluster) that we can start hunting. Cantha gives us a lot of opportunities to spice up our armor sets

    * More legendaries?

    * More Fractals?

    * Incentive to do old dungeon content

I am confident that the story is going to be fine, I already like GW2 story arc a lot, so whatever they decide to do, I personally will be entertained. Underwater content is really tricky, cause either people love it or hate it. Maybe create a system where there is underwater content, but you are not forced to use underwater weapons? Like create land-zones underwater? (Gungam city from SW).

New class and race is probably really difficult at this point, and I would not want to devs to waste time on something, when it gives so little to the game. I do not see how playable Tengu will shake things up. Most people will still stick to human/norn female as that is where fashion really lies. The hardcore Asuras and Charrs will probably not change either.

(But whatever happens, Revenant needs a GS)

  12. I am not just saying that they are not as good as let's say, guardians or necros, that have a huge potential to ress you, and do a lot of damage. I am saying that it is way below any other class in all aspects.

    * Attack does little damage, at kinda slow intervals (signet of agony heal is absolutely negated by the fact that hit rate is lower than down-state health loss)

    * Skill 2 pushes target away, making so that sometimes, it will not be reachable by the autoattack....

    * Skill 3 is an aoe damage that definitely will not reach the target if you already used Skill 2 on it.

    * Thus, since normally you would use your skills in order (Skill 1 until 2 is available, then 2, then 3 once available), if you do that on Revenant, you just screwed yourself.

Is there any chance it will ever be fixed?

(And please, no comments such as, "you are not playing correctly if you are downed".)

Damn these are good suggestions. But people would probably cry because it is too op?

  14. Well, I actually feel good about the changes for Revenant, although I only tried them in PVE so far.

We have the new animation for sword, which is not that different, but is still a huge upgrade (yaaaaay).

Condition feels amazing, especially with the condi application on legend swap.

I like the battle scar system, I have a more tankier open world power build now.

So overall, satisfied, will have to see how it performs in competitive modes.

  15. > Thus why people are starting to look a condi builds in general, but once again, across all classes, not just rev.

The thing is... it would be amazing if we had a ranged condi weapon. Right now, shortbow is still terrible (moving enemies are not affected by skill2, skill 3, you cannot use in pvp at all, because you simply cannot hit the players with how clunky it is). I love shortbow in PVE and the animations look amazing, but in pvp it just does not work.

  16. I saw them in the original Balance patch preview, the comment was that they thing that the sword autoattack animation was not prevalent enough, and they added a new one (or just changed) the third animation in the autoattack chain.

Now, this part is missing from the Balance Patch update notes.

I am personally deeply saddened by this, as I always thought that the sword AA animations were a bit lackluster, and since a lot of builds use that, it felt bad knowing that most of the Revenant players are stuck with such a wonky animation. This was probably the most important change I was looking forward to.

    What do you guys think?

  17. Hi!

I wanted to do all achievements that I did not do in the past, and I ran into a problem in Long Live the Lich. The Gandaran Service Medal (do events in Kourna) achi needs you to complete 3 events where you need to destroy 3 cannons to get cannoneer's medals and ribbons and such. They are supposed to happen between meta events when the "reconfigure the cannons" events are not active.

The thing is, I waited HOURS and the event never spawned. Yet I do not see any note anywhere (wiki, or Dulffy) that there is a prerequisite for these events. They are just... suppoed to spawn between metas. I waited 3 metas and nothing.

Should I post this as a bug? Anyone know perhaps if there is a prerequisite for the event?

    Thanks!

  18. I have no problems with Braham. He is different from the rest of the group, as he is a wildcard, and he is still trying to find his place in the world and in the group as well. He struggles a lot, and is sometimes a source of conflict and sometimes comic relief for us. I have no problems with this. Since this is not lazy writing, this is exactly his character.

Growing up in his mother's shadow (Eir did not even mention up until the Silverwaster quest that she has a son...), trying to prove himself, loosing her, trying to find his goal (Jormag), trying to separate from the group to forge a legacy for himself by himself, then realising that he needs the group, because they have become his family. I think this is an excellent story, just maybe a bit different from what we have seen from the other characters. This is more of a personal story, and I think it's great that we have some of these as well.

But you know, everyone is welcome to feel different about this :)

  19. You really should change the post title. I also thought this was a major spoiler and was immediately let down. After seeing that it is not the case, I feel like the title is very misleading and borderline trolling.

  20. Hi Guys,

What if Anet introduced a new type of gear, between Ascended and Legendary, that had the ability to swap between 2 stats (e.g. Berserker and Harrier)?

I was wondering the other day if I ever had the chance to get legendary ( I do not have an awful lot of time to play), or will I be forced to carry multiple sets of gear for the restof my lilfe, or could there be a middle ground? That is when the idea hit.

This could be a set that is also hard to get (collections), but once you do all the collections, you get the recipe, and you can craft as many as you'd like, albeit they would be more costly than Ascended gear, and would have infusion slots as well. This way, if you want to have a main and an alt playstyle for a character (power dps, condi, healer, www, etc), it would make it a bit easier for you.

Just an idea, let's see if it gains any popularity :)

  21. I really liked this season, I was invested in the story, I liked the new maps, the new mounts, the content in general. I am sad that due to the layoffs, we have bigger gaps between episodes, but I am confident that Anet can come back better than ever in S5. There is one thing you cannot deny is that the developers absolutely love the game they create. Wishing them all the best of luck!
