  1. Hello,

Let me upfront admit, I am somewhat lazy that's why I'm here loll! I did research, looked through metabattle and some YouTube videos and looked through some threads. Etc. Yeah it's another one of these... But still kind of want a direct recommendation to your own builds or others as a simple gw2skills etc link, don't need to explain anything, just a good link will give me a look into the inside workings

I have a super old ranger that I want to refresh and would like to play wvw roaming power soulbeast particularly with a greatsword? Or sword? if that's viable. I've seen it in builds but I've fought a lot of pew pew bow rangers and only some good ones who stay melee and while bows are effective, I would prefer the options to stay a good lot of melee after the whole ranged opening act

    Mine too!

I felt that way too. It was a moving moment and I felt devastated and that we were actually part of pivotal history. Even if we had a way to help her come back it could've been delayed so that the loss could sink in more and feel more impactful

The simplicity of combat is nice, unlike some other MMOs where you have to keybind 32 different skills and memorize extremely comlex rotations, that can get tedious at times. Visually I find the game stunning at times. I genuinely enjoy most of the story. And while I am disappointed in some of the things that have happened within arenanet and the decisions made with the game over the past year or so, I am honestly holding out hope that true "expansion level content" such as new elite specs and meaningful masteries are in the works and not just something we're being told to keep us on the line. Time will tell.

The expansions were not expansion level content? What's your definition of expansion level content then lol? Or you mean in between expansions? In that case why would we be entitled to expansion level content in between expansions? I too like many others am hoping for expansion 3 which may come out in the future yet and for now I'm fine with just be smaller updates. I may take breaks and come back here and there as more content is rolled out and I suspect probably expansion 3 as well. That said, I will shut up since this isn't really a thread for that kinda discussion which have been beaten to death in other threads haha

  4. K I read half of this and only one thing stuck out to me

You haven't fully gotten into gw2 esp are not updated on the content now so you should not be saying you don't want to do the end game grind or anything with that sentimentality or think being at lvl 80 won't be fun onwards or think it'll be a chore to have to play certain builds or that it'd be a grind.

As someone else said, leveling is just an intro. The bulk of the game now beyond lvl 80 is way beyond what you imagine or know about. It IS fun. Much more freedom to do anything and the newer content is amazing, complex, interesting, unique, you'll still continue to level with masteries and abilities and more stuff. You can play many varieties of builds with the elite specs in the expansions and so on if you aren't particularly hardcore on high level grinding content where you need teams or are competitive in PvP. Everything else is fair game and almost sandbox like.

Tons to explore, fly through literally, and learn and challenge yourself with. The game begins at lvl 80. The leveling journey is not what's going to be the most fun.

That said, you'll need to pick something you do find fun even for levelling sure. But don't have misconceptions about lvl 80 and beyond.

  5. Mesmers smelling like perfume is my first impression but I imagine more realistically they could smell like static, you know like a metallic tinge like lightning or electricity or something statically charge does? Reason is Mesmers conceptually play with space and time and distorting reality, whether it's teleporting and portals or warping time with time warp or space with reflections or distortion/invuln/Mirage cloak etc, I imagine that creates rifts that affects molecular/atomic structures and reality, you may catch a whiff of those disturbed electrons as they poof around you.

  6. Lots of good points here. Also the way gw2 was designed and constructed from the get go back then (which was revolutionary) was micro updates through living story episodes. new maps, new story, and even new features including new skills and stuff like that involved in each map or story. Expansions saw verticality and flight. We had fractals and raids implemented. They could even change fundamental things like the way servers used to be divided, or wvw alliances/linking. And there's a lot waiting to be delved into like underwater combat etc. It's built to be modular. Therefore gw2 may not even need gw3. It could just constantly evolve.

  7. We can easily draw inspiration and reference from successful UI/UX patterns that exist across many platforms bc users typically come from experiences and expectations from those. For example it would be easy to reorganize into hierarchies such as categories and tags. Whatever way is best through testing and validation.

Expandable sections could be organized by expansion or LS arc, it could solely be game type or content focusing on purpose I.e. Dungeons, fractals, world boss, bounty train, mentoring, personal story, holidays, etc.

Either way, whatever the major hierarchies are or even maybe take out the hierarchy system all together and all further division/details can simply be done by selecting tags within the category I.e. Specific maps, purpose/game content type, etc. You can select multiple tags if necessary like map + game content type

Select or type (and autofill) a tag very quickly

Leave it organic and heavily customizable and user driven with lots of agency.

Maybe this might sound confusing at first but keep in mind how social media works. It does work and is easily searchable whether through typing key words or selecting/filtering tags to search for. You'd be able to have the same sections via tags just by selecting one but you'd be able to narrow down what you're looking for if you search/select multiple tags.

  8. My own contribution, is that I took my partner who just started playing to grab the age old treasure of mine, quaggan tonics. We escorted Blubloop and tried to tag team the champ drake and died alot until finally another player came around and we managed. And then got our quaggan tonics. Reason that this makes a good story is well nostalgic to return to Orr and core maps after all the new content and how excited I am to introduce the quaggan tonic to anyone and how it was a representation and a part of many past memories with guilds, or random people in LA or DR, or crazy stunts like quaggan tonics in wvw or other things like that

  9. For mesmer players/addicts, how many Mesmers do you have?

Personally over the years I've made 4 and they're all level 80s of difference races. Especially with build templates now, I run the same build on them.. And only switch if I play game content that requires it.... Redundancy? Hell yes. But totally not ashamed.

  10. After so many years, and having taken many breaks, I still find myself returning to the game, especially when the going gets tough in life, there's always a fun and safe place to be here.

With the holiday season here and in the spirit of gratitude and gifting, for veteran players, I'd love to hear your stories and of why you still play now after so many years, and newer players, what new memories have you discovered and made?

  11. In general I agree but similar to what was mentioned above

I think the first priority change should be everything actually saving the dyes we put on it properly LOL

Then, sell an infinite transmute for the time being

And then armor skins into a wardrobe system

And then somehow fuse outfits and armor skin stuff into one system, bc what's the point of having two appearance systems really??
