There WILL 100% be new elite specs. It's one of the best selling arguments of an expansions. And don't act like they break everything, the devs got better with balancing in the last year and I'm sure the new elite specs will be very fun to play.

Core mesmer is a completely different topic. There will 100% be a new elite specialization so why not theorize about it? Just because core mesmer and the current elite specs are in a bad spot, doesn't mean we can't have fun and create a new and engaging elite specialization.

Also, we don't need another "mesmer is so bad pls fix" post on this forum if there is already 293814848 threats about it.

Not really. There's plenty of bow designs that look like a harp: https://imgur.com/a/hOajsro and there's even some harp bow skins in the game already: https://imgur.com/a/SKEOTqe

It would totally work and be unique.

I think it might be a possibility that they allow some offhand-weapons to work on the main-hand but it's rather unlikely, not impossible, though.

    I totally agree with you!

If Minstrel only gets a warhorn offhand it would be really disappointing. Mesmer already has an elite spec mainhand and offhand weapon (axe and shield), it's time for a two-handed weapon and some more skill with the f-abilities (instruments).

It'd be like removing the teleport-dash-punch from Vanguard in Mass Effect 3.

    >

    > On top of that? I actually really enjoy the rhythm of shattering clones and then recreating them—It's one of the most thrilling things about the profession for me. I suppose I'd not be able to put my finger on exactly why, but it has much to do with the aforementioned novelty of it. I haven't played anything else that's really like that, why dismiss that which has worth?

They removed the classic shroud of necromancers with Scourge and gave them shades as a mechanic and it worked out just fine. I wish they would do something similar to the mesmer to give them more diversity and uniqueness than just having shatters all the time!

I'm 100% sure they won't add a new profession. It would be just extra work and they would have to create HoT and PoF specialization for that new class as well.

  8. > @"Dreamatics.4987" said:

    > I like the idea of shouts on mesmer but music theme not seeing it at all nope nope nope XD just add a new proffession bard and be done with it XD

They will not add a new profession. Every sub-class (elite spec) you can think of could work for one of the 9 classes. They have 3 metal, 3 leather and 3 cloth classes right now. Making a totally new profession would make it unbalanced again and they would need to make a new elite spec for HoT and PoF for that new class as well. Way too much work and not needed anyway since elite specs are already a thing.

    > >

    > > But anyways, I’ll offer my two cents to the “Minstrel” idea... when I think of Minstrel, I think of a variety of instruments used to make music, so I’m going to assume that we would get “Bundles/Kits” that give us access to a variety of abilities. Yes it does seem like Mesmers would be getting a lot but there are other classes that are overloaded as well.

    > >

    > > How would it work with clones/phantasms? To be honest, that’s always the one thing that’s causing problems for the Mesmer to explore new and fresh builds. So I’d be perfectly fine to sacrifice having no clones/illusions summoned to get bundles that give us XX number of new skills.

    >

    > or they could make it like FB thomes, but to get them you actually have to generate clones to get the effect.

    > it would be like FB except with actual drawback.

Yeah that's what I suggested too :P but instead I'd prefer having 4 different instruments to choose from like firebrand tome skills. Would add a lot of flavor and versatility to the mesmer!

    > So far, mesmer has been only about creating clones and shattering them for various effects. Why not look at the class in a different manner? Why not boosting the clones themselves this time with the new spec? If Bard is really in talks, what if the shatters were replaced by some "melody" effects where the function of the clones differs depending on the one you choose (over the time, one makes your clones passively heal you, the other increases might, the other provides you with damage reduction) etc - something that would finally compensate the lack of output that mesmer has. I would really love to see a utility skill that would transform all the three clones into illusions for one single attack (with a considerable cooldown of course)...just give us something that will finally make people stop saying "You play mesmer? Why don't you play something else?", because whatever the trait you pick with mesmer, there is a profession that can do it better. Mesmers have been seriously tortured over the years, and yea, I guess there will be many people trying to tell me off of this opinion because it sounds too dramatic, but how about other professions who are OP enough and still get more buffed up each time an update comes out? The new expac is called End of Dragons, but for me it will be End of Playing unless the devs finally reinvent the uniqueness of the mesmer and stop trashing its professions once and for all.

Mirage already does that. Each clone gained a new ambush attack and with the axe #3 and illusionary ambush, all clones attack the same target. Chronomancer already enhanced phantasms with Chronophantasma.

In my opinion we don't need another spec that focuses on clones/phantasms and gives them something new.

Instead, I'd like to have completely new f1-f4 skills (instruments/songs) as stated in my post. Thus, the Mesmer would get something really new, like Scourge with their new shades got. That would be super interesting if you ask me and a lot of fun to play with!

BTW, I agree that mesmer needs some core reworks to make them more viable.

I fell in love with PvP in GW2. The build diversity is so strong and I love making new and unique builds. That is what got me into PvP in the first place. But they took a lot of that unique feeling away with bad balancing decisions (mirage one dodge, excuse me? Was there no other way to balance mirage because they feel bad to play right now) and the current meta doesn't help the situation.

I hope I can get that old feeling back when I first started playing PvP in GW2. But I'm not sure.

I don't know why there is so much toxicity, especially against new players or players that try to learn a class/build. Unless you are a complete pro (and probably even then) people just hate on you. Also, the bots are a real problem in PvP, there's so many of them! Why doesn't arenanet act and ban those bots?

  13. I stopped playing GW2 for 2 years and have returned to it about 3 weeks ago and yesterday I gave PvP a try again.

I checked out some popular builds, current meta, did some unranked matches and then went into ranked.

And holy cow, this PvP community is really toxic! I play Dead by Daylight a lot so I am familiar with toxic people and a toxic ommunity but I never thought it would be like that in GW2 as well.

The first match I get called out a noob and moron for playing a scourge. I told them it's literally my first match but they didn't care and my team insulted me. I thought GW2's community is nice and wholesome... well that might be true unless you go into PvP. I hope the devs adress these issues and check player reports to make PvP less toxic because it really kills the fun of this gamemode.

This was the first mission that I ran into where not doing the mechanic made the mission way more difficult. I've still not fully committed my CC skills to memory. At the original state, I could not get off enough CC fast enough to break the bar.

    >

To be fair I didn't remember any mechanics. I just kept spamming my damage skills and he was dead pretty easily with my mirage not even maxed out.

Don't compare a normal boss from a story instance to a raid boss or something like that. I killed him within a minute I think with just spamming skills but well.

I WISH it was both! Because why not? Scourge is condi and heal so Minstrel could be specced into either power DPS or heal or hybrid! Mesmer lacks such elite specs and it would just be perfect in my opinion.

  17. > @"Svez Poizon XD.5268" said:

    > I didn't read whole topic but man i would love to see shortbow mesmer, with music it would be even better.

Exactly! My mesmer is all purple-themed and my dreamer that's waiting for her would just look so great in combination.

Also, music-themed classes are a rare sight in MMORPGs and would give gw2 something special. I personally love music classes in the few MMORPGs that have them such as Allods, AION, Eden Eternal, etc.

  18. Yes they should. They are not THAT great to justify them being able to killed (almost instantly a lot of times) in PvE and competitive modes. No other class has a class mechanic that can be "destroyed" except Ranger pets but they can heal them, are way tankier and they can swap them out and instantly recover them if they do so.
