Magic in this game is not like other games. Power increases the damage of all attacks. Instead of magic vs physical, look at it as power, condition, support, and tank. Power builds use power, precision, and ferocity, and rely on dealing direct damage as opposed to condition damage. Condition builds use condition damage, expertise, and precision, and rely on using damaging conditions: bleeding, poison, burning, confusion, and torment. Support builds use healing power and concentration and are all about healing and boons. Tanks are all about taking hits for others and use toughness and vitality. This applies to all classes in GW2, not just the physical classes or the spell casters.

Also, lore wise, all classes use magic, just some more so than others.

  2. As a new player, you should NEVER use a level-80 boost until you levelled a character or two the old fashioned way. With that said, the best way to do this is by exploring. What I like to do is map complete my race's starting zone, then its city, then its level 15-25 zone. Then I explore LA and the cities, starting areas and level 15-25 zones of the other races. By this time, you'll either be level 80 or close to it.

I have played since the day the game came out back in 2012, and I haven't crafted once since 2013. Do you need to do for certain aspects of the game? Yes, you do, but it's not required to play the game.

@Andrej.4293, The wonderful thing about this game is that it doesn't force you to do anything. You only have to do crafting, story, exploring, pvp, wvw, dungeons, Fractals, raids, strikes, ect. if, and only if, you want to. My favourite part of the game is build crafting. Speaking of, you said that you're playing Soulbeast, but feel like you're not doing any damage. I just made a fun build the other day for Soulbeast that I really enjoy. I can share it with you want. I don't thinks it's a meta build, though.

Which brings me to my final point: never do something in GW2 because you feel like you have to for other players. Do what you want to do. Don't like crafting? No one is forcing you to do it. Hate Fractals? Avoid it. Have a build that you enjoy but it's not "meta?" Screw the meta! Play the game the way you want to, not the way that others want you to.

  4. During the Black Friday sales, I bought a handful of level-80 boosts. Now I'm trying to figure out the fastest and easiest way to get 250 Hero Points on my new characters. I know that HoT and PoF give 10 HP per challenge, but what are the best ones? If it helps any, I have all mounts except for the Skyscale and Warclaw, and I have been to all expansion and LW locations on other characters.

    > That's incorrect. Core WvW servers are linked on a regular basis. I'm on Piken Square and we are linked with Blacktide.

As allies of enemies? Because if you are saying as enemies, than you misunderstood me. If you are saying as allies, then my knowledge of WvW is outdated.

That's PvE and EotM. Not core WvW. Not until alliances are finally a thing.

  7. I'd just like to point that in the book Sea of Sorrows, there was an Asura warrior who, in one of the most bad-ass scenes in the books, introduced the head of his hammer to the groin of an enemy Charr. Also, in the chapter of the PS for Charr, Blood can recruit a Mesmer into their warband, and Ash will do the same to an Elementalist.

Have you read the books? Ghosts of Ascalon in particular talks about how some people view Necromancers (and other types of magic to a lesser extent), Sea of Sorrows shows a hand full of just about every profession in action and shows that some, if not all, Asura don't believe in fighting fair, and Edge of Destiny showcases Destiny's Edges' professions. More so Logan's than the others except for maybe Zoja, but it's still a good read.

  9. I don't have the books with me right now, so I can't get you all an exact quote, in the Inheritance Cycle, aka the Eragon series, it is said the collective noun for dragons is thunder becuase of the sound that their wings make while in flight. So a Thunder of Skyscales. Or as I like to call it, a Thundah! Ah ah hah hah! Sorry. Couldn't resist.

  10. I'm surprised that this is not mentioned, but "they" is also the pronoun of choice for people who identify as non-binary, or, in other words, they don't identify as either male or female and, as such, don't prefer gender-specific pronouns such as "he" or "she."

    >

    > It-doesn't-work.

It's called the bandwagon mindset. "Someone else did something, therefore everyone needs to do it." It's a very dangerous and stupid mindset, but somehow, it's still a very popular one.

    >

    > I played Beta, and early access, Pre-HoT was just more simpler and a better experience imo.

Do you build craft, or do you have other people craft builds for you (in other words, get your builds from YouTube, the forums/wiki, build sites, ect.)? I ask, because from the point of view of someone who spends more time build crafting than anything else, Pre-HoT was not, to quote you, "more simpler and a better experience." The old trait and skill systems were confusing and honestly made me not want to play. Don't get me started on leveling up weapons and earning skills and traits. Yeah, no.

There is a difference between trash talking and making people feel like shit. The first can be fun if done correctly and the other person jumps on board. The second is not cool by any means.
