Rohkta.6057
Dear community members, Since a few years I am returning to GW2. I just completed the living stories and the Path of Fire expension. The last couple of days I am enjoying myself in WvW on my Guardian (main). Wvw Is a part of the game I never played a lot but I find now more and more interesting. I am currently searching on the internet for a correct build that suits my gameplay. I am aware of the fact that everyone has other needs for his gameplay but I found myself a bit in the dark here. All the time I invested in PVE my Berserker build suited me quite well. But in PVP or WvW you need way more survivorbillity to stay alive. I am a kind of support/tank kind of player who enjoys playing in large teams to get to objectives. I try to stay for now more in the backline because of the fact that I still learning and get finished of quickly. Because I don't know al the team maneuvering not to well. On Metabattle I discovered a [build ](https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Firebrand_-_Support_Firebrand) that I like. But the armor that is required is Ascended. Because I don't want to invest to much (crafting) in one thing not knowing if it suits my needs. So I would like to start with Exotic armor. I try to match the stats (healing, toughness ect) of the Ascended armor in the Exotic armor, but I don't know what to eleminate since that stats on Exotic are less then Ascended. On the internet there is much information avalible on what you can take. But players always talk about the small advantages (1,5 percent extra healing, or 2% extra damage). I am not yet on this level or a hardcore Guild Wars player to get into this part, yet. I hope to see your vision on my needs and hope to get some kind of starting point to play with. As I said, I am a returning player and not yet to invested in all the small advantages. As a summary: * Class played: Guardian (Firebrand) - DH is a possibility to * Role: Backline support/damage dealer. (PVE style was tank/dps) * Starting point: Exotic armor * Want to buy the armor/jewelry of the TP Kind regards, Nino *Sorry for my bad English as I am not a native speaker. Sovereign.1093
Hi friend. This is how I'd go about your guardian issue. 1. Play Pvt for now. Have hoelbrak runes. Energy sigil and force. Just base guard. If you got karma you can but the melandru armor on melandru temple Staff gs. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Temple_of_Melandru 2. From this. Do reward tracks that give you trinkets rings and backpiece and amulet. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_trinket This will take a while but once you get this, you can go for minstrel stats. 3. Once done with trinkets go for armor tracks. Because armor = allows you to get minstrel stats. Then weapon. 4. Go for ascended weapon first. So you get your minstrel staff gs. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_weapon 6. Then finally go for your ascended armor. 7. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_armor Start with this but exotic http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PWgAYFlFw8YYsO2IecT6rdA-zVIYSU9XGZWVVkqeNA-w Then go work on trinkets - ascended Blood stone fen for ring amulet backpiece and eating I think Easier source simply /wiki ascended Firebrand http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PWgAYFlRwwYSsOmJm0XrvdA-zVJYjR1fZkZVVdq67A-w

Ascended is a noticeable increase in stats but not a large jump from exotic that it would make you not able to function - furthermore the builds least affected by exotic vs ascended are condi builds and support/healing. If you haven't already start gathering winter berries in Bitterfrost to get a few ascended trinkets. It's cheaper than crafting exotics (since it's virtually free and will just cost you some time) and fill out the rest of your ascended trinkets from the other maps like ember bay, draconis mons, etc. If you end up buying the exotics, not only will it cost you a lot of gold, but it will have less stats than if you spent a bit of time farming the maps I mentioned; the winter berries for example you can farm the same map on multiple characters per day - if you have 5 characters you can make everything you need in less than a week. You won't need to eliminate anything, just follow the same stat spread that's in the build you were looking at. If it's full minstrel stats for example and a couple pieces of clerics, match each piece. You will have slightly lower stats, but not enough that will impact your gameplay experience in any significant way.
Turkeyspit.3965
One has to be careful with builds posted on sites like Metabattle as they tend to be optimized (example: they show ascended armor). Don't let that hold you back; you can do just fine with exotic weapons, armor and trinkets. There is a loss in stats, but it's not a huge one. I have multiple sets of ascended armor and legendary armor, but my 'current' main WvW character has exotic armor and does fine. Same with stats as Strider mentioned: if you can't get some of the rarer stats like Minstrel or Trailblazer, just use what you can get, be it Clerics or Dire/Carrion. There are several methods to obtain stat selectable Exotic Armor from WvW sources. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Triumphant_Armor_Reward_Track https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Warlord%27s_armor And in PvE: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bladed_armor
Infusion.7149
stat-select ascended shield : https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Caladbolg_Astera Minstrel's Orichalcum Imbued Inscription from Heart of Thorns Story with _Is A Good Offense _ achievement (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Jungle_Provides) Minstrel's Intricate Gossamer Insignia from Heart of Thorns Story as well I highly recommend having ascended amulet, trinkets, rings, back, and weapons. You can use the insignia to stat change an ascended chestpiece and then you will be at > 98% of a full ascended set. The easiest amulet + ring + trinkets are via Eternal Ice in the new Bjora map. Convert the ice to Difluorite / Mistborn mote for the rings and 2nd trinket.
Vrath.1754
If you've done some of the verdant brink map meta you can use the currency to buy the Bladed armor boxes, everything but the chest, these are stat selectable exotic pieces and have the ability to choose the stats. Check your built up currencies and see what you have, you might be able to build an exotoc set already with stuff you've already collected. The firebrand brands war miter helmet you received for unlocking the spec should have selectable stats as well I cant recall what that is limited to, but the bladed armor box sets now I believe have all the stat combos available. And are pretty cheap if you've participated in that map meta. For weapons you can get exotic minstrel like the Firebrand axe, you received might have it. That's pretty cheap way to get exotics with the stats you might be looking for. The weapon collections for elite specs is a pretty easy way to get ascended weapons, then you can stat swap them in the mystic forge if one of their 3 stats arent what you are looking for. Eg: Hearald unlocks a shield, firebrand an axe, druid a staff ect. With a little time you can have ascended weapons from the collections and trinkets from the LW maps with exotic armor and do very well in WvW. Dagger.2035
I would recommend the Burn Guardian from Metabattle. It's a backline build which tries to hit enemies frequently to trigger Virtue of Justice's passive effect. Since it's a condition build you aren't impacted by using exotic weapons with a lower weapon strength. https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Guardian_-_Burn_Guard Here's an example of a build you can create with exotic armor. This build uses carrion which provides some power damage, but you can use dire if you need more toughness. I also switched Wall of Reflection out for Merciful Intervention. The meta build doesn't have any mobility and Merciful Intervention provides a nice teleport if you get out of position. Just spam Sword of Justice and Symbols from range to generate a lot of burn stacks. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PWwAYt/lFwQYhsO2IO+KZrNA-zVIYbU/PG5S16VljPSQsHeLJ8DA-w
