Hide Pet Names

I've seen years of request go completely ignored on this topic. How hard could this possibly be? Just let us hide the names of our pets. Very annoying to have names all over my screen just bopping around as a necro.

 

I've also seen many people comment, "I don't even notice them." You are not helpful, and we don't care if you don't notice it... We do. Please refrain from commenting if that is all you have to say. I'm not looking for a debate on whether or not you want it. The option will obviously not affect you in the slightest, so mind your business.

Are you sure you don't have "show all NPC names" ticked in options? That's the only one I see that makes everyone's pet names show up besides my own. I have the box unchecked. Otherwise, pet names only show up when I press 'Alt'.

 

Edit: Or maybe you're talking about seeing your own pet names which are part of your party and I don't think you can turn off..

Yes! It's so annoying that you can't hide them! However...

Knowing ANet (and assuming the things one reads on this forum are accurate), it could well be prohibitively difficult.

Disabling "show all NPC names" doesn't disable pet names. There really isn't a way of turning them off.

I agree, it would be nice to have this option. I always name my ranger pets and put some thought into the names, but I still don't want to see it all the time. I know what they're called. I rarely play minion master, but that's even more annoying because there's so many of them.
