Dagger for reaper PvE?

Axe is not a dps weapon. (It has the second least dps for necro right after staff, are you aware of that?)

Staff is not a dps weapon. (It is a pure utiltiy weapon. Each skill has utility: life force, heal, poison+chill, condi transfer+blast, aoe interrupt.)

Sceptre is a condi dps weapon.

Dagger is core's power dps weapon.

GS is a hybrid damage weapon. It is useful in deathly chill as well as in onslaught and blighter's boon builds. It is even viable as a utility weapon just for its pulsing aoe blind, its life force generation, its vulnerability application and its pull.

It makes no sense to transform dagger to a condi weapon without a replacement. You will inevitably kill core power necro (which is already almost dead). Adding a bleed to the autoattack would not help core necro, but be problematic for condi reaper and scourge (potentially too strong).

It will help in creating support power scg variant with spite bm scg and using dread trait to get f3 barrier spam. This build can be really useful for fractals and in some mob heavy raid encounters. Its just that it doesnt do enough power damage right now to look into going for power & healing stats.

It's interesting but really ... unless it's buffed to top DPS ... what do you gain from this adjustment? Dagger doesn't 'solve' a problem for any situation in the game ... so buffing damage coefficients doesn't really up it's appeal.

The fix for dagger is to make game designed so that self-sustain matters more in more encounters that most people have.

Dagger on both Necro and Thief need to fully cleave large hit boxes; i.e., 3 targets in the 130 range in PvE. It's a simple fix Arenanet can do but they have not performed a PvE balance update in more than a year. Once the daggers are no longer nerfed in PvE due to being artificially limited to 67% of the AA chain on large hit boxes, Anet can review it later for other number adjustments.

Exactly, this is the core of the dagger issue and probably the most difficult thing to fix if the devs want to stick to the fondamentals of the necromancer.
