Another idea for an ES

So I wont bother going into traits or weapons, simply the idea. For now lets call it the Ravager.

An elite spec that has an equally unique mechanic .. Balancing is sketchy, but lets just roll with it for now.

The basic idea is to make a health sacrificing glassy power dps.

You "cut" your hp via utilities and gain huge damage boosts or other bonuses.

Cutting Hp itself is a unique mechanic, where a large chunk based on the cast ia greyed out and unhealable.

Cut hp decays at the same or slower rate of barrier and eventually you can be healed to full again.

You can down youself with you utilities, but heres where it gets good.

While down you gain a transformation with preset utilities and weapon skills.

The weapon skills focus on high chasedown, huge lifesteal on say the 5 and moderate ls on autos.

Utilities would include huge superspeed access, stability bursts (say 10 stacks for 2 seconds) and a heal that is an attack which can be dodged, but revives the necro for a large percent if it hits.

The idea is to create a class that is normally slow and vulnerable, but once struck down becomes overwhelming and bloodthirsty.

Things to note: downed bonus damage from spite should apply as normal. you can only be revived by healing through lifesteal or killing a foe.(it would be too hard to res a ravager as they move anyhow.) since the downed transform is still a downstate this would also mean you cannot heal them through boons or normal healing, only more lifesteal effects.

Only having the good stuff when you've gone down is going against the design of the rest of the game. Plus, what happens if you actually rally? Now you're stuck in suckage mode again.

If you're going to do a spec with a sacrifice theme, you need to give it lots of immediate power in its skills.

For example, my Cultist elite spec idea had Sacrifice skills, which cost large amounts of health. One example of such is Atrophy, which is a 5 target ranged AoE spell that damages, strips Might and inflicts Slow, Weakness, Chill, and Poison for 8 seconds. Cooldown proposed? 25 seconds (before traiting). Getting hit with it won't kill you on its own, but you absolutely will suck at everything until you cleanse it. Granted, this was designed before all of the anti-cleansing power creep. Nowdays, it would apply a unique debuff that pulses those conditions for 2 seconds every 2 seconds.

A sacrifice theme needs to include immediate payoffs. Otherwise, you don't get to make use of the improved power. If you do have to have some sort of delay, then the payoff for that on top of a sacrifice theme needs to be extreme.
