I see you addressed the dopamine element up there too. I salute you as well! This loot box thing is getting out of control. First the Black Lion Chest was ok, because it really had a mix of small useful things and a few big things like permanent contracts. Then exclusive skins and gliders went in there to up the response from the players. Then they took away one of the slots with boosters and now a seasonal item to reduce the chances of getting something good. Yes a fourth slot can show up but it is rare. Now we have true gambling lite edition with the gemstore loot box the only way to get new skins except for skins bought outright with gems. Sounds like conditioning to me.

Maybe the best way to solve this could be a third currency avaible mostly through real cash.

Something like

1. **Gold.**. Used for most of tyria trades and for TP. The main game currency. Can be converted with no limit into GEMS.

2. **GEMS** . Used for QoL shop and RNG based categories of items. Old fashion items will be moved from EMERALD to GEMS once some months have been passed. One small quantity od gems can be converted into Emeralds every month.

3. **EMERALDS** : Used to buy new aesthetic stuff ( all QoL and RNG stuff will be always be avaible through GEMS ) or current aesthetic stuff but not through RNG ( you will be able to chose what to buy ). Can be converted into gems with no limits. Mostly avaible through real money ( except the monthly free conversione gems to Emeralds ).

Then, players who pay will be able to chose what to buy, while players who don't will be only able to chose a single item due to the Emerald conversion's limits.

Spending real money will aware you with the specific skins, while for those who don't want to support the game or simply don't want to pay extras, there will be a time Gate way which allows them to buy however what they want.

No rng on real money, which seems to be the Major complain here.

Sorry if it was already said or if it is a bit of an off-topic, but I just did some quick math (look up hypergeometric distribution if interested) to have some solid numbers.

So, let's suppose you have no mount skins yet and you would really like to get 5 among all 31 of them. You decide to purchase 5 lootboxes (which would cost you 2,000 gems if I'm not mistaken).

Then the probability of you getting at least one of your desired skins (at random) is about 61%, with the probability of getting all five desired skins out of 5 lootboxes about 0.0006%. So there's that.

It's like taking your kid onto the casino floor and letting them watch you play blackjack. The only way to not expose them to that is to not let them play GW2 at all.

> This sounds like blaming a third party source for not teaching your kids the right thing instead of taking responsibility as a parent to teach your children right things. At some point, a child will be exposed to things like theft through things like news media or from their peers. There is no stopping that unless you just lock them away in a windowless room with no outside contact ever. The job of the parent is to teach their children how to handle those situations when exposed to it. If you are taking your child to a casino floor then you, as the parent, should explain the risks and dangers of gambling instead of relying on some company to do your job as a parent for you.

Indeed but many many people are exploitable and that doesn't justify exploiting them.

If you teach the kids well, they will know what to look for and will be unable to exploitable in future.

I’m calling you out on your fake moral outrage on this topic, unless you can point to me your equal outrage over the violence, killing, slavery, alcohol use, option to slaughter peaceful ambient creatures and black lion chests... this game has.

You are guaranteed a skin drop, and not a duplicate skin either. Players can also get these items for free by exchanging gold to gems... This on top of the fact the game has $0 in monthly sub fees.

If your real complaint is the rng aspect, and not being able to buy individual skins, then be prepared to have Anet offer individual ones for 2000 gems each like the forged skin.
