Why nerf steady focus in PvE?

In terms of burst DPS of course Marksmanship greatsword builds became even burstier against breakbar targets thanks to the interrupt trait changes. The balance dev posted that they are aiming to make power and condition builds more distinct: increasing the ramp-up time for conditions would be one part of that, but presumably tweaking the passive sustained damage traits of power builds will be part of that as well.

Would have been better with just a carbon copy of the Dragonhunter GM minor. Projectile damage modifier is far too limiting. It's literally a second longbow trait with additional use for shortbow and axe, the latter two obviously being useless. More useable in PvP and WvW without a modifier based on endurance, but even then you have better choices. The removal of Steady Focus just neglects some of the changes to GS/Sword/Off-hand Axe.

I would also move the Opening Strike cripple from the minor trait to Predator's Onslaught and add a refresh Opening Strike functionality to PO. Lead the Wind should refresh Opening Strike on stealth. The minor should be replaced with a damage modifier against foes with vulnerability. At that point marksmanship would look somewhat like a decent power line for all modes, all power weapons, as well as the Opening Strike mechanic finally being streamlined and not dependent on Remorseless.

After the last nerf to precision, this last one makes absolutely no sense.

At its core, there was really no need to have Far-Sighted work only with projectiles or even alter Steady Focus so drastically. It would have been a great to have Steady Focus left alone with a choice between burst and sustained damage modifiers, or to have Far-Sighted work with **all** forms of direct damage attacks.

Even if the current version were to be altered to work with all attacks instead of only projectiles, it's still weaker than the minor found on Dragonhunter, and if any QoL change were to happen for Far-Sighted to work with all attacks - it will be at least 3-4 months for the balance team to go, "Well, maybe that was a bad design choice."

For years, one of the simplest suggestion from players was: "5% damage bonus if endurance is over 50%, 10% if endurance is at 100%". Why they went with a lesser Pure Sight is unknown and odd.

In the end, it seemed the balance team was more interested in pushing another Longbow trait to go with Read the Wind than doing Marksmanship right by having all the GMs interact or have synergy with Opening Strikes.
