Medium chest piece armor is the ugliest armor in the game. It covers legs and butts of our characters. With light armor i can switch between shaman guy, police officer guy, King guy, sailor moon, etc etc etc, but medium armor gives me choice of trench coat thug or trench coat trader or trench coat gunslinger. It DOESN'T MATTER what legs piece i pick, 80% of leggings will be covered by trench coat. Even legendary armor is the big shiny, animated trench coat!!!

Light and heavy armor alows us create stunning appearance of the character. These two has freedom to choose. But in comparison with them medium armor give us one tool to choose from. Light armor has nice chests, but 3 pants, meduim armor has lots of pants, but few non trench coat chest peice, heavy armor is King.

Please, Anet add non trench coat meduim armor in your next +3 updates.

I say the problem is Mediums have what Light wants and Lights have what Mediums want.

Mediums have pants.

Lights have Shirts/Tops.

As I said, I previewed ALL medium armor sets, from the bank wardrobe tab.

It's not that none of it looks good, per se... It's that almost all of it is a particular style (i.e. pirate/trench coat) which works fine conceptually with toons that have a swashbuckling theme. It really does not work at all with toons that are more the prototypical fantasy rogue, which I'm guessing is what the majority of players who main a thief are looking for, nor for rangers. As a concept, you think of those classes as a nimble, stealthy, fast-attacking class that specializes in precise (i.e. critical) strikes--the thief more with melee weapons, the ranger with a bow. You're not going to be effective at that kind of combat style wearing a 10-pound heavy leather trench coat--it's too heavy and too restrictive. It just makes no sense. For engineers I think the case is more arguable, as they theoretically need someplace to put all those gadgets, but even still it would be good to have more options. [And yes, I am aware this is a video game, and suspension of disbelief comes with the territory; but it's an RPG, and a certain amount of realism is expected as well--suspension of disbelief only goes so far before your eyes start rolling...]

My medium-armor-classed toons wear either sneakthief or assassin's because that's really the only option that both makes sense and looks good. They look great, though on females they show too much skin (which I'm not opposed to, it just doesn't fit the concept of my characters), and there is really just not any other non-trenchcoat option that looks good... unless you want to pay money for them. And even then...

Yes, exactly.

I hope this is sarcasm. If not, this is already out the window since some of the sets are not trenchcoats, and since the advent of outfits it's even less of a thing. This is an old argument, just like its counterargument, and it never really made any sense, except maybe in PvP. A far better solution for that would be something like a class indicator being (optionally) part of every player's name plate.

That's exactly what I'm hoping to avoid. Both of the main options that aren't trench coats are exactly that. If you read my post, you saw that I said I wanted waistcoats and jerkins... if you have any idea what those are, you know they don't really show any skin.

I agree 100% with Erasculio (both posts!), even if you ARE playing P/P--again, unless you want to play a pirate. I play S/P - P/P on my thief but I still don't want to look like a pirate. [FWIW I would really prefer to play D/D - SB but D/D just doesn't do enough damage--which should be its own thread--and I personally find SB kind of slow & awkward as a combat weapon.]

Both! Though I mostly play females. I assume you've tried the sneakthief set, and the (human cultural) assassin's set? Is it that those show too much skin? I do actually like them a lot, but not everyone wants to show that much skin on their toons.

I don't want to wear anything that isn't a simple short sleeve with pants.

I don't want to dress like if I went into a fight I would die instantly from a rouge bullet/arrow/dagger/kunai/whatever because I was too bare.

I also don't want to look like a nun either.

Honestly, it could do with a lot less armour actually. So-called "skimpy" armour for both sexes. Warriors in this game don't really survive by absorbing blows - they're more agile berserkers than straight-up knights. A lot of the rare stuff showcase this by looking more gladiatorial than plated knight, but it is rare. I wish there was more like it.

Right... that's a big part of my complaint too. While the skimpy armors look nice, they are not class-realistic.

You tell me why a Santa Hat would make me bald when my hair is like this?

So yes. I want to cover my head and not Britanny Spears my head when I do it.

Is there any other hats except that top one? I want more than just that pimp hat for the top of my head.

QQ. that's not a pimp hat... it's a swashbuckler's kinda hat... thas why i like it..

the only thing that i saw that looked like a HAT... that looked like you could have hair with it, was the "Ringmaster's Hat". the male version has a bandana wrapped around the back, but the female version has a fringe that looks like it might be recolorable to look like hair (which is the same system the hat i pictured uses)

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ringmaster%27s_Hat

unfortunately, it's not currently available.

Well, the obvious answer would be you simply tucked your hair in the hat to keep it out of the way, that is why if you take the hat off, you flop your hair out again.

Jokes aside, if that if what you want, the only game I personally know of with the graphic setup to both wear a hat and keep your hairstyle intact is Trove. I wish you good fortune trying to find that somewhere else tho.

Ringmaster's Hat... with the hair portion dyed abyss.

altho... to be fair... while GW2 has awesome customization capabilities... the games that can handle plopping a hat down on top of hair and keeping it visible are few and far between... and figuring out how to do so is normally a nightmare of clipping and weird hairstyles. it's easiest to just cover the hair

that said, the most egregious offender i noticed when looking through the available headwear was the "Top Hat" it looks sharp, but it also looks like you have literally been shaved bald. most of the rest of the helms and cowls and hoods... don't show hair for obvious reasons.

Or just let it clip. I really don't care if it clips.

Stuff clips on many Charr... stuff clip on many outfits (yes I've seen so much clipping on the weights without people bawling why we can't mix weight armour)... stuff clip from weapons, shoulder gear when we do certain movements and animations and whatever else.

Just let the stupid things clip.

![](https://i.imgur.com/26Ok4iT.jpg "")

Like here.

Yes, it makes sense in this case because it's a ghost book, but my hair would clip in every and any back piece I have. Ghost or not.

Don't hear people usually complaining on that.

Just give me my hair with my hats.

Soul calibur 3 released back in 2000 first introduced a character creation mode. All their hat show hair unless the character is bald. I am not sure why GW2 released at 2015 has to remove hair when hat gear on.
