Question about wintersday presents.

Hello :)

I have been wondering if I should hoard as many presents as I can or just sell them instantly. Like are the prices gonna go up in the next 6 months or something?

I've just been opening all of mine. It seems a lot of the goodies inside sell pretty well :)

I think they traditionally start high, go down as WD progresses and presents are sold in bulk, and then go back up mid summer when the supplies are lower.

They will progressively go down and I don't feel the need to hold onto them, so I just sell them every time I have a full stack

GW2 spidy shows they were about 8s for a bit in July, and briefly toward the start of wintersday this year, so I imagine those would be the best times to list value wise. But personally I can't be bothered to horde stuff, so I just list them in batches as I get them.

Essentially, prices fall substantially between opening of any festival and closing, with the rate of falling dependent on demand for gift-dependent shinies. This past year, it fell nearly 50% in a few weeks; the year before, only 30%.

 

Prices usually fall or hold steady for a few months afterward: the impatient liquidate some of their stacks each week, while investors with more space hold off until the price rises again. The Wintersday Gift peak price is reached traditionally between during the summer, although sometimes the first hour or day of the festival is good, too.
