tbh, sword and its heat mechanic doesn't synergize at all, you get 25% crit chance above 50 heat (50% crit above 100 heat) but you already overcap your crit chance from arms. Even if you equip a different mix of statsto just go for 75% crit chance (so u get the rest from heat), you won't have enough crit chance when in photon forge mode or kits.

Thats why I think sword crit chance should be changed (do more dmg when above the heat threshold - crit damage or %). Futhermore buffing Photon Forge a bit as atm it doesn't feel bursty at all (comapared to Dragonhunter or Tempest/Weaver).

As for traits. The only modifier Holo gets is when its in Photon Forge and above 50%. Modifiers is fine but so far not worth as Photon Forge isnt bursty enough so you are forced to blow yself up to get 15% to pull of dps. Other traits gives Burning but its neglectable, would suggest it to do sth like your burning dmg does 5% more, or you do 5% more dmg to burning foes (as you cant keep Photon Forge forever and we could change Laser's Edge to 10%) or make the Burning stack longer.

Would like to see any changes to Holosmith as atm Core Engi is just so much better.

Uhh, this makes less sense than you think.

 

Just because transforms scale of lv 78 blues does not mean that the individual skills can't be scaled to do the damage they want.

 

If they addressed the transform issue independent of an effort to fix Holosmith, they would most likely change all the modifiers on the class skills to be closer to the target DPS.

My scourge has been a lot of fun to play.

 

But the nerfs are coming. Firebrand, Weaver, and Scourge are not going to survive the first balance patch unscathed.

If other things get nerfed more than engi, any engi build (including holosmith) is going to be stronger in comparison. Why would holosmith magically be left out of such a relative buff?

Because core engi is still better than holosmith.
