Sure, I found this page `https://www.telstra.com.au/broadband/extras/broadbandprotect` and then scrolled down to the '24x7' button (It's Telstra's dumb purple colour). Logged in and then in MyAccount, under the Internet Service it should show Add-Ons, then Telstra Broadband Protect. Looks like this:

Hooray, maybe I'm not as stupid as I think I am. <3

Yeah, I felt pretty daft after messing with everything physically and then realizing all I had to do was click a link. If it were me I'd tell everyone in the house to jump ship but it's a bundle deal for us and I'm too lazy to try and get a democratic vote. Hopefully some of the workarounds will get you in. Typical Telstra but. ;)

I tried what you posted but they still block it but gives the option to continue.. but clicking continue just does nothing.. just gonna have to call them and ask them 'nicely' to allow that domain/IP on their proxy.

I don't get it, do I click remove to the telstra broadband protect, and what did it do before I delete it and what will I lose when I do?

It STILL didn't work lmfao

Actually, no. Removing Telstra Broadband Protect didn't allow me to login.

And since it was active yesterday, and didn't prevent me logging on, I fail to see how it should.

If you read the thread, you will note this is not exclusively a Telstra issue.

It is not Telstra's fault.

That's because for Telstra and some other ISPs, the DNS for cligate.101.ncplatform.net is NOT pointing to an ANET. All you are doing is passing data onto a unknown party. You shouldn't turn off safe browsing for these ISPs.

Changing your DNS in your network settings to one that works, such as googles 8.8.8.8 which has the correct IP assigned will fix the issue.

Well, if you actually read _my posts_ in the thread you'll see I didn't exclusively say it was _Telstra solely_, it was Telstra in my case. I did mention and give links to Virgin, and I never claimed that it would actually fix everything. But it worked for me and our household, and I'm trying to help.

If you feel you've got a better solution that encompasses everything, by all means please let us know as we're all trying to get back online. I don't have any problems connecting now, and having shown the steps I took to fix _my issue_ I'm happy. Just seems very odd that if you re-enable the Protect service on _my end_, it prompts _me_ with a redirect page that says, it's being blocked by Telstra's WebSafe feature for malicious content, which is in fact contained by the Broadband Protect service as I can tell.

Seeing as how several people have also tried this with some success, perhaps you should flush your DNS or try rebooting, or any number of the other solutions also posted here. Sorry it didn't work for you, but I guess that's really what you get when you're trying workarounds posted by non-affiliated person to ANet my friend. Best of luck getting back in.

I suggest you search their help articles for a more detailed explanation, as I mentioned I'm not getting paid to do this so really it's up to everyone else and taking a little initiative at this point. I suggest rebooting the router too because, you know those settings don't magically change either. There's plenty of options you can try, run through the steps and report back. There's clearly not one solution because everyone is experiencing differing problems all under the same umbrella.

I think you need to check the thread however, as a lot people are reporting this doesn't solve the issue, but that being said, for some it has. Considering that I've given my two cents and it's pretty much being butchered because people are getting their panties in a knot over not being able to connect, I'm going to let it slide and say good luck to everyone. It's not like I didn't also mention this solution in my original post either, because I definitely didn't; oh wait. I totally did.

So I read back. Everyone who set their DNS to use 8.8.8.8 that I pointed out over 10 hours ago (back on page 3) has reported successful logins. If that doesn't fix it then running the GW2.exe -diag will give information about why.

That's probably the most suitable and safest idea in your case hey, I've got dailies to fix up anyway. Best of luck with getting back into the game whenever you can, you're welcome by the way. Sorry it didn't fix everything for you. ;)

I used the Google DNS trick as posted earlier and I am now up and back on (Telstra - Central Victoria here) Many thanks to all who shared this!

Can any Tesltra users please explain what the spy program is they disabled? I think I think I missed that?

Telstra Broadband Protect https://www.telstra.com.au/broadband/extras/broadbandprotect

It's a security/antivirus thingy that comes with parental controls. Handy for people who aren't that tech savvy, but kinda useless for people who know what they're doing.

I can see a "ArenaSrv/101.80614 Instance/0.529351894" string at the bottom of the page confirming I can access the first IP address in a browser. The second will throw you a blue background with a few of MS's stock images and a Windows Server string at the top of the page. Your mileage may vary of course, let's move on.

If you have spaces in your file path, add parentheses to the beginning and end of the path or it'll chuck a hissy fit at you. Now, the command prompt should have the directory file path before you can enter anything. With me so far? Sweet, we're doing it.

(although it didn't end up being a DNS issue for me personally. This command will spit out a list of IP's you can try in the AUTH_SERVER_IP_HERE field above):

Just want to thank you for this post. Disabling Telstra's WebSafe functionality did the trick for me.

Thanks!! :)

I did a test of all Telstra primary DNS's and found that NSW, ViC, QLD and WA nslookup for me are reporting correctly. Those using TAS, ACT and SA are reporting incorrect IP.

The SA DNS is actually looks like a Malicious IP. Those using the TAS, ACT and SA DNS, disabling Websafe is very unlikely to fix the issue. Should work for the other states though.

Many thanks! Definitely not needing this running.
