counter argument

>a very powerful undead necromancer. Often, this undead will be a lich

implying not all undead necromancers are liches

https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Undead

also alot of undead mages(both risen and awakened) seem to have some mastery of necromancy but non of them are considered liches

and then there's also lich form to consider (which looks nothing like the liches we've seen in this franchise.)

To me it looks like most are undead spell casters that control large amounts of undead minions. They also cannot be killed by conventional means. But it also looks like not all liches are undead:

then what differentiates them that makes them so hard to kill from say a risen general or the kingpins from sirens landing.

i think that referce more to him still kicking about instead of being fully dead then him not being undead.

but it kinda proves my point that liches are confusing in this franchise

Yea I agree they are confusing, but I think Joko's awakened self is too similar to undead, only difference to me is they're mummified.

I'm pretty sure Liches are just what really powerful Necromancers are called who reached a "breakthrough". Like, as far as I know, Necromancers are slowly developing their skills with caution. Joko throws all this caution away to quickly gain power by taking risks. So he became immensely powerful and hence, became a Lich.

Though that leaves the question of Livia still open. She is a Necromancer who lived for... let's just say a really long time. If she lived this long while practicing her craft (which should be easier as well, since she possesses a certain artifact), she should be on the level of a Lich. But there is no one right now in-game who calls her that. But if this idea of mine is correct, then she is one.

Perhaps she's a Lich with a really good makeup artist, and embalmer.
