Metallic (and potentially other armour classes) don't show the shine ingame.

This is a strange one and I am not sure what the issue is. All of a sudden my armour doesn't have the shine on it in game, such as when wearing metallic armour. It looks fine in the preview and character select, but out in the world it looks dull. Tried all my graphics options and no luck. Repaired the client also. Any ideas?

The shininess of your armor is dependent on which skin you're wearing (some are far shinier than others, especially at higher rarities), and which dyes you're using (most common dyes have matte finish, but some are glossier). Assuming neither of those were changed, it could be related to post-processing effects or shadows settings, but someone else can comment better on that.

 

It sounds like it may be part of the environment... if you're in an area with low lighting or overcast (like Diessa Plateau), it may not be reflecting as much.
