recommended achievements quality of life update.

Recommended Posts

One thing that's bugged me for a long time about the recommended achievements is having achievements get stuck on your list for ages. Another issue is having repeatable achievements like the salvage one keep repeating on the list even after the point you receive no ap from them. Not only do some achievements get stuck on a list for months before some people complete them but they also do not apply to game modes separately. So say someone was a PvE player who dabbled just a little in WVW. Eventually, an annoying achievement will pop up and get stuck on their list until they either finish it or progress further in a new achievement. This does incentivize a variety of play but achievements like escort 100 more dolyaks tend to get stuck on those list for far too long. Id love if we could have this system overhauled so it lets you hide achievements on the list and so completed achievements would not reappear once they no longer give any ap. Perhaps even if not hiding achievements allowing different game modes to have recommended achievements separately so players don't feel like they have to go to another game mode just for a few more ap.

In the hero panel, you get the top 3 nearly completed achievements which cant be sorted. They essentiwlly “stuck” until you complete them. It is largely unobtrusive since the tracker in the overworld ui supercedes it, but it does bother some people.

Op: i do agree that infinite repeats like the salvage should just go if they reward nothing.

Ah, I see. Still, it is not something that is constantly poking you in the eye, so how does that bother you? You put the achievements you want to do into the UI tracker and simply ignore the "recommended" ones in the Hero Panel.

We have a content guide for map completion, which I think is also unneeded, but we don't have a content guide for achievements, many of which are alot more guiding to new content than map completion is. I don't see it as a bad idea, especially considering some players don't even notice achievements and players might miss some of the content because it's away from the main content.

Then again, alot of the achievements are tied to events or timed events that only happen every so often, which in my opinion could lead to a very jarring experience if you'd be directed towards them and you find out you have to wait 15 min to 2 or 3 hours if not more with certain specific events. Though I definitely think some of those achievements (like mastery points, story steps, meta achievements or specific current events) could aim players to do something in the game they don't immediately see, because they are achievements, yet are a more than minor part of the game.

I mean, I'm at nearly 33k AP and on the way more often than not it can be minor ordeal to decide what achievement or piece of content I do next.

But yeah, I wouldn't need it, but I could speculate the worth of a more extensive guiding system to some players who feel lost as what to do in the game after they did the main story some metas and map completion or lack of mastery points or whichever.
