I have 4 level 80 characters that all have access but for the life of me I can't remember how they got there. It was around the time HOT first came out and I used the boost to 80 tickets. It was a long time ago. See the vista in South Western Silverwastes? It's just opposite in the cliff wall https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/0/0f/The_Silverwastes_map.jpg

You really do need to follow the story so you can unlock the masteries. There is a cave at the far SW of Silverwastes past the yellow fort though

It's addressed in an earlier season with Canach who changes clothes and appearance from what he looked like at the beginning of LS1 to what he looked like later in the same Season when he went on a bit of a rampage. Something to do with mindset/mood/behaviour and I think is also why the Nightmare Court look the way they do

  8. We don’t know and Anet won’t reveal expac features this early. It may happen or it may not. That’s the best answer anyone can give
  9. "Play as Braham" Uh oh... that's not going to make a lot of people happy
  10. Is that Primordus? If so, what part of it are we looking at there?
  11. > @"Pacificterror.7805" said: > Glad to hear about how long that first story mission is. I'm still grinding HoT content but have been looking forward to cracking into PoF to obtain the Raptor....lol a 1 hour mission will be bleh - that's more or less my playtime for 1 session. The instance isnt that long. 30 mins give or take (think it took me 40mins first time due to using low dps build) The OP's gripe though is legitimate. The boundary zone in places is unnecessarily unforgiving

Since then, he's made a number of threads complaining about how grindy the game is, even though whatever 'not grindy' things he was praising before didn't change. And it's not just about IBS for him ... he's claiming since HOT, it's a ridiculous grind, so something isn't honest there. This thread feels that it's simply about pushing a sore point to incite people to complain about the game. We are going to make sure there is a BALANCED discussion around these kinds of threads. > > > > Sure, IBS has some MP's behind these weapon collections and other content people aren't necessarily interested it, but that's not a problem about grind. It's a problem about distribution of mastery points. The implication that GW2 is STILL just a 'side' MMO is just someone trying to take the kitten from Anet, which is absurd to begin with, like it wasn't a legit MMO to begin with. Obviously that's nonsensical. > > My gf told me I’m the “side man”, so maybe I’m projecting. ? > > On a serious note, I said HoT introduced hardcore content, such as raids. And **now** there is grind. The grind happened with The Icebrood Saga. No, grind existed from start of GW2. It has always been there and as I said earlier, it was a lot worse because the options to gain materials and items involved doing the grind other MMOs insist on players. Legendaries were a nightmare to get until we started to get champ bags, map rewards and better drop rates. There are more things to grind for and some things could use a bit of tuning down, but grind in GW2 is not new and certainly did not suddenly happen with Icebrood Saga
  13. There's an interesting video or article on how they made the mounts - prob a Guild Chat. They talk about how making the mounts seem like living creatures was a key part of the design philosophy. They more than achieved that imo
  14. Animations are generally pretty strong in GW2, but he animations on the mounts are particularly excellent and bring a lot of character to them - esp the raptor
  15. Very roughly, you get a map material reward every other event based on the cycle of materials shown. It doesn't matter what event you do -so it's impossible to ever be blocked from getting map materials
  16. Facet spawns half hour after it was killed/despawned and appears on the bounty board in the SE of the map. If it wasn't spawning and you were at that board, it's likely to have been a bug. But, you got it now so all good
  17. > @"Vayne.8563" said: > Just for the record, those legendaries you attribute to season 3 and season 4 didn't exist while season 3 and season 4 were coming out. They were added later to get people back into those zones. So your base information is off. I believe they refer to the 2nd gen weapons which released usually alongside an episode
  18. > @"Eli Fereta.5970" said: > The game is so good. but the thing i miss most about the first GW that I don't have in the second GW is my unique builds. GW2 doesn't really allow for each player to feel like there bring something different to a party or group. every staff mesmer does the same thing, every bow ranger has the same skills, every sword warrior does the same combo. I wish each weapon would at least offer a couple skills to choose from in each of the first 5 slots so I can make my character more unique than the next guy playing the same class. Also I wish there was some more accessible high end gear that doesn't take months and months to get. I wish there was a tier of gear that's in between exotic and ascended. That way people who can't spend 3 weeks straight on gw2 can still work towards something that doesn't feel out of sight. I'm dreading trying to get my ascended gear because of how much work it takes. I understand the point of view for the complaint. Just keep in mind, GW1 was hideously unbalanced and the devs didn't want that extra work of trying to balance too many skills. The current iteration of GW2 is already proving to be something they are hard up against (although not to the same extent as in GW1) Ascended armour is about 2 points more in stats than exotic and weapons/jewwellry slightly more. There is no room to put another tier in since the jump from exotic - ascended is negligible. Ascended is mandatory for higher fractals, recommended (but not required) for raids and optional for the rest of the game. If it feels like work, just don't get it. I've been here since day 1 and I think only 1 toon is fully ascended because it isn't worth it. As a long term goal I'll get more pieces for toons, but it doesn't help my gameplay in any way So the answer is - exotic is your accessible high end gear outside of fractals
  19. I despise heavy metal music quite passionately, but I enjoyed the event as well and appreciated what it set out to achieve (which it did) As long as they don't overuse it, I'd have no objection to seeing it again in a festival
  20. The griffon ones are more intense, but they are generally very short and you can restart easily and keep at it. Beetle adventures are a lot longer and can be more tedious to repeat if going for gold. I find drifting to be nigh on impossible (for me) to achieve in a race whereas I'm a bit more comfortable with griffon dives and super speeds. I do find a greater sense of accomplishment getting a gold on a griffon race though. Ultimately, I'd say the hardest beetle race is roughly on par with the hardest griffon adventure.
  21. Whilst it is only a minor QoL thing, I could appreciate any of these. Or perhaps the map you were in could have an optional icon on the main UI which you clicked to open the relevant lfg (wouldn't work for instanceed things though)
  22. Never delete a character unless you absolutely have to - even more so if it's an early character. You just lose birthday gifts
  23. > @"Joote.4081" said: > Just to be on the safe side what would a magic user benefit mostly from ? We don't really have magic users in the way other games use them so it depends on how you want o build your characters - dps, condition (dots), healing, support, bit of everything. Basically, take what you know from games like WoW and Dungeons and Dragons...and throw it all out the window
  24. Grind was far worse at launch imo. Getting a legendary was 10x more effort for starters. Imagine getting 250 of each T6 mat without map rewards, there was miniscule levels of t6 mats dropping, no champ bags etc. Ectos were rarer, mystic coins harder to get, precursors harder to get. Then when ascended was added a few months later, that was a grind to get. I think people forget how limited the game was at launch. It's just now, we have more stuff people want, but it doesn't all need to be gone for. That doesn't mean grind doesn't exist, but it's mitigated by how easily you can chip away at it over time
  25. Ah some items they made deliberately not highlighted which is a pain
