Game Crashing When Started

Hello everyone,

 

So, I have created a ticket with support over a week ago, but they don't seem to be replying to it whatsoever.

What happens basically for me is that the game simply crashes and it never starts. I tried reinstalling the game a couple of times, reinstalled graphics card drivers, but still, the same crash keeps happening.

Nevermind, I see you are running the 64-bit client, but for kicks... what happens if you run the 32bit client?

Try run a [memory test](https://www.memtest86.com/ "memory test"), perhaps your RAM is faulty.

You can use a Search Engine to look up d3d9.dll, as that is where the issue lies.

Hey guys, thanks for your suggestions.

I've run a memory test, all is fine in this matter.

I downloaded a new d3d9.dll, but I can't replace the old file in my Sys32 folder.

Any suggestions on this?

I did run DISM, as it was suggested by MS support to repair issues with DX12.

Try start Windows in Safe Mode, although I wouldn't recommend using a downloaded d3d9.dll. Instead, re-install DirectX (12 as well as 9, which is what GW2 uses).

a) Disable any application that has an overlay and try again. You have RivaTuner and Discord running.

b) Never replace the d3d9.dll that is inside your System folder. You can put a new one inside the Guild Wars 2/Bin folder and check if the problem is fixed

Closing Discord and RivaTuner worked just fine!

The weird thing is that other games run normally with these applications running, but I'll take it as case closed :)

Now activate Discord alone and then RivaTuner alone to find which one is causing the problem!

Just started happening for me as well.. been online during today, went out for an hour came back logged in.. gets to character screen and as soon I now try logging in any character a network error occurs.. my network is fine, nothing else has issues just GW2 - is it having a bad day???

Not even going to bother with a ticket, if it's going to take 20-30+ days for a response... other MMO's to play thankfully while they get themselves sorted a little better.

 

EDIT …. Not even getting into character select screen now, just GW2 has encountered an error..

This is something the whole playerbase is facing atm. The login servers just crashed or so... Its not your internet, nor do you have to make a ticket for this ;) Just waiting for some devs to put the servers back up ;)
