Redeeming GW1 codes?

So I recently picked up GW1 (Trilogy & EotN), but I'm not sure how to redeem the codes. Do I add the codes directly to my GW2 account with the 'add a code' option? Or do I need to make a GW1 account and then link them that way?

You need to create a GW1 account and add the Serial Keys there. Once you have created a separate GW1 account, you can link the two accounts in the GW2 'My Account' page.

You can add your Guild Wars 1 upgrade or expansion keys in the GW1 game:

 

1. On the Character selection screen, press the button "Edit Account".

2. Click "Manage Access Keys".

3. Click "Add Key".

4. You will be asked to confirm that you wish to add the key.

5. After entering the key correctly, the game will display a note with details of new features that have been added to the account.
