An in game DPS meter from Anet

Raids don't require you to do top DPS. There is no raid encounter with a real DPS check. You can get through every boss with each squad member dealing between 4k and 10k DPS. That's absolutely nothing. Enrage timers are so lenient that we might as well not have them. The game mode requires jack shit from you.

Of course, you will be kicked if you only deal 4k DPS on a DPS class. You are getting outdps´ed by a support role. If that's the case, people are just a burden to their group.

While the balance is not perfect, its the best we ever had. Every class has at least one build thats able to perfrom decent or better in raids.
