What happened to SoR?

Our server was T1 only three weeks ago, and now is T4, next week we will be out of T4 for sure. Does anyone know what happened to this server? And where all the guilds transfered? The only big guild left in SoR is FLUX. Also, if I want to transfer to another server, which one should I go since a lot servers are full.

SOR has a really condensed population. Last time we fought them they were near non-existent 90% of the day but as soon as NA prime hits (between 7pm and 9pm EST through until around 2am EST) they're suddenly able to Q every map and field 80 people with ease. That's what happens when you over stack a server with a bunch of guilds that all play during the same time zone. No one during the off hours to carry their PPT so they sink to the bottom. Where they should be IMO.

To answer how this could happen, you'd have to investigate where the population that pushed you to T1 came from.

They either went back since those homes are now open and more affordable or, they found a sweeter deal than your server could offer with relinks or they stopped playing in the hope of forcing a server open.

Either way, it's not a new story.

They lost link, and the guilds jumped shipped as usual because "said" guilds have no interest in fair play or evenness. If Anet was smart, they'd lock FLUX down on that server to prevent them from transferring. You know they will, and they will attempt to go to the link of one of the 3 stacked servers creating the exact same problem as before.

You have to wonder though.. when do these guild's common sense kick in that dictates they can't all stack themselves in a single time zone. They plummet in tiers due to no coverage (giving less people to fight). The people that are fighting them are still beating them quite easily.

People talk as if alliances are going to fix the coverage issue, but think about it... these guilds all 1 NA time slot stacked themselves with little to no coverage in any other time slot. They're going to have 3-4 hours night where every map is qued, the numbers should theoretically be even which means they'll get easily wiped. Then it'll be a ghost town the rest of the day. There is not a lot of coverage out there in NA beyond this time slot, and I wouldn't be surprised if SEA and oceanic guilds have already paired themselves up for the alliance.

If you want to change servers OP, go to a linked server, it's cheaper.

Hey, we didn't ask to be bandwagoned by Mal's so called alliance. Most OG KN folks are not enjoying the try-hard culture they brought with them.

I just wonder what happened to BG. They stayed on top for a long time without links anyway, now they keep coming in 2nd or 3rd. It's like they just decided they were done or guilds transferred off.

A majority of the guilds that went to SoR transferred from JQ. Server became full in almost a week after mass transfers from an already full server. With the exception of one EU guild the rest were NA. So now the server has no coverage outside of a few hours of NA. This is an issue that was created by the players. The entire plan was flawed from the start several months ago.

Server got stacked by a bunch of NA guilds from JQ. VR follows by transferring from Mag. Both Mag and JQ are now* dead servers and relegated to link status.

Server makes it to T1 by PPTing super hard, but is left without a link come relink. With the loss of coverage, said server blobs in NA and is 95% dead in any other timezone. Lack of coverage leads some PPT tryhards to panic transfer off.

Server has no link to carry and lots of the bandwagoners have already left. Remaining bandwagoners cry about server dying, leaving all the actual SoR players to wonder what's going on with their server. Latest poorly-thought-out NA bandwagon to shoot up the ranks and die fast. Server belongs in the basement, when it should have been a link in the first place.

BG stays on top because no one wants to fight the way that's required to dethrone them. On average the only one willing that's consistent is Sea of Sorrows, because they also play for the win. To beat BG, you have to play for the win and that's not possible for 90% of the servers. BG hasn't been stacked for years. They play a meta no one else is willing to play on a server level.

KN and SoR were never the same. Those thinking that are drowning in their own salt. At the heart of my alliance, is a group of guilds that have literally been playing together for ages and we've built alliances and moved to servers before. Nothing new. The JQ crew that initiated SoR, for the majority this was their first attempt. They choose SoR out of convince, because SoR was linked to Jade Quarry prior, thus they had people there after being locked for such a long time. My alliance formed from all over and didn't come from 1 server, we moved to KN preemptively knowing that we'd have to continually move. We didn't expect to create a wave great enough to stablize KN and we never sought out to play off that. We only sought out to recruit for our alliance and we thought we'd have to continually move to do it. We were proved wrong, guilds started to come to play with us and pugs alike. We didn't seek them out like SoR. SoR purposely tried to mimic what they thought we tried to do. They instead mass recruited and nearly killed off servers doing it. They never stopped all the way up till they locked. This guy Hunk comes from one of the guilds bought by the server. In fact one of the last that caused it not only to lock but also, not receive a link.

The folk on SoR should have known, and prepared accordingly especially because Jade Quarry was put through the same scenario prior, and MAG before them, and TC before that. The chain is devious and it is Arena Nets doing. Everytime they mess with thresholds, change population caps, and align worlds based off broken metrics is another harm done to any community not prepared.

The lesson here for future "alliance builders" is this - it doesn't matter how many of the "best" WvW players you bring to your group if the coverage you have sucks. Stacking NA prime (as shown by the recent SOR debacle) failed because the fight doesn't stop when NA goes to bed. Yeah, KDR is great while we're online but that doesn't win the week.

You should thank kain for bringing wvw balance and putting T4 servers in their spot, BG need to bring more action and stop preserving that KD
