Unlocking the ley-line mastery track or the mushroom was a big achievement, because it opened the door to many new spots. I had to figure out how to climb a mountain to reach a vista, and it was nice when I made it. You could kill all the legendaries in SW (now they die 4 seconds after that someone calls them in chat). It makes leveling a new character and exploring the maps much faster, but it removed all the pleasure to escort a dolyak with some new player, since everyone would just kill everything with a tail spin. So I rather use my tomes of knowledge than spending my time on the maps with a

Maybe they are still overpowered (both in damage and speed). But too many players would complain if ANET nerfed them too much. They nerfed a bit their damage on starting maps some months ago iirc. Maybe not enough. Idk :/

Yeah the gw2 demographic has changed, no doubt, that's why there's so many welcoming of mounts now, just as a large quantity of the less stereotypical playerbase, tired of the same-old, probably left after ascended gear was introduced, as many no doubt left when the wackiness of POF was introduced. as stated the game wasn't designed for mounts, they didn't exist for 5 years, and i could tolerate all this if they weren't racecars that go roughly 3-4 times faster than swiftness does. it was simply an illogical mistake to make them that fast, and anet simply wasn't thinking. The maps in WoW are anywhere from 2x or more larger than gw2 and the speed is nowhere near as fast as they are on here, and the game was designed for mounts from the get-go. Mounts on here were a short term overpowered cash grab designed to sell an expansion, as were the basically p2w PoF classes, that should have been thought through more before implemented in such an extremist fashion. I mean, if all this WoW-like stuff is going to be introduced to GW2 like mounts, raids, vertical progression, you might as well go back to GW2's roots by investing in something like BDO for example, or if GW2 is becoming WoW-like, you might as just play WoW. Honestly, i thought mmorpgs were done with this, but i suppose GW2 is hopefully the last to get the WoW clone affliction.

Lol, one person in the tread sees things from my point of view, time to go buy lottery tickets. i suppose the core playerbase has changed. Since MMORPG developers love to displace their original core playerbase so much, perhaps we should oblige them? i suppose they deserve their playerbase leaving for things like MOBAS. Heck, SMITE looks/plays more like an oldschool MMORPG like DAOC than pretty much any modern member of the "cash grab genre" AKA mmorpg genre does... and no mounts.
