How do I do a direct install of GW2 to a different drive?

Hello All:

I am having a problem that should be an easy solve but isn't for me. I want to install the game on a game drive (E) but the installer doesn't prompt for a target drive change, I tried launching the installer from the E drive after putting it there manually..but no dice. I even tried to do a regedit on the Windows 10 Program files and x86 files to direct all new app installs to the E drive (temporarily). Didn't work either.

Can someone please tell me how to do a direct install to an alternate drive? Thanks.

Why do you want to do a "direct install"?

 

Instead, create a GW2 folder on your destination drive. From your original drive, copy two files: `gw2-g4.exe` and `gw2.dat` and paste to the new folder. Run the EXE from the new folder; the game will take care of the rest.

That's what I did. Have my GW2 installation on a M.2 SATA SSD and it's great. Still need a better CPU/GPU combo for better load times, but the load times are 5x better than they were on my old mechanical.
