Why should that even matter? GW2 shouldn't be anyone's financial investment.

Fact. The game is losing money and NCSoft needs a better revenue stream. The writing is on the wall even if you're too blind to read it.

True, but the huge drop afterwards is not a good sign, it didn't create a long-lasting wave of revenue, more like a flash in the pan, and now the layoffs...

I'm fairly sure it created big enough wave, LWS4 revenue was consistently bigger than LWS3 era, up to $20M per quarter compared to $11M-$13M.

Sales should not keep you from playing the game. Honestly, I have played every night since day one and still have too much too do on my list.

In fac t GW1 is still up, so just take a deep breath and have some fun. ;)

GW1 and GW2 are entirely different beasts. They managed to engineer GW1 to be able to run basically indefinitely, but I haven't heard of any such setup for GW2. This game could well require more people, and cost more money, to keep running.

Considering NCSoft's history of killing MMOs that are profitable but not quite profitable enough, it's not outside the realm of possibility that this game's future could be in question. Considering they just dropped the main community manager that usually helps calm stuff like this down, I'd say a bit of concern on the part of players about the future of this game is quite understandable.

well, GW2 is, if I recall correctly, the third most profitable mmo for NCsoft in the west. So, in my opinion, if they decide to can GW2, then NCsoft may be on its last rites as well.
