Better Aesthetic Looking outfits?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

This is just my suggestion to having better & more practically designed outfits that don't look like they belong to a floating crystal couture runway from 1999.

We have had some great looking outfits given to us by the amazing designers but my personal favorites are the more practical ones. [The Pirate Captain outfit](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pirate_Captain%27s_Outfit "The Pirate Captain outfit") & the [Exemplar Outfit](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Exemplar_Attire_Outfit "Exemplar Outfit") & [Rox's Outfit](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rox%27s_Pathfinder_Outfit "Rox's Outfit") These are amazing examples of a simpler Aesthetic, then there are the outfits that miss the mark such as bladed feet (bandit sniper) or a giant sash that floats ("elonian" elementalist outfit)

* [The Elonian Elementalist outfit](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Elonian_Elementalist_Outfit.jpg "The Elonian Elementalist outfit"). My problem with this is quite abit was changed from the original armor from GW1 that I thought was pretty. The newer design comes off more Canthan due to the odd celestial floating sash. Take the sash away, and the outfit actually looks really nice. Or just reintroduce GW1 outfits without changing them entirely aside from model updates.

* [The Bandit Sniper](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Bandit_Sniper%27s_Outfit.jpg "The Bandit Sniper"): where it misses the mark? Why bladed beed? If it's supposed to be a stealth outfit, then why blades on the feed? They add weight & would be loud. Not to mention you'd end up slicing your ankles if you trip. It feels more like a design flaw that was added for "coolness" factor & nothing else. The rest looks great though. I get it, this is a fantasy MMO & you can't slice your feet but let's start making outfits without a silly flare ;)

Most of you may not agree & that's okay! As I stated it was just my personal suggestion.

What I'd like to see are also More Racial outfits such as the Wedding outfit. Outfits that actually change their looks based on what race is wearing them. I find it odd we don't have more of this either. I'm willing to spend 20$ dollars on an outfit that is well designed & thought out over something that looks rushed & only looks pleasing on human models.

More Gw1 Armors that aren't oddly altered or changed but just updated for GW2 (unless the change actually makes sense like clipping etc.) No more blade feet either. I'd go out of my way to actually start buying outfits again if we had gotten more Gw1 Armors to outfits from Mesmers

* [GW1 Mesmer Armors](https://guildwars.fandom.com/wiki/Mesmer_armor " GW1 Mesmer Armors")

* [GW1 Ritualists Armors](https://guildwars.fandom.com/wiki/Ritualist_armor "Ritualists")

* [GW1 Necromancer Armors](https://guildwars.fandom.com/wiki/Necromancer_armor "GW1 Necromancer Armors")

Many of these specific classes have beautiful armors, but they only fit human models, They could most likely be redesigned for Asura, Norn & Sylvari but Charr? I think YES! Charr already have some armors that aren't terribly done or oversized but actually fit their models. Stop making outfits that remove Charr Horns & you're golden!

TL;DR - Better designed outfits without unnecessary flare, More GW1 armors to outfits & more outfits that change based on the race wearing them.

What are your thoughts?

You know what? I completely agree. You're on the spot about the Armors over Outfits. Typically, I would have suggested that but I've always in the past gotten "IT'S EASIER TO DO OUTFITS, QUIT DREAMING" or something.

I agree. There is always something "off" withabout 85% of their outfits because of a weird detail that really doesn't need to be there.

Well, people like us would make it worth it for them! =) I rarely buy outfits — the elegant Exemplar’s outfit and wedding outfit (love the sylvari gown!) being exceptions — both because many of the outfits are over the top as you said, and because I like to customize my characters’ looks. :3

Fully agree with you.

GW1 really had some amazing armor design! It saddens me how much the designs have declined between the two games. I enjoyed the town clothing we had upon release of GW2, and while they have returned them in some capacity, I wish they would make more of them. I'd rather dress my characters in a realistic fashion design than something overly flashy with bits and pieces sticking out from everywhere.

Sadly this has been brought up multiple times, and nothing really has changed over the years.

THIS SO MUCH!

I don't care for outfits full of flating crystals, huge shoulderpads, skulls. spikes or too many details. I want simpler looking outfits to have. even armor is too complex (at least the new ones we've gotten in the last years) I want somethig simple, sleek, and in some cases elegant. but most of them are just way too much for me.

Good choices. I like those outfits too.

Although gaudy, one of my favorite outfits for the theme it has, is [Awakened Zealot outfit](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Awakened_Zealot_Outfit "Awakened Zealot outfit") but the stiff tassel ribbon things take away from the look.

A suggestion I made in the past is "case sensitive" hide features. Like, for your example, the Elonian Elementalist outfit (when you're selecting it in the outfits tab) could have 2 checkbox options that enables/disables the hat portion of the outfit and the other checkbox that enables/disables the sash. The Awakened Zealot outfit could have 4 checkboxes, 1 for the helmet portion, 1 for the swords (for those that want a sleeker design, although the swords/daggers are my favorite part of the outfit) and 2 that disable different ribbons (upper and lower ribbons). You can get multiple looks out of the same outfit by merely enabling different combinations of its parts.

Now imagine if they created outfits from conception with the idea that they want to have parts of it that you can turn off. You can make some pretty impressive looking outfits with some alright variety by merely creating them with essentially clipping masks that one can turn on and off.

I have always liked the armor skins of GW1, but I find it ridiculous in GW2. If your gonna have outfits for Rit & Derv's maybe bringing those classes back to the game would feel more lore friendly. Or at least give the Warrior an elite spec for Derv or Paragon, and/or bring back the Ritualist & the Dervish as a class. I really liked playing the Rit, and their armor designs were really cool looking especially w/ the body tattoos. I will say that the Ritualist Outfit in the BLT is really nice. But I find it lacking without the classes to actually go with them.

I don't really have anything to add because all this has been said by myself and others soo many times in the past, but I will add that I agree 1000000%.

There's a few good outfits:

Wedding outfit

Chef outfit

Pirate outfit

Noble count

Leather Hoodie

Ritualist outfit

Rox's outfit is good, but only on females.

Outlaw outfit

Pact Marshall outfit

Jungle Explorer

Monk outfit

But significantly less good Armours in my opinion. There's more flashy ones with silly details and maddening proportions and obstructive magical effects than nice intricate modest ones.
