Truthteller et al. : Precursor Lite?

Recommended Posts

So, to finish the new elite weapon collections -- e.g., Holosmith's Cutting Edge, you have to get a named exotic -- e.g., Libeh's Truthteller. Am I understanding correctly, that these are obtained through loot RNG? And are so rare they are going for 50+ gold?

And I thought farming Smokescales for Dark Harvest was a rotten deal.

50+ Gold really isn't very expensive for a ascendet Weapon with a unique skin. Compare that to crafting a Ascendet Weapon - which doesn't even have a decent skind :)

And you get a choice of one of those skins for free through a collection and I'm sure, given some time, the prices will drop slowly.

Anet already mentioned that they're going to increase the event rewards in PoF which will attract more players which means more stuff will drop which means prices will drop.

4. Do a very cheap collection and pick the weapon you need as a reward from the chest.

Only works for one collection, but still.

1. Won't happen for me. I'd have to spend lots of time in PoF for that, which is not very likely.

2. Won't happen if more people feel as I do.

3. Might very well be how it will turn out for many people.

Whatever you choose, specialization collections are optional, not required to play the game.

That 50g is actually 25g, in real terms, as it will be used for the Weaver's ascended sword too...same with daggers and axes.

It's really expensive if you want the shortbow/rifle/torch as they are only on 1 specialisation.

Reclaimed dagger (rare) with a guaranteed chance of a reclaimed plate peaked at ~18g. It's running at ~35-58 silver at the moment, but was at 2-3 gold just a few months ago.

In other words, it costs to be impatient. It's up to you if you're willing to pay a premium to finish collections soon, soonest, or later.

PS these things drop from unidentified gear, so you don't have to PoF at all, as you can buy the fine, masterwork, or rare varieties from the TP. There are some drop rates published for the blue unID (and evidence suggests that MF boosters also apply), so you can roll the dice rather than shelling out 50g for a guaranteed chance.

You are absolutely correct. However I don't know how your approach helps you with enjoying the game. Collection weapons are expensive because people like you want them now. Wait until they drop. Once the player swarm devours the expansion prices should drop quickly.
