I had that happen to me too as well as also not being able to queue for PvP. As a software engineer I can say you'll have a hard time finding any software that is released completely free of bugs. Some releases are buggier than others, it's the nature of the beast. Specially with something as large scale and complex as an MMO.

This seems to have mostly stopped the constant crashing last night, but we'll see if we get to play without crashing tonight.

Their public test server is the live servers, so yeah more bugs are going to sneak through in their patches, and then they use wed-fri that week to fix it.

We are their beta testers. It's been like that for years and if it's a WvW only problem the longer it takes to fix since it's a low priority gamemode.

Players as a whole are terrible testers so I wouldn’t expect a public test server to be worth the cost/resources.

 

I doubt other companies’ releases are bug free either; even those with public testing.

Their professional QA seems to let some dooseys by on occasion (like undoing the fix to revenant CoR so it would track vertically with the ground). The free testers however, noticed within minutes.

And how often do bugs slip by players?

If they slip by players they're referred to as features.
