Duoqs should gain less rating and lose more rating at loss, thoughts?

Being duos in 5v5 conquest and especially 2v2 gives you an hefty advantage. By having this advantage over the opposing team you should be punished if you lose a matchup where the other team is soloq. A duoq can customize their setup to their liking before queuing, soloqs cant do that because their teammate/s are random. Duoqs could also be on voicecom which gives them an advantage to synchronize their skill chains.

Thoughts?

Wont happen when the pvp devs only listens to the very vocal minority of streamers that wants duoq to remain. Majority of players are solo players if they split queues the teamquers or duos would cry cuz their queues would be extremely long or very unbalanced fights. Theres a reason why they removed teamq to begin with, too few people played it.

I feel that.

I think they should really consider trying it again, especially during one of these off seasons since it's a lot easier to split up 4 people into teams/solos than it is 10 people.

It's kind of messed up that the reason split queues failed to begin with is because nearly everyone would rather SoloQ. The next best solution they could think of was to put nearly everyone at a disadvantage for the sake of a few streamers/content creators.

That being said, I think the most fair way to highlight the difference is to give them their own queue where they can queue in teams 2, 3, or 5(rather than just solely all 5 people, though that would still remain an option) If nobody still wants to play the team option, rather than placing a huge disadvantage on everyone else; it should just remain a dead queue option.

To the old classic "I just want to play with friends excuse." The option would be there, and if people think the same way as you do then you would have people to queue and play with.

Then there's the "the population is too low to split" crowd. We're not talking like a 50/50 split here. That is complete wishful thinking. Most people SoloQ, that's just a fact. We're talking like a 90/10 split, maybe 80/20. SoloQ pretty much doesn't have anything taken away by a few people teaming separately. Everyone is capable of SoloQing, and since people can't be infinitely available to play Ranked GW2, it is also something everyone will probably do on occasion.

But yeah, I think the split alone would be good enough. No reason to punish the people that already do it.

Devil's advocate:

Remove solo queue.

Force everyone into dou's and make people learn the value of making friends in an MMO.

Force everyone to have a higher quality of games and overall increase the quality and skill of the playerbase at large.

This is the way WoW 2v2s 3v3s and 10v10s worked and it was ultimately better for it.

This change would have alot of knock-on positive effects for the game and for PvP especially.

(Of course this would require better ui for finding dou's partners but it wouldn't be hard.)

They've already done that and the result is most the SoloQ players just quitting, which also happens to be most of the player base.

Forcing people to socially interact instead of allowing it to happen naturally is usually where people have incredibly toxic interactions.

Personally, everyone I met and ever wanted to queue with has been through SoloQ and not through random chance map/LFG adverts.

It also adds a lot of downtime between matches, as you have to find a partner, then that partner will probably want comms so you have to add them on Skype, and then you lose the first match and that new partner suddenly has their mum calling them downstairs for grilled cheese which means repeating the entire process over again.

And the queue-times are just dreadful without SoloQ. That's why split queue's failed in the first place. People that actually team in this game would wait 10 minutes between every game to then be matched against 5 silvers all just messing around playing hammer guardian tennis. Because; again, most people SoloQ.

You can end up spending up to half an hour between games that way, which isn't worth it for a match that might feel slightly different because you have other people you can trust a teensy bit more than your average SoloQ player to carry their own weight.

A separate Ranked SoloQ arena would provide a platform to meet new people to eventually form a team with and then move into teams/Duos, while also providing closer and quicker matchmaking to the people who want that, and an Arena to play when people are short on time or when their friends are at work, school, etc.

make separete queues, one solo only and other duo only...if the duo only dont have population enough players to sustain itself and start to cannibalize their own playerbase(High mmr duo vs low mmr duo with long queues) its pretty obvious that duo queue is not popular and theres no reason to have it. If you want to play for "fun" with "friends" theres unranked for you.
