  1. Could be either hardware or software failure, in both cases, if its not critical, the computer might behave just as usual, but not let you "play" per say, or randomly.

Your saying the laptop is old so thats a possibility.

The ram could have just one chip broken, there are memtests to verify that.

The power supply could be half broken, and only under stress you would get problems, you can also verify that with some tools to stress test.

Windows itself could have some issues.

When the computer doesnt work anymore its easy to tell whats wrong with it, usually, but in many cases the broken part may not trash completly your system, so its still sort of half working, thats the harder cases.

It would be tedious to make a full list of what you can test/try, because it would be extremly long.

    > The question is what they were attempting to achieve in these meetings. If they want it to be profitable to gather and sell most cooking materials then yes there's an issue, if on the other hand they want to make sure most foods are relatively cheap to craft so most players can afford to make and use them without worrying that they're wasting gold when they do then it's a success.

Yeah but in that case, they would have make it so that the cost is fixed, in karma, or whatever else they could come up with, and not something tradable, gatherable.

It also make no sence, given, the good food is costly.

No, the problem is the huge diversity over food that shouldnt be that much diversified, for near zero benefit to players.

When I sayd there are easy ways to fix the situation, I actually meant it, you could for exemple make food effect stackable, like everything else, but thats just one idea and theres many possibilities for them to change the state of the crafting/market, but they didnt, and we are now close to 10 years since release, so it probly wont ever change.

  3. While on the principle I have no issue with the food design overall, it was mentioned that they had meetings about "economy" and ingredients, they apparently totally failed at this.

The situation right now, and since many years, is that 90%+ of the materials are worth nothing, only coppers.

So we have a huge material storage for many food ingredients, that are not worth picking up anyway.

And there was almost no efforts to fix that, sure the 500 cook update did partially solve the issue of food value, for a limited time, but its not fixing the root issue at all.

The real issue behind the worthless food is that its worthless... make food matters and bingo ppl will craft more of them, gather more materials, and make the market alive again.

Right now, been a crafter is just a waste of gold, more or less, the only thing that keep cooking revelant is the ascended food, it probably wouldnt take much efforts to make it worthy as a whole, but I dont believe thats what they want.

  4. When you have 10 you can do that

They finally did their thing, only took 2 months but they replaced the beta with my real account, meanwhile figured ive had a second beta but the rest worked just fine.

Id recommand buying when theres a promo, thats what I did.

  5. I believe the client wouldnt be able to handle a single map with the population that equal to many capped maps.

Not without a massive update on the way they display players/mounts models, but its probably not within their possibilities.

Edit: also forgot projectiles... and the skills effects... definitly sound unlikely

Also having the same ip for different maps isnt new or bad by itself, but if they increased the number of maps on a node then yes, that would explain the issues.

  6. Ive got a strong feeling that anet isnt the biggest client of amazon, im sure amazon servers deal with bigger figures than gw2 player base, and probly with decent performances.

You say anet should coordinate with amazon for better handling on limits, but shouldnt amazon just force them to do it in that case?

Wouldnt that be amazon job to tell theres something kitten on anet config?

Its been several years now they are on amazon, and everything was fine ... lets say at least before covid.

Could it be that they lowered the numbers of servers? and upped the limits (per server) that way? And in that case its just lacking capacity...?

If its a capacity issue you can try to change the config as you want it wont really help in the end, unless you disallow clients to connect (login queue...)

  7. Its been 2 months now im waiting for them to relink my gw accounts, while it is likely to be the same reason (need dev), this sound quite ridiculous.

Basicly it would mean they are able to bake a new build without been at the office, bake a new ls episode, but they cannot change account name... or link account.... without been in the office? nah that doesnt even make any logical sence.

I can understand they use that as their official answer, but its unlikely to be the reality.

Sound more logic that they dont have time to deal with it, so its left for later.

  8. This look a lot like the azerty issue, most the time if you have an azerty keyboard everything is fine, but if you use a specific key combo (shift + numbers in chat) after a random ingame time, the keyboard will sundenly switch to qwerty, theres nothing you can do to "fix" it except to restart the game.

Its not actually anet "fault" for that bug to happen, its input (windows) related, but any decent dev will totally dodge the issue by using this or that library or input method, im not aware of the exact details, I just know this is here and reported since release and was never fix, maybe its unfixable, its not solely gw2 fault but rather due to an interaction with the os, the driver or whatnut.

As for the camera, ive broken several mouse right click already, the last one didnt totally broke, as in you can still right click with it but you wont be able to hold it and rotate the camera.

If the client is on its knees (100% cpu) sometime you wont be able to properly rotate the camera, but in that case its not an issue with the right click, its just the game cant cope.

  9. Yeah, im on a different yet similar boat, its not about my display name but linking gw1 and gw2 accounts (made the mistake to link to gw2 beta account back then...)

While they confirmed me they can do it, its now been a while im waiting for it, im thinking now maybe they dont do those kind of deep changes on case by case basis but rather as a batch once every often? im not sure really its just assumptions, but its definitly not a normal operation as you would think, its not just update the database corresponding field, and theres nothing in the game to alter those things.

That or they just are not able to cope with the ammount of tickets at the moment.

  10. "most" of others mmo are worse than this on network stability, sound more like you want to bash it because your internet sucks, or you have no idea what you talk about.

in bdo if you loose any packet you get kicked from the game regardless, theres no "reconnect" or anything, just straight kick.

in gw2 the allowed time to "reconnect" is the biggest ive ever saw anywhere, its over 3 minutes...

the first tracert show 3 packet lost, its not much, but the second one show 39/50 packet lost, there could be a problem there?

last time I had severe packet lost, it was just the lan cable that was apparently faulty, just changing it was enough, not saying its forcably the same for you tho, it could be anything really.

  11. The tickets been close has nothing to do with "you" or "this" particular subject, its just how their system works.

If you just answer their last message it "update" the ticket and put it in their queue, closed tickets tho are just not in the queue anymore.

Because the answer from them is that they still investigate and blabla, basicly it mean they can do nothing for you (yet), why should the ticket be left open? that will only cluter the rest of the queue, where theres people who they can actually help right now and not related to the rollback. (turkish sms just an exemple, those guys cant even play the game at all... shouldnt they have priority over you since support cannot solve yet your issue?)

It is very likely they will make an announcement once things are solved, at that time I suppose you will just have to update your ticket... and they will do their stuff then.

  12. Yeah, I dont think it matters what you use, you can get locked out using any method, especially if you used it on more than one account, you could be locked since years and never notice it either.

Can understand your frustation, items arent always available on the store and response time is long, but the support should be able to solve your problem, it always did for me at least.

  13. If you are trying to use the same credit card (or different ones anyway) for several accounts you will run into that kind of issues, the system is terrible at this, it will flag you and lock you out of buying anything basicly, you cannot confirm that by yourself, its totally transparent for the users.

But in my experience the support should be able to fix that, if they didnt answer it might be because of recent troubles, anniversary and so on, update your ticket (dont make a duplicate) and just wait I guess, theres not really an alternative.

  14. Model quality/limit but also reflections, shadows, supersample and vertical sync are the options costing the most performances, changing these will be noticable on your fps.

They all are pushed to max if you use max preset... so you want to adjust those.

Reflections and supersample are costing lot of performances and have near no noticable effects.

  15. There is a decent ammount of infos in this thread that you dont see much elsewhere, yes it derailed into another amd vs intel topic, but its still interresting, especially on blowing up the dx9 single thread myth, just as a reminder theres a switch in command line specifically for that: -dx9single, there is also -forwardrenderer.

I understand perfectly most ppl argument on this subject, and they are right, obviously if you got 32 thread (vs 4/8) it wont increase the game performance, thats just pure logic there, but in contrast single core performance with higher clock speed will have an impact on perf.

Unfortunatly, ppl with that mind set forgot a use case scenario, multibox, I know its very marginal and maybe there isnt many ppl running 10 accounts like me (well solo raiding per say), but I would have love to see that subject debated around performances.

My main question would be, will there be a performance increase between a 12 threads (8700k) and a 32 thread (3950x) while running 10 clients.

What rig would you define as the optimum for such a scenario, would you still recommand intel over amd (and why...).

With that in mind, my performances arent as bad as you would excpect, im running a 8700k, dx9single and forwardrenderer options does increase performances for me, but what make it playable is to limit fps to 25 with the nvidia control panel (by adding 10 different exe), you might think theres ingame option to limit to 30fps, yes thats correct, but just lowering 5 fps and multiply by 10 clients, it make quite a huge difference on perfs, each clients is also forced to have one thread only (this only make a difference with dx9single, it avoid the cpu going 100% all the time), im having a rtx2070 in that rig but the load on gpu is extremly low (under 40% with all clients running) so in my case the gpu is totally irrelevant, suspecting dx9single there is also responsible for that, but in my tests ive never been able to see a difference between running single and multiple clients on the gpu, regardless of options used, does dx12 would make a difference here? im not sure really...

For those who never saw it heres a video of me doing [cairn](

) , the encoding is done by the gpu (since unlike my cpu it got lof of head room).

It is at the limit of playable in divinity reach, tequalt, aerodrome or any intensive place in the game (leaning toward unplayable sometimes), but in any instances (raid, fractal, dungeons ect...) the performances are good, solid 25fps with no input lag at all, well otherwise I wouldnt be able to record it.

So same old question in the end, more threads or more clock speed per core for this scenario?

The real advantage of amd here is you get double (or even triple) ammount of threads for relativly cheap compared to intel where you have to get a i9 minimun to see a difference with my i7 and get a dozen less threads for the same bucks. ive got 12 threads so 1 client per thread thats 10 used for gw2, the only upgrade possible is to have 2 threads per client, so you need a minimun of 20 threads to make any kind of theorical differences, for 3 threads per client you would need at least 30 threads then.

Looking forward to get corrected if im making mistakes in my assumptions, and your opinions on this subject.

    >a different twist on the original set rather than the usual new color

Im probably not alone waiting on purple color since basicly.... the begin...

So im pretty disapointed, regardless what will show up as alternative, will have to wait more years to get what I want (colors/new world)

  17. Just for the record ive did cairn 15 times this week to max my shards on alts and all under 15min without using any weapons skills, right now my "rotation" is stable and it feel like theres no way cairn can wipe me with it, last week it felt more like there was still some dmg that could kill me if I wasnt adapting to the situation, so in other words it feel like ive totally mastered the run at this point, everybody except the healer is in full berserker (exotic...) and its pretty rock solid build.

Ive started to write down the rotation to share it so ppl can study it, I do believe this way of doing cairn is actually a lot easier than the "meta" currently used, it certainly cant beat it on the dps front, but like everybody around ive saw so many groups failling because they was trow outside, float to death ect... that this strategy sound a tonne easier to learn, you basicly just need to have 4 guardians in sync for their stability, if I can do it then any group should be able as well.

Now onto sloth... ive no idea how feasible it is... its unlikely to be possible... but ill give it a try anyway

I mean I didnt even though of bringing 5 healers so I dont have that available atm but its easy to make them so why not.

Its actually not a bad idea because my first cairn kill was with 5 tanks (the 36min kill is all soldier gear), so 5 healers sounds like a similar setup.

  18. Yeah asking "why" they get a run is pretty pointless, the guilds still charge 70 mystic coins for cairn regardless .

I do share your views on the subject Ayrilana, and it was my intent to undercut guilds and get an endless pool of buyers.

Yesterday when ive put my squad for first time on lfg, ive just sayd "donations welcome" and it was very different from one guy to another.

The lowest I got was nothing and 1g, then I had one time 3g, then 10g and even finally 20g, just as a reminder the boss gives 4g on first clear of the week.

So your aproximation of 20g would stand, I wanted eventually to have different opinnions and try to make a middle ground to figure what is a fair and correct sum for this.

And yeah since I dont have to share with 6 others people its all in my pocket, one more reason to set a reasonable price, I do believe asking 100g for 10min of work is a bit exagerate, but then again its not just for one person in those cases.

While I cannot do achievements or others bosses, I can do something that guild doesnt, its shard farming, I mean im doing it for my alts already, so what I was thinking is maybe you pay higher for your first run, then it decrease if you want to stay for more shards.

So another question would be, how much would you pay to get your 11 shards in 15min?
