  2. **Ah, the love & hate relationship cycle of a game that could've been so much more...** - Free to play (Marketing), new player tries PvE (infatuation) - Player buys game based on PvE (justification, **$ profit**) - Player buys skins (passion, dedication of time, **$ profit**) - Player fiercely defends game on forums based on PvE (confirmation bias) **Then bam!** - Player tries PvP/WvW for the first time, instantly killed (confusion) - Player transfers servers to follow Zergs (**$ profit**) - Player sees hackers, reports (shocked, questions) - Player harrassed by hackers in-game (anger, injustice) - Player goes on forums (resent, lost, helpless due to $ and hours put in game) - Player sees promises for fixes/alliances (optimism, hope) **Time passes, no action taken, then bam!** - Player loses hope, goes on forums voicing out concerns (frustration) - New unexpecting PvE players (in the infatuation phase) attacks veteran player viciously on forums - fiercely defending their investment in the game (**$ profit**) **The cycle repeats...** Since we're on this topic, any comments on the below video by a dedicated GW1/GW2 content creator noting hacking in-game? He was almost banned for pointing out the critical issues, it was the veteran player community that came into his defense, the decision for the ban was later revoked, any comments/thoughts on this?

  4. > @"Arheundel.6451" said: > People asking for "balance"..should play PvP and see how fun it's the game once you start removing options.... - So, people asking for balance should quit WvW gamemode? hmm, interesting.. > @"Arheundel.6451" said: > 1) They changed siege damage so that people focus on fights ...and if you lose the tower or whatever....just go and recap it! - If one side spawn camps (50 vs 5) for 3 hours+ on a 24/7 match that resets once per week, then what happens? Go to PvP as well? (spawn area does not allow siege prints at the moment) > @"Arheundel.6451" said: > 2) WvW offers the biggest customability in the game, plenty of opportunity for you to change the way you play and plenty of guides, - Third party website to gain an upper hand, or die infinitely number of times, got it! Too bad for those PvE players trying WvW for the first time right? > @"Arheundel.6451" said: > 3) **There is no fixing population** , people will always lemming from one server to another looking to zerg their way to victory but guess what?....A small population server can still fight and win...deal with it! - 50 vs 5 at 1 corner of spawn on EBG, no siege allowed at spawn, how do you win? Please elaborate.. > @"Arheundel.6451" said: > 4) If you want the so called "balance"...go PvP... - So WvW is not balanced, solution is to quit WvW gamemode, deja vu > @"Arheundel.6451" said: > > The situation above is what happens when people keep asking for "balance" in a MMO without understanding what balance in a MMO means - PvP has a point system and timer, WvW has no timer, can you let me know which server and time zone you play WvW on? Me and a few perma-stealth buddies would love to hook up with you sometime near your spawn when zergs/blobs are away :) > @"Arheundel.6451" said: > Everything else like Alliances or whatever, won't change the current scenario much more than that. Many people like me keep logging in GW2 just because WvW is still somehow fun to play - And yet alliances was mentioned by the devs themselves in the past before the layoffs, I guess they're wrong? Which server do you play on? Would love to meet ya in person at spawn :) Got to buy them gems for real $ to support the games' new shinny weapon skins right? https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/26547/world-restructuring/p1 https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/45856/world-restructuring-update-1/p1 https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/61986/world-restructuring-update-2/p1 https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/26877/world-restructuring-faq/p1
  5. Well said above, pragmatically speaking, the **math** never lies in the end, at times **rude awakenings** are needed for any business. **GW2 WvW is missing gold standard design elements such as:** - **[GW1 skill system](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Skill)** diversity + balance - **[GW1 alliance battles](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Alliance_Battles)** design philosophy - **GW1 game design** methodology (listening to players constructively without taking it personally) - **Passion:** veteran game designers dedicated to their craft & not just for the money - **Meritocracy:** The right talents in the right places - **Financial literacy & accountability:** Utilizing the right $ resources in the right places - **GW1:** Player was king, balanced by critical design decisions - **GW2:** Money (skins) is king There is another major **'BIG'** competitor appearing in the horizon with infinite financial resources. Veteran game designers from the GW1 era are on their team, if you've ever played [GW1 Factions & Alliance Battles](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Alliance_Battles), I'm sure you'll instantly recognize similarities in their recent alpha PvP system, this spring/summer will be another one of those defining moments where **math is king!** Keep the hope alive though! Fingers-crossed! :)
