**Ah, the love & hate relationship cycle of a game that could've been so much more...**
- Free to play (Marketing), new player tries PvE (infatuation)
- Player buys game based on PvE (justification, **$ profit**)
- Player buys skins (passion, dedication of time, **$ profit**)
- Player fiercely defends game on forums based on PvE (confirmation bias)
**Then bam!**
- Player tries PvP/WvW for the first time, instantly killed (confusion)
- Player transfers servers to follow Zergs (**$ profit**)
- Player sees hackers, reports (shocked, questions)
- Player harrassed by hackers in-game (anger, injustice)
- Player goes on forums (resent, lost, helpless due to $ and hours put in game)
- Player sees promises for fixes/alliances (optimism, hope)
**Time passes, no action taken, then bam!**
- Player loses hope, goes on forums voicing out concerns (frustration)
- New unexpecting PvE players (in the infatuation phase) attacks veteran player viciously on forums
- fiercely defending their investment in the game (**$ profit**)
**The cycle repeats...**
Since we're on this topic, any comments on the below video by a dedicated GW1/GW2 content creator noting hacking in-game? He was almost banned for pointing out the critical issues, it was the veteran player community that came into his defense, the decision for the ban was later revoked, any comments/thoughts on this?
