  1. rofl: seriously, in alternative to whine like pre school kids, test your theories prior to complaining. Shroud.. those trebs in spawn for which you linked- the can be removed with a balli faster than the trebs can fire, also the balli is safe from the trebs as the min range is effected by their alleviation. Mag clouding ebg. Very very simple counter.. the two whom are opposing simply take half Mags BL each and tier them and to rub salt into the wound siege out one backline tower and the keep (EWP in each) and simply hold for tier3. As many have mentioned.. 3 exits in every spawn. No point in whinning that your getting farmed when you dont seek out the counters. In RL and as with games, there is normally a counter so all you need do is use a little IQ

  2. Same connection, same path

JQ/GOM 6,780 bytes sent (122ms to server), return traffic received 58,530 bytes (1050ms). No person within 20k units.

Now here is SoS 6,590k bytes sent (125ms to server), return 90,974k bytes (435ms). No person within 20k units.

Same rotation, same build, same npc's etc and in same order. Graphics options are all minimum. Connection speed is 245/20mbps.

EBG: mounts have decreased the time taken to reach a given unit area of population conflict and increased the amount of calculations required before return. What is alarming is the differing rtt between the servers with all things remaining equal. That should not be taking place. Further, I am assuming the server priorities have also been set to regional timeslots as I'm Aussie and my rtt during SEA is a good 50% less than if I play in a NA timeslot with the former having far more population in combat during the oversight period.

Incidentally, VPN does not change the outcome as the time taken to calculate seems to be the root cause, although I must admit the Amazon return is also disgraceful and am in full agreement with our Nation Broadband Network (NBN) techs in saying that the Amazon server priorities need a review.

Is Aussie broadband any good. Heck no.. garbage stuff in most states and that is being downright forgiving. However.. the latency problems do not stem from tcp path up, but rather, in the array and return path. Why not consider the Blizzard solution which was to place a regional server in Australia or SE Asia. Amazon has the infrastructure and servers in ie Australia, Hawaii, Singapore etc and the exchange rate would be of benefit in the cost of the service fees.

  3. It may not be your connection. You will find the same complaint by a vast majority of players now. Some pve maps are so laggy they are unplayable. It started off with only a few, and now the few has grown. My ping in DSM's shows 246-260rtt, if I immediately go to a lagg pve map (wait 15min) the ping averages 970+. If I go directly to WvW from a DSM my ping goes from av 246rtt to at a minimum 1.4-1.7k rtt and will top before a dc at around 4k av then 0. Also getting login error popups while playing. 3 days ago ago, those login errors popped (no lie) EVERY 60s like clockwork (only in wvw however)

  4. Rev: Renegade- shortbow x2

Could just be me but my line of sight (or any distance skill) is obstructed very often for absurd reasons. The occasions include such things as ambient creatures or an ever so slight bump in ground etc. Had no problem with the line of sight in DM until a few days ago.

Incidentally, my ping when first doing a x5 DM was 215rtt (WC OZ). Swap straight over to HOT maps.. a 5-6min wait on load and then a 970rtt. Back to DM-225rtt. Immediately go wvw (loads ok), then.. yah! 1340Rtt. Over past 3 days, the DM has got worse av 340 now.

Having said the above, over past couple of months my av rtt has decreased by 41.87%. HOT maps are however, for me, a waste of time. Av rtt 1100

    Just an FYI

  5. WvW: Skill Lagg, random and seriously high ping spikes (3-4k), Map chat stalls, movement freezes but game continues without lagg around toon, dc's are back- 6 dc's and relog needed with playtime averaging about 4-5min before DC and on an empty map. Character screen load time after last DC was 9min (logged in fine- character selection sucked). Au player and no- not backbone as TCP TT to Amazon 151ms. 24hrs ago- radom lagg spikes but nowhere near as bad as previously and atm

    Hope it helps

  6. 7 mths of seriously escalating lagg had me at 780-5000 ping. Got to point lagg was in dang near every map. Get on today and my ping is AU -290rtt in all maps I tested this morning and same low ping in wvw with 2 tags up and a Q on the server (full). Was 3 days away from giving gw2 away due to being unplayable. (btw now got lots of graphics tearing in Tyria and Desert). Dont you dare go backward. 7mths of garbage and now its like heaven and playable. Dont touch anything!

  7. Think yourselves lucky you even get to try. I cant even finish Jormag Rising due to Lagg and Anets insistence to polarise content around good ping for which has become such an issue, with such problems as dc's, Name Server buffering errors etc, that generally, its very much unplayable at the best of times of the past several weeks.

  8. AWS latency

    Location is: AU

    us-east-1 US East (N. Virginia) 1172ms, us-west-1 US West (N. California) 297ms, ca-central-1 Canada (Central) 339ms

    ((40 MB/sec) - (12 MB/sec * 2)) * (12 hours * 3600 seconds/hour) = 691200 megabytes

    Min 540ms, Av 670ms, Max 4209/ (0)

kinda puts paid to the "Its your isp" doesn't it Anet

  9. Again: I would not disagree, however, its easy to sit on this side of the computer and raise such a suggestion (tbh, As an Aussie, I asked our NBN admin to check out if the problem lay with the backbone or upstream suppliers to AWS server. Conclusion was the same as the game developer.. junk service by AWS). That is not to say it is the only problem affecting latency and the other problems associated with it. My opinion is the same as the OZ government that used AWS here in OZ for contact tracing-wont be using again. However, I'm under no illusion that it may be one aspect of the lagg issue but there may well be a series of other factors. Finding the problems is first point of call, but how to fix it may well be time consuming, impossible or other. My concern is getting progress reports out to the base before everyone just gives up and looks to other games- pretty much what I am about to do myself actually

  10. Your comment is a fair one Don, I also have no doubts the current latency, skill lagg, freezes, dc's, error messages etc which have been a serious problem for the EU and a significant problem for those outside the US is complicated.. BUT, now we have the same problem within the US developing at an extraordinary pace and that folks -is not a backbone problem from non US mainland. I can also fully appreciate Anet would be investigating and attempting, given the worlds present set of problems, to addressing the concerns of so many. However, this is not a new problem for the community outside of the US, it has been escalating over a very long period of time, not simply a few weeks. Anet has not addressed the problem until it started affecting a significant amount of the player base in the US and given the amount of posts on this subject over at least several months by the base, it can only mean that players do not know whats happening and that is simply about progress communication by the developer.

  11. Sad but unfortunately, you can stand in line with hundreds of other gw2 players. I was doing fine for a couple years 250-310 RTT which is about right for Western Australia. Not great but playable. Now, I start at 540ms and it will spike constantly every few minutes to 1000-5000, wash and repeat. Does not matter which maps now as its all of them. Previously it was only wvw when population capacity was reached on the playing map. WvW can be near empty but lagg/RTT remains a constant. I had an old friend whom owns a game development company in Sydney (otherside of country that gets 100ms better ping normally), he and his staff did some speed and diagnostic tests. Conclusion: "AWS garbage infrastructure, seriously old DX engine, and the list goes on . Not upstream to AWS but excessive delays in the array and on return path. Suggestion: find another game"

Btw... I seriously doubt Anet is even worried about long-term brand damage as they show no sign thus far of even addressing this problem that so many players are enduring. And I dont mean simply fixing it, Anet will not even discuss the issue in forums or any where else.

  12. The lagg issue is definitely not simply EU, its also NA. I'm Aussie, our broadband is Hampster and wheel stuff but this is not ISP or backbone to the AWS server array. No tcp loss to US server (none) and ping to server is 121ms. From entry to AWS and return leg is at times -400+% higher with drops on the first 2 return hops and intermittent black-holes all the way back to Oz. That is not the gamer Anet, nor is it the box setup, user backbone or anything else but rather- either Anet coding or garbage AWS. AWS- Our fed gov used AWS for something very recently.... Gov consensus- not to be used again as the Amazon service is deficient. Throw in login server error pop-ups or simply 5000ms DC's and one gets a game that is unplayable. Doesnt do much for brand by not telling gamers what the heck is going on.

  13. I am the first to admit the wvw lagg is seriously grrr however, this is the first time in my memory that Anet has indicated they will throw in some performance oversight. I can scream blue murder, complain bitterly that they have not done anything before this and a 21 player reduction is redundant. BUT, if Anet is willing to at least look into cause and effect then I am prepared to wait till the findings have concluded before returning to keyboard smashing, swearing at a screen and then doing the 2yr old thing, and throw a temper tantrum before walking outside and bashing head against wall. Wait to see what any fix may bring before discounting the Anet effort to at least try.

  14. Not fair. After several months of garbage ping (540ms min-4k) I get onto wvw today and its back to 210-240 RTT (AWST). It lasted 2 hrs. Not sure whether that was because two Dev's were there or not but what ever the reason... wvw started to be fun again. Went LA for break then went back to wvw and 540ms with 2k lagg spikes. I want my lower ping back! Come on Anet... if I can get 240 ping then all of a sudden its removed and replaced with 540... SOMETHING IS WRONG! fix it!

  15. ** If it was server lag, it would be EVERYONE. **

Incorrect. Server lag does not in anyway apply to everyone. It depends on a numbers of factors including the server priority settings, regional capacity settings, computation and final RTT delivery etc. Generally speaking, the lagg has been seriously bad for a significant portion of the player base since Amazon Cloud and the last balance update giving peeps more condi (Calculation time affects RTT) build options

  16. I've had a few people look at the lagg issue. The ping traces all conclude its the AWS servers. Now the root cause could be anything from Anet not purchasing sufficient capacity, to Amazon being a financial leech, seriously bad coding considerations (boon and condi stacking causing delayed calculations before RTT resumes), Regional priorities being reset to place US before other regions etc. I dont work for Amazon therefore the cause is speculative but Amazon servers it is. What is totally annoying is not so much the obscene ping experienced by a significant portion of the player base, but rather, Anet knowing there is a problem somewhere and not saying something like "listen folks, the pandemic has caused many alterations to how we can operate in this environment (working from home, server maintenance etc). We are aware of the lagg issues much of the player base is undergoing and at the first opportunity we will attempt to secure a better understanding the the problems cause, and subsequently keep you posted on the progress".... BUT NO... not one single word from Anet in respect this subject... not one word. That is simply poor management and only serves to decrease brand and increase client anger.

  17. Sorj: My residence is in Perth too. Given the extent of the lag issues and the login server popups experienced by a significant portion of those outside the US mainland. Should you visit wvw discussion you will find a seriously large number of the same complaints. I requested the NBN look into whether it was a backbone problem. The simple answer is no and further... it is the Amazon cloud bottleneck for which is causing the interrupts in RTT due to their priority settings. The server system is allegedly overwhelmed with computations on such things as boons and CC thus effecting the RTT. Outside the US mainland this becomes a significant problem. An excellent explanation can be found in wvw discussions by a knowledgeable person or be it persons. The PingPlotter will take you to the Amazon bottleneck (choke) there will be a further backholes in that array wherein you will not receive a response but will provide the end /ISP. You are looking for drops on your first few hops (means ISP or Backbone) if the drops are at the bottleneck only.. that is an Amazon/Anet problem for which only they can correct. My opinion is a mix of bottleneck congestion due to purchased capacity and Anet not factoring in the degree of time used calculate the cc and boons in their balance update (however this is an unqualified opinion). So not our garbage NBN for which we should burn at the stake

  18. Australia. Having the same problem with lag spikes 320-5k (serious on the 5k too). The same problem is being experienced by a significant amount of people in Oz as contacted our National Broadband Network (NBN) techs. The problem allegedly is at the Amazon bottleneck (not enough capacity) and the length of time the server is taking for computations before the RTT resumes. In my case: wvw is unplayable as is pvp. Normal maps either wont load past opening screen or the laf spikes simply are never ending 350-1200+ every 10-15sec

  19. Your bad luck Yasi lol... only had minor problems with lagg in open world but now the lagg is everywhere including storyline where my ping started at 970 and climbed rapidly to 3250ms rtt within about 90sec. CPU: Intel Core i9-9900, GPU: RTX 2080, RAM: 32GB DDR4 on fibre. 155ms to cloud, RTT 3250ms. Although SAB will have an effect on my rtt at this point (also factoring in world backbone usage is high), it will not be the major problem as the lagg has been escalating prior to SAB and the pandemic.

  20. In alternative to staying silent on the WvW obscene lagg Anet, how about telling us all whether you are intending to address it or not. Its UNPLAYABLE for a great percentage of people. And before coming up with; maybe its your backbone, your hardware etc.... its not. TCP to Amazon is fine but the computation of skills and the return path is simply the worst of any mmo out there... 4k. You have folks screaming about it, so tell us whether it CAN be corrected or if you even intend to address the issue. No point in hiding and too scared to inform the player base.

  21. Unplayable is not the word for wvw atm. My ping fluctuates the moment I enter now. 750av (was 320) -4270 with barley a handful of peeps on a map. That is not just garbage priority settings- thats Amazon being a useless supplier of a sub standard product. Does not happen in pve meta's for me, LA 1k max sometimes but corrects itself. And no other game I play has this problem what-so-ever. It needs to be addressed but when this subject surfaces... never an Anet employee effort to correct or address it.

  22. I fully understand technology is irregular, gaming has complications that are not simple fixes... buy seriously, WvW lagg is downright obscene and thats putting it midly. On top of that we now get crash after crash after crash. I fully admit Aussie broadband is the biggest load of garbage and there would be little to no dispute by our citizens but this lagg is not caused on our side to a large degree. The drops are coming from the first and subordinate wvw server array. I can do meta's on 5g network with 40 peeps and only get a small deficiency in rtt, pve is fine. Go to wvw and the place can be dang near deserted and Anet/Amazon lagg still hits like a train 340-4000 at the drop of a hat. Are you kidding me! The worst of this is: its not simply Australia. How about you advise us whether this problem is going to be corrected or can even be corrected.
