I'd like it better if they did, sure. Should it be that way? dunno; not sure what ANet had planned. As long as Seimur doesn't sell ingredients, I'll be cooking at the regular crafting stations anyhow.

    > I find it pretty bad that I dont see the finished cooking station on my alts even if they cant use it,

    It's weird, yeah.

  2. Last year, [the infographic](https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/celebrating-six-years-of-guild-wars-2/) released by ANet included the deadliest foe:

    * Earth Djinn: 8 player deaths for every 10 defeats

    * Bog Skale: 1 player death for every 56862 defeats.

    ****

I always like stats like that, even if they are useless generally. However, given that ANet doesn't even publish a yearly infographic, it doesn't seem likely that they will be moving in this direction for even the most-easily collated pieces of data.

  3. Historically, there have been very, very few GW1 or GW2 skins that aren't made available in multiple ways, no matter how exclusive they were to start with.

However it could be an incredibly long wait.

Personally, I'd like to see more exclusive skins, despite the fact that I'm unlikely to obtain any of them. I'm a big fan of a small number of "you had to be there."

    ****

    Past examples:

    * Exclusive, temporarily: [Dragon Emblem Outfit](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dragon_Emblem_Clothing_Outfit): initial available to those attending "meet & greet" for 2018 anniversary; subsequently added in a variety of promotions.

    * Still exclusive: [Celebration Hat](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Celebration_Hat): available to anyone who played during the game's first month; never made available since

    * No longer exclusive: all the skins from Living World/Season 1. Those were originally "you had to be there" acquisition. They've since been made available through a variety of sources.

  4. I think you've misunderstood the update.

    > Herb nodes across Tyria have had their outputs adjusted. All herb nodes will now have four possible outputs, varying by region and map level.

That means that the nodes can drop _one_ of four different materials, not that it will drop four items at once.

Plus, home instance nodes don't work the same as the ones in the wild.

  5. Different people react differently to the same circumstances. (Even twins and other siblings.) Some aren't tempted by gambling at all, some are too risk averse to try, some love the momentary thrill of anticipation.

And some people have trouble resisting, some to the point of addiction (although that's more rare than implied by some posters across the internet).

If you're in the last camp, don't try to figure it alone. Get help, whether professional, religious, familial, or from friends. _Strangers_, such as those of us posting in the forums, aren't going to be able to help. There is no amount of rational explanation that will be sufficient; it's some combination of emotional or chemical components, and you'd have to tackle those, with help.

From a strictly financial standpoint, I find myself tempted sometimes, despite my knowing (and publishing the odds). This time around, I really wanted the MountFit and had saved up a dozen BL keys. Nothing. I farmed another dozen. No luck there.

And so I was tempted to ... buy a few (not with my own money, of course; just with gold-converted-to-gems).

What stopped me is knowing two things:

    * There's no guarantee. I could be the one person who opens 300 chests without the drop I want.

    * If I was going to spend US$1-2 on a gamble, I'd much rather spend it on a SuperLotto or Powerball ticket: at least then, instead of imagining myself with a shiny GW2 skin (and not getting it), I can pretend I might become a multi-millionaire.

  6. I really have no idea if ANet is being appropriately cautious, overly worried, or just unwilling to put in the code to make it easy to distinguish. I'm just trying to point out that there are issues of which we, as players, will not be aware.

It's down to a combination of what the actual regulations are **and** how the authorities choose to interpret them **and** what risk that is perceived to present to a company without specific expertise in gambling regulations.

What does the teaser artwork distributed weeks ago have to do with Evon's latest weapon set? It's very rare that new skins have been directly related or even indirectly inspired by the Living World.

It's certainly _possible_. I just don't think it comes anywhere close to "proof" of intent.

You apparently didn't see my edit, which I made 13 minutes ago (although 2 minutes after my original post).

    > Giving them away for free shouldn't be an issue, as otherwise providing them as ingame rewards would also be an issue. Is this an error in the black lion store?

You'd have to double check the Belgian regulations. There's a good chance that giving away loot boxes still falls under their rules. In the mindset of someone who considers all gambling to be subject to government oversight, tempting people with discounts (even 100% discounts) still moves a company from "not applicable" to "applicable."

As an unrealistic example to illustrate the point: a mom & pop corner market would not be able to give customers a free 25 ml "taste" of alcohol, without a liquor license. (It's an imperfect analogy, of course.)

[sage](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sage) is not in the VIP area. He's down the road a bit, at the main cooking station, closer to Commons Waypoint.

edit: Oh, I can see the confusion. Yeah there's two NPCs named "Sage". (The wiki only documents one, which might or might not have led the devs astray on this one.)

You want the one at the crafting station accessible to everyone, not just the VIPs.

Pretty good if the mouse is failing, depending on where you move your cursor.

It's a lot more likely than presuming you've been hacked.

What have you tried to troubleshoot?

  12. > meaning: I have to do quests thats are non critical and non storyline just to earn points to get to use gliders

I confess I forgot how much that rubbed me the wrong way when HoT launched, especially since I wasn't able to play for a week or so, and ended up far, far behind my cohorts.

That said, it turns out to be easier than leveling up a new character, because it only needs to happen once per account, whereas (for example) every new ranger has to tame all their pets. It's also comparable in time to manually leveling a new character.

So while I agree that it's annoying on its face, in practice, it doesn't end up getting in your way.

That seems very likely, much more likely than someone is selecting the character for the OP. The other possibility is that there's a sticky key on the mouse or the keyboard that isn't properly disengaging.

If it's happening often, I would try leaving hands off the keyboard after pressing the login button, to see if that makes a difference. If it doesn't, try moving the cursor to the top left or right corner of the screen immediately after pressing login.

ANet does honor people who haven't directly or even indirectly affected more than a minority of players. Let's try to keep the focus on the merits of this choice; there's no need to misconstrue the suggestion or the facts.

I've said many times that I don't think that the presence or absence of any particular streamer is meaningful in the context of the game's history or future. The point is that this particular ANet partner has generated enthusiasm for a game mode, has offered assistance to people hoping to get into raiding, and has added to the popularity of GW2 generally. In particular, as the OP, I did not contribute to any of the hype about the event. (If anything, I downplayed it.)

Mighty Teapot's contributions go well beyond this event. Long before he was known for streaming, he posted "instructional" videos: for example: [Tyrian Astronomy](

) (yes, they were mostly tongue-in-cheek, although based on actual science)

Other people have been honored in the game, who have made even smaller impact, unless you happen to know the origin of these names: Borlis Pass, Ameranth, Hiralyn, Plingg. Even Dulfy was added in part as an apology for a mistake ANet made (although one hopes that they would have done so in any case) And of course, as I mentioned in the opener, Deroir: he's not hosted an event bringing in over 17k viewers and the game has an NPC named after him.

tl;dr Teapot's _contributions_ are noteworthy. Let's keep the debate to whether that notoriety is deserving of an in-game honor.

  15. tl;dr the mechanics that make things exciting for spectators aren't the same as what makes content fun for players.

"No downstate" is fun for an even smaller subset of players than CM, which is a subset of those interested in raids, which is a subset of the overall community. Those that want it can already have it, by simply typing /gg, as people did during the ERP.

"No downstate" punishes people for experimenting and it makes it harder for people to learn. It adds a minor challenge for those who are already good at the game.

It was great during the ERP because it forced a change of strat, which put raid-selling teams on an equal (awkward) footing with the teams that were less experienced with low-tooning raids. It made the contest more fun for the observers.

However, ask the participants if they'd want "no downstate" for all raids, all the time. I don't think they'd universally agree that it would make things more fun on a week-to-week basis.

I don't really oppose the idea, because there are some pros as well as cons. I just can't imagine any reason why ANet would spend the time to plan it, let alone implement.
