  1. Thanks for the warm welcome. I decided to go with main - mesmer. So now I have pretty much full equipped minstrel chrono. Only missing few +5 concentration infusions. I saw its an off support, healer? With a lot of boon strip. Any advices on how to play this class effectively in group? I guess solo is not an option here :D

Nothing stops you from following the tag even if they boot you from the squad due to classism, just make sure to play smart and not be a detriment. But DO try other classes. You may find that while you main something else outside of WvW that you enjoy another class within WvW. > > All classes can roam and cap objectives. Combine that with your MMR, and you get just-as-expected results. Would you suggest melting people to gold or even platinum tier? And then focusing on other class? I mean hell, nothing comes close to dh burn...
  6. Mesmer: Make clones and shatter for dps, be it power dmg on shatter or apply conditions on shatter. I main mesmer since 2012 and condi mirage is where I find the most fun currently. DPS is very good, but it lacks a bit on small trash mobs, medium/hard mobs to champ is where its fun, since a lot of conditions can be applied and I just repeat what is quite a simple rotation and keep evading attacks. If you master mirage you can evade most of the dmg. I would say mirage is condi oriented - axe/torch pistol. And chrono is power oriented. Chrono can also be used as a support, but imho his support role got overtaken by guardian firebrand and revenant renegade (quickness and alacrity). Continuum split and reseting everything is fun mechanic tho, altho can be hard to get perfected. Currently not very usable in pvp and wvw due to recent nerfs =/ Guardian: Burn dragon hunter melts people in pvp, I imagine in pve its the same lol. Very sought after support in fractals. Nice in wvw. Necromancer: Think of him like mage tank who applies conditions. Used to be broken, now its not as much, but still survivability is quite insane. Good for any game mode, not must have on any tho. Ranger: Can be either condi build or power build. Also can be support with druid trait line, tho meta shifted to heal firebrand imho. Decent in any game mode really, not a must anywhere, maybe raids for spotter. Elementalist: besides the engineer, most complex class, it can be the best class, or the weakest. If you are not prepared to learn his every skill in detail and learn of aoe blasting for might apply, aoe heal, aoe cleanse etc, skip it. You need to heavily invest and master it to a point where you will type on a keyboard like a friking piano. At that point your a god. Seriously, i would advise you to skip it if you are not going to learn about every little thing about it. Fyi, play since 2012, didnt yet master it and i suck. **Warrior: **Most basic class. I have the less knowledge off since I never played it because rl friend mains it. Can be used as banner slave support, quite popular. Very good as support in pvp atm. If you love general warrior class, you can go for it. But for general warrior could also apply to drahon hunter power build, or power ranger with greatsword, and even revenant. Thief: For pvp, it has similar role as mesmer. You run around and +1 fights and empty ponts. Mesmer would probably have better 1 on 1 chance, but thats not their role. In certain raids its usefull as boonstrip, for wvw i guess it could be fun to solo roam with proper build, same as mesmer, but so would be ele, or pretty much any class. Think of it as a best mobility class, and daredevil is only class with 3 dodge bars. And mirage got nerfed and only has 1, even tho whole specialization is based around dodges and evades. Retarded move in trying to balance somethng that was supposed to exceed in comparison to other classes. Engineer: I wouldnt say stay away new players. In fact, I would put him as a viable new player class if you arent looking for a one button class. It is a lot more forgiving to play engi compared to ele. I would say make it and test few skills/kits and see if you like the gameplay. Its easy class to play for real, but its just as hard to master as ele. Difference is, you wont be dead in few seconds :D Revenant: Lovechild of warrior and thief. Its quite fun in pvp and not the hardest to play there either. Highly sought after for raids and fractals. I thing wvw they are good too. His gameplay is quite different than other clases, has the smallest amount of skills to go trough, so you could get a hold of it quicker i guess. Can be powerfull as condi or power. This is my insight into classes, hopefully you find it insightful :D
  7. Yesterday I tried thief, and maan I loved all the mobility, got kinda carried away with +1 and didnt always run for capping far :D Then I tried guardian. Holy Fook! Don't forget /optional/ Mirrors that can be spawned alongside 3 extra seconds of invulnerability that will easily break any sustain uptime from all utility people can toss (outside of stealth spam), not forgetting Jaunt and Blinds. > > Definitely not above Mirage, of course you can still connect everything else again under the latter as CD's go down but you see, this is all part of Mirage gameplay whether you play offensively or defensively, Weaver or Daredevil don't get all of this while being able to dodge "anytime", maybe just Primordial Stance or Steal at best. > > Have me go GS/Sword+Torch and abuse that overpowered design instead then complain balance nerfs to my profession because I can't be super powerful and untouchable at the same time. > > Implying that this was okay also implies that Revenant was fine with a stunbreak every 10 seconds that could follow with evade spam or that Spellbreaker evade spam was also okay. They weren't at all and funnily enough did not match Mirage superior Cloak uptime. > > Weaver actually sits barely above the food chain in terms of evade now and that's the only viable part of Elementalist, core is extremely weak with all the high cooldowns as Weaver get the best utility and Tempest is either a easy glassy kill or a aurabot. Should you know who really has it worst right now, definitely not Mesmer or Mirage even at one dodge. You seem to have something against mesmer or specifically mirage :D Only mesmers I see here and there are power shatter builds so far. And if cought out of breath its deadly indeed...

I would not recommend a class that is overly restrictive (Mirage, Revenant) but rather one with plenty of resources and tools that haven't really been nerfed much. I'd look into Holosmith. Interesting view, will give it a try :)

  16. > @"Kuma.1503" said: > Some classes have lower skill floors than others, but every class, even the ones considered easy by the community will have a decent skill cap attached. If you're looking for classes that will take the most time to master, you've got some options depending on which playstyle you prefer. > > Combo field play/ High APM / Playing "Piano" with your Keyboard > > - Elementalist > - Engineer > > These are my personal favorite two classes. If you like high APM, blasting combofields, and always having a ton of buttons to press, these are the classes for you. The skill cap in both comes in learning to manage your huge reservoir of skills and pick out the best one(s) for each situation. To balance out their massive kits, It may take them 3+ actions to accomplish what other classes can with a single button press, but that's part of the fun. There's just something satisfying about weaving through attunements to blast your water fields 4 times in quick succession as an elementalist, or comboing smoke bomb into acid bomb and then landing a surprise holographic shockwave from stealth (Yes I run bomb kit in pvp. It's a blast. Literally) > > High Mobility/ Burst / Outplay potential > > - Mesmer > - Thief > - Revenant > > Thief has the lowest skill floor out of all of these, but some argue it has the highest skill cap. It's a class that mainly gets to shine in PvP, but it's fun mastering their skill combos and all their tips and tricks. If you like being the solo carry, this is the class for you. > > Mesmer is what you get if you cross a thief with a mage and sprinked some illusion magic on top. It's got both a high skill ceiling and a high skill cap. This is partially because they're in a rough spot right now, and partially because there's a deceptive amount of depth to each of their skills. You will need to take some time to learn them before you start to do well. The benefit is that it's a very fun and rewarding class once you get good at it. > > Revenant is the edgy love child of warrior and thief. It's a bit slower and a bit more telegraphed than thief, but it makes up for it with higher damage and higher sustain. Alac renegade is arguably the hardest build to master in PvE, and Power Herald is one of the harder classes to play in PvP. Rev has a med-high skill floor (depending how long it takes you to learn their energy system) and a med-high skill cap. It's also a rewarding class to main currently. It's top tier in both PvE and PvP, and has been for some time. > > Finally if you're looking for a support that will take you some time to master, you can't get any better than.. > > **Firebrand.** > > Where elementalists have attunements, and engineers have kits, Firebrand has tomes. These have significantly higher cooldowns in exchange for higher impact. You will need to learn how to use these at the right time on top of your usual weapon skills in order to succeed. Guardian as a whole is a versatile class that will serve you well in **any game mode** if you choose to main it. > > > > I'm very intrigued by ele, but never really invested into one. If you are speed running your dailies, then sure it'll help, but no it isn't needed and you can get a run down in a timely manner with alacrity or banners. I just made HFB with help of snowcrows site and I think my quickness is pretty much permanent, outside of content where we cannot stack really. Couldn't my staff and an ele for example keep 25 stacks? Also how much does spotter contributes? What does fwiw mean? In my experience, a healer or some sort of support is kinda needed or people tend to die a lot. I'm playing with only 1 RL friend and we need to pug 3 people. He is BS main and working on alacrity rev atm. And I'm condi mirage main and just made hfb. What should we play and pug to make it easiest and most effortless?

Archery has always been my draw, right behind healing You should have make Ranger, it's the best longbow class with good dps. probably not the best dps option but for sure viable. Then you could unlock Druid traitline and with proper setup, you can be one of the best ingame healers with some support. I suggest you make 2 build templates, one for dps with longbow and another with full healer and support. Guardian is a better healer/support and DPS too probably. But Soulbeast Ranger is part of meta as well - with longbow!
  25. On one hand I miss simple maps from early game, which were amazing without mounts and gliding. Then there are HOT maps who I hated a bit on release because they were hard to navigate, but in the end provided the best possible exploration for single player and multiplayer alike. POF maps were amazing initially with all the sand, desert and pyramids, but then it all got progressively bland and uninterresting, so I would be fine with having a lot less POF style maps and a lot more HOT style maps. Everybody like to explore jungle :) Also the new Icebrood saga maps are the worst, kinda like WvW maps but with no pvp and toooo efing much stuff to do. Its insanely packed with stuff to do that it makes it unfun and cluttered. I can see how this was a test and I would advise to stay the hell away from it. I mean even logically looking at it, every new style of map I get less and less fps. From 60 FPS in vanilla maps, to 30+ FPS in HOT and POF, to now 15+ in that new WvW style map. I prefer simplicity with enough good content, not fkton of content so that it overwhelms everyone who first steps in it and it isnt even visually that appealing. Just my opinion tho. Wish game got better multi core support so fps wouldnt be that much of an issue.
