  1. I mean PoF made new faces and hairstyles for humans so there is no reason to assume they wouldnt do the same for humans in EoD
  2. CYNN’S OUTFIT!!!! We got one for Mhenlo, Eve and Gwen outfits on the gem store. Why can’t our favorite pyromaniac get one?

True, but more varieties of those daggers would be appreciated.

I wouldn't say that the players have lost faith; more like "very disappointed in the Icebrood Saga and its execution," IF they need more time then I expect the expansion to have some new combat features, like land-based spears or event mechanics, to make things more interesting or even something that players have been BEGGING for since the first expansion, like Tengu as a playable race.

Sorry forgot to add one: Ranger elite spec to have "minion master" rangers where we can roam with more than one pet at a time and/or summon additional pets in utility.
  7. 1) Cantha to have interesting lore to fill the gaps between its isolationism and present day. 2) playable tengu 3) an engine upgrade 4) for currency exchanges to be updated and to include raid currencies.

Alliances for the original gw were introduced in Factions, which also introduced Cantha. lets wait and see if we both get our wishes :)
  9. Personally, I feel like engi should get maces and have dual skills depending on mainhand and offhand and be a more versatile elite spec. It just feels a bit more natural given the tinkering. That being said, ranged engi would be fun. YESSSS!!!!! I would love to have a minion master Ranger. I am torn between choosing different pets for builds all the time and would love to have them all out at once. I like the idea of control/support but scepter/focus doesnt resonate with me personally. I feel like a shield would be nice for the ranger though as it makes them a bit more defensive while the pets do more of the fighting. Not sure if i follow you with Elementalists, but I think a lot of elementalists want ranged dps as a weapon so longbow/shortbow might work. I am totally behind the fifth element idea which could be arcane though. I also made a bit of a discussion topic about this spec, if you all are interested in seeing my elite speculations :)

I see your point but at the same time the dev team can alter the voice of an already existing VA to sound different for tengu so they can play through past stories and that would bypass a very large problem of having tengu play through past content. However, they did get a new VA for male charr a while back and he not only had to reread old lines but also had to do new lines as well. I see how you think this can be a big hurdle, just pointing out how Anet (who has been rather creative at solving problems like this) can bypass that issue. Alternatively they can go the "non-lore breaking" route and have tenug join in EoD and bypass that problem entirely.

They had no hometown, starting areas, racial quests and cultural armor done, for example. No voice lines either. Does that point to them being "cut out at last minute"? That would have to be a veeery long last minute then. > > > > > > > > > > They could still augment current VA's or even have recurring VA's (Like Liam O'Brian for instance who comes by somewhat frequently at Anet to do voice recordings for toons) voice tengu lines and have them do their own campaign that ties directly into the End of Dragons. With the manpower they have now, a new map, city, etc. is plausible. > It still has nothing to do with the claim that Tengu were "cut out at last minute" and thus were nearly complete, needing only small finishing touches. No, they weren't. And it's not about them having or not the manpower (although i would say that this is probably one of the _worst_ moments to free some devs on such project, as they seem to be already extremely strapped for resources). It's about the size of what is missing. You are talking about at least a whole LS-chapter size (or two) of work here. And i mean a full chapter, not one like the last. I'm sorry I am having a tough time following you on this one. Are you saying that because they already are working on the expansion, they wont have the time to work on a new race? Because I imagine they are doing something big if the last episode of Icebrood Saga is mostly (if not entirely) taking place in older maps.
  13. > @"AshkyLicious.4729" said: > Well one way they could implement Tengu in the game is that their story starts off from when the new expansion (EoD) begins. And to be able to play as a Tengu, for example you have to have completed the core story with atleast one core race toon, otherwise the Tengu will be locked until you've done that. This way of implementing Tengu in the game makes sense to me, and I've seen other MMOs doing this exact same thing with new races before. > > Maybe they cant become a commander like our other toons, instead they have their own reasons that they are fighting for and their own rankings equivalent to being a commander. As the story proceeds in the expansion they start to cooperate with the other races and their story naturally entwine with the others story. > > And when you're doing the content in core Tyria with your Tengu, you will not be able to do the core story since it already "happened" with your other toon, so it will be more about exploring and doing the other contents that exists in core tyria. > > Now the tricky part is when it comes to HoT and PoF story and implementing Tengu in it. Maybe you guys have some good ideas to fill in there? :) > > Edit: > > This crossed my mind, but one way they could deal with Tengu going to old zones (core, HoT, PoF) could be as I said before, they cant do the stories anymore since they already happened before EoD started. Instead, the Tengus has started to explore Tyria by themselves and there is Tengu NPCs popping up allover Tyria, HoT and PoF. They can create new events and side stories that are connected to the new Tengu NPCs in those zones that are meant to be for the Tengu players, but that other races can do aswell. This is a good incentive for people to go back to old zones which will benefit the new players aswell(specially the new players from steam). > > Just a thought :) THIS!!!! This bypasses half of the problems of making a new playable race entirely!!!!! Thank You!!!! And given the writing/creative team behind Anet, I am confident they can come up with something good!

There is also the rumor that Tengu WERE planned for the initial base game release but were cut out at the last minute. This is news from 2012 when the game was still in beta and you could only play as humans and Norn, of course; but the theoried reason as to why the Tengu were excluded, along with the Canthan district of Divinity's Reach (of which there did exist real footage of) was because ... well, it was a politics in videogames issue involving China. I know no one wants to hear that, but according to the news at that time, they did not want GW2 using their cultural aesthetic. > Actually, while you are right that there was such a rumour (in fact more than a rumour, we've even had some dev statements to that end), the reason why Tengu were cancelled had nothing to do with removal of Canthan district. The district was indeed removed due to out-of-game political reasons, but Tengu were not included simply because they were not finished - the work on them was dropped earlier, when the devs decided that having them ready on release date required more resources and effort than they could spend on them. Basically, when the game launched, they were in only half-finished state, and since that time the amount of work needed to introduce them into the game has only increased. > > That might not necessarily be the case. I think it is plausible we are getting Tengu because not only are Quetzal and DoW tengu working side by side (as shown in the champions trailer, showing not only are the DoW tengu leaving their walled cities, but also allying with tengu from outside the city limits which was implausible in Vanilla.) but also in the Jormag rising trailer, Bangar is shown with an abnormally upright posture for a charr. His chest is also more puffed out, his shoulders seemed to be slightly pushed back and his neck seemed less slouched/hunched as well. I think devs might try and repurpose Charr animations and rigging so it makes implementing old and new armor sets on tengu much more easily than simply starting over from scratch. I also have been doing some 3-D Modeling in my spare time and I can say it is very plausible to not only alter an existing toon's mesh to make a new race (i mean look at the norn, sylvari and humans they are practically the same minus a few subtle details). but animating animations for such a model would also become easier. Not saying its a done deal and they will be added, because you still require lots of manpower to make it happen. That being said, it would not as much as you would think and with the rehires from post merger with NCSoft, having tengu as a playable race does fit reasonably in the realm of possibility!
