  3. I got curious about what kind of information we had handy that might answer this question, so I turned to Linsey Murdock, one of our lead designers and the person who worked on food and recipes for GW2 launch back in 2012. She checked out this thread, was excited to share some of the basics with you, and passed this on to me for you all.

    From Linsey:

Ok so, I personally designed all the food recipes for launch and there are a few principals that I went by and a process I used to do so, some of which has carried forward through all of the development on cooking since launch.

    RULE NUMBER ONE

We do NOT eat the sentient creatures of Tyria. There is no charr steak, no grawl chops, hylek legs, centaur loins, harpy wings, tengu drumsticks, or quaggan blubber in any cooking recipes. There might be something named for a creature like Ettin Stew, but it is not MADE out of Ettins. Now, a discerning person might say excuse me, what about choya spines? Well, that is a story. Choya were originally NOT a sentient creature and the rewards team planned to have them pretty heavily in cooking recipes for Path of Fire. Cactus is good eats. BUT THEN, we found out that the choya had VILLAGES and DANCED in circles. To me, that indicated a society and took them out of the running for food. However, it had already been built and accounted for in the economy balance and we didn’t have time to redo all that work. So we renamed everything to use “Choya Spines” which are the needles they shed. We decided this would be OK because we decided that harvesting those spines would not harm the choya. It’s like fingernails. They regrow. A little flimsy, but it let us sleep at night.

    RULE NUMBER TWO

No gross food. No Monster Mystery Meat Stew. Ideally, it should all be REAL recipes distilled down to their simplified Tyrian analog. We have had some exceptions to this rule sneak past me. I am but one woman. I was not able to stem the tide of candy corn brittle.

    RULE NUMBER THREE

Avoid single use base ingredients as much as possible. I really tried to make sure that if I was going to include a particular vegetable or herb or what have you, that it would be used in multiple recipes.

    RULE NUMBER FOUR

Avoid made up ingredients. I made a fundamental decision to use real world vegetables, fruits, and herbs without renaming them into Tyrian versions. I did this because I wanted to take advantage of players real world knowledge of food to help train them on how to make food in GW2. Again, a few exceptions snuck past me like Winterberries, and one exception I personally made affordance for, which is Omnomberries… because it amused me. Fun fact, the icon for Omnomberries looks like a Mangosteen, which is a tropical fruit I got to try on a trip to Hawaii once!

Them's the rules. Now the process.

Every single recipe in the launch game is based on a REAL recipe. You can make this stuff at home.* Again, I wanted to let players rely on real world cooking knowledge to help them discover food recipes. Admittedly, the launch game cooking recipes are largely to my personal taste. There are lots of recipes in there that are my personal favorites, friends/family favorites, or classic western favorites. There is even more than one family recipe in there. I also wanted there to be a lot of simple obvious recipes. Like, meat and bread should make a burger. Add cheese and you have a cheese burger. For the less obvious recipes, I used the same kind of process that I use when I want to cook a recipe I have never made before. I search the internet for at least a dozen versions of the recipe I have in mind and look for the elements that seem to be the common core elements of the recipe. If one home cook likes to put some kind of weird, out of left field ingredient in a pretty normal recipe which makes their version unique, I did not include such things. If ten out of twelve recipes use lemon juice, but one uses vinegar, and one is all about lime, I’m using lemon juice. Common denominators here, people.

So that is mostly it. There were some other bits of madness, like how certain types of buffs were related to certain types of food. Like pies are healing, spicy things relate to conditions, and magic find is found on other sweets. This is less important to the question and more important, is not a rule because once a pile of other designers that weren’t me started making recipes, my madness fell apart and there aren’t as clear delineations of what buffs go on which types of foods.

_*Note from F.A.: Linsey is correct! A lot of GW2 players have done exactly this. 5. # 02/02/2021—February 2 Release Notes

    ## **Lunar New Year**

As another new year dawns on Tyria, join the festivities in Divinity's Reach! The Year of the Ox is upon us, and the Lunar New Year Festival returns with new rewards and refreshed activities. Collect and open lucky envelopes to earn essences of luck, delicious foods, fireworks, valuable items, and a chance to find the new Lucky Ox Lantern backpacks!

    - The Lunar New Year annual meta-achievement, Lunar New Year Customs, has been updated with a new reward, the Lunar-Enchanted Gloves! Using a crafted glove set as a base, these gloves have a new shining effect to match your festival weapons. Last year's meta-achievement reward, the Fireworks Spaulders, can now be purchased from the Lunar New Year rewards vendors.

    - A new weapon-set upgrade is now available! If you have added Shining Aureate weapons to your wardrobe by completing Lunar New Year daily achievements, speak with the festival rewards vendors in Divinity's Reach to trade your hard-earned Essence of Luck for the luck-infused Fortune-Shining Aureate set. Or if you preferred a more subtle change to your arsenal, you can also now purchase the effect-free Refitted Aureate set from the same vendor.

    - The Celestial Challenge activity has been overhauled with updated goals and simplified reward mechanics. Compete in a variety of events to earn Lucky Aura, and use it to open extra treasure chests once the Celestials bestow their gifts!

    - Many of the events have been updated and rebalanced, including new special action skills for events that previously lacked one.

    - The Lucky Aura effect now allows players to open extra chests during the reward event, rather than improving drop rate of items from the main reward chest.

    - The player with the highest contribution to each event will be awarded with an extra Lucky Aura effect.

    - The drop chance of Tokens of the Celestial Champion has been reworked to be a guaranteed drop of Tokens of the Celestial Champion Fragments, which can be exchanged for complete tokens. There is a random chance to get additional Fragments that is not affected by Lucky Aura.

    - Enemy mobs no longer provide event participation in events that have objectives other than killing enemies.

    - A new achievement has been added for participating in each event of the Celestial Challenge.

    - A new group of rotating daily achievements has been added to complete events in the game's low-level maps. Visit the place you came from to ring in the new year!

    - Lucky Envelope rewards have been updated with new items for the Year of the Ox, including a new backpack to celebrate the Year of the Ox in style.

    - Finding you have more good fortune than you know what to do with? Lunar New Year vendors now offer Lucky Red Bags in exchange for your unwanted Essences of Luck.

    - A new guild decoration has been added to commemorate the Year of the Ox.

    - Festival merchants have been moved across the street to allow enough space for their increased numbers.

    - A number of festival-related bugs have been fixed to ensure a happy holiday for all heroes.

Lunar New Year will be active until February 23 at noon Pacific Time (UTC-8). See you in Divinity's Reach!

    ## Living World

    - Fixed a bug that caused the Owl Spirit statue in the Snowden Drifts Dragon Response Mission to have an offset nameplate and not disappear when the mission ended.

    - Fixed a bug that prevented enemy kill markers from properly disappearing in the Thunderhead Peaks Dragon Response Mission and Lake Doric Dragon Response Mission.

    - Fixed a bug that caused the champion boss of the Snowden Drifts Dragon Response Mission to be interrupted but not stunned when its defiance bar was depleted.

    - Increased Myrun's speed in progressing to the champion boss of the Thunderhead Peaks Dragon Response mission after the destroyer enemies are defeated in the second event.

    - Fixed a bug that could cause dialogue lines to be repeated or not appear during the champion boss of the Lake Doric Dragon Response Mission.

    - Corrected the achievement name Rising Flames to refer to the actual story chapter, Roaring Flames.

    - Fixed a bug that caused Destroyer Fissures to spawn on top of each other in the champion boss fight of the Thunderhead Peaks Dragon Response Mission.

    - Updated the Challenge Mode variant of the Incinerating Shock Wave skill used by the champion boss in the Fields of Ruin Dragon Response Mission. The telegraph for this skill should now match the radius of the initial impact. Additionally, the persistent fire-field effect is now enveloped by a red ring to denote the size of the damage radius. This skill has been updated such that the initial impact will deal significantly more damage. Don't stand in the fire!

What hairstyle/color is it? Do you happen to have a screenshot?

No need to wait, we figured it out. Your character's mustache was already dark brown or black, right? The mustache is being changed by the infusion, it's just that the infusion happens to interact with _that_ particular mustache in _that_ particular color in a way that the changes aren't very noticeable. The dev who was looking into the issue shared a few screenshots with me to help illustrate and I've included them below. No hair changes were made between images:
