I'm not sure if that number includes all time-zones.

However, after a server meeting it's around 15-40 people per guild active in WvW even if several guilds are nearly 500 (in the 490s).

  2. Axe seems to be a hybrid weapon : if you run Viper's you get a much better result than condi alone.

I feel **Unrelenting criticism** maybe should be reworked. 3 seconds of **33% chance on hit** bleeding is not worth taking over Archivist of Whispers , IMO.

  3. They could switch one alpine borderland out for a bigger copy that's smaller than desert BL.

    Could be :

alpine = green BL --- smallest

new BL = blue BL --- medium size , same general layout as alpine but with bigger keeps / towers (perhaps having inner wall of keep the same size as alpine keeps but outer walls larger , such that trebbing from towers is possible)

** make more use of elevation , for example inner wall could have sections that cannot be hit with meteor shower outside that act solely as lookout points for defending team as well as a drop off point to glide from

desert BL = red BL ---- largest

Changing EBG is an exercise in futility.

Desert BL has been greatly improved from its initial iteration.

If they do release a new map it needs to be thoroughly playtested before putting it into service. The lagfest that Desert BL was did not make an enjoyable experience.

  4. Don't stand in the bubble.

Most run a load of scourges. Barriers aren't boons. Condis such as weakness , slow, blind make it harder to hit.

Have tempests run auras + Elemental Bastion. Overloads double as a stunbreak.

Have chronos run distortion + Blurred inscriptions , along with the Inspiration traitline. Most chronos run Gravity Well.

Have guardians run mace + shield for block / heals.

Have some revenants run tablet for burst heal , Rite of the great Dwarf . Have Renegades use Soulcleave's summit.

Holosmith Spectrum shield is too short a duration, but it would also mitigate damage.

    ---------

P.S. most Necros run Soul Marks which makes marks unblockable.

  5. Give rifle/pistol mainhand heat interaction. I believe allowing rifle to burn on Overcharged shot or Blunderbuss blast when over a certain heat level maybe would be a start.

Rifle net shot: 130 radius , up to 3 targets?

Kits: Flamethrower ought to have heat interaction. Maybe added 200 to 300 range depending on heat level?

Flamethrower: add blast on Air blast...

Lower the overheat damage. Something like a 1 second daze would be enough of a penalty given you are locked out of Photon Forge...

Maybe make AED prevent overheat damage.

Flash Spark --- add Reveal ?

Photon Wall : outside of WvW it likely has low usage, so please consider decreasing recharge.

  6. With all the condis and boon corrupt everywhere, you're much better off playing tempest with auras and running minimal boons.

**Unravel Hexes** was highly recommended if you run any weaver , but was replaced on launch by **Woven Stride** (regen on condi means more boons to be corrupted). In this case , the barrier from _Invigorating strikes_ is probably a better idea.

**Twist of fate** has too long of an overall cooldown and so does **Stone resonance**. Compare them to "Eye of the Storm" & "Aftershock". Aftershock is definitely better than a _temporary_ barrier , the reflect is a good damage mitigation , on top of CC, & blast finisher.

Barriers could have been much stronger on Weaver compared to Scourge. Master's Fortitude isn't enough to run sword , IMO.

  7. The CPU matters more than the GPUs you run , especially if you don't lower model limit. The game is largely held back by one main thread. There is only so much that can be parallelized , see Amdahl's law.

In its current state, only Sandy Bridge (2nd gen) i7s, ideally 4th gen or newer with high overclocks (4.5GHz+) will be able to push the newest GPUs.

The only AMD CPU worth buying for this is the Ryzen 5 1600X , preferably clocked to 4.1GHz. It will still lag behind the i7s.

  8. I didn't get to read through all these posts in the thread but my first impression is similar to that of the first few pages: there's too much wasted space.

    1. Usernames and avatars could be smaller : Gaile's is different but everyone else's avatar is pretty useless. Post delineation could be increased via borders or a box.

    2. Thumbs up/down/helpful/report could be smaller

    3. The forums themselves could have smaller thread titles , also having avatars on the forums next to the thread titles is a waste of bandwidth.

  9. Scourge necro (PoF) - barrier , boon corrupt

Spellbreaker warrior (PoF) - boon strip / CC

    -------------

    core guardian - mace+shield blocks , Save Yourselves/Purging Flames

Tempest ele (HoT) - auras are not boons , overloads double as stun break ... I just don't see weaver being a staple unless its barriers or dual attacks are massively buffed

Herald rev (HoT) / normal rev - resistance / cleansing / AoE stunbreak (Herald) ... Renegade may work for condi spec

Scrapper engi (HoT) - less reliant on boons due to bunker down

Chrono mesmer (HoT) - alacrity is not a boon , gravity well , veil/null fields

Daredevil (HoT) - gank party / pick team ... deadeye perhaps could work but is niche

    Druid (HoT) - healer, maybe

Holosmith(Engi PoF), Firebrand (Guardian PoF) are iffy if you take the new weapons.

Weaver (Ele PoF), Deadeye (Thief PoF), Mirage (Mesmer PoF) all have their issues

Not sure on Soulbeast (there's so many pets), the utilities aren't spectacular though maybe **Leader of the Pack** stance share (for Dolyak stance , Bear stance, One wolf pack) could be a thing

  10. (Because of 15 min rule... mods please merge consecutive post)

    For organized group , theorycraft

Curses (+20% bleeds), soul reaping, scourge

    1800 scepter auto :) (Dire+trailblazer)

(Trailblazer... for people with lots of gold to make trailblazer armor...)

I'm unsure Parasitic Contagion will be useful with a decent group, whereas Lingering Curse is insanity (+50% condition duration on scepter) regardless of squad comp. Serpent Siphon will likely be better than Sand Swell.

    Un-optimized gear, Barrier focused:

Scourge,Curses , Blood Magic (for healing power)

    http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vRAQNAW7fnE9C12gl9C20As9ilgBT/uuXHsRDgAQEYKqtDGCA-jFTAQBhU5wNVCKtLAgzUilGlEnSdFAcEAUwDAQg7PEtDCQA1N0JVKIFQR60A-w

I played with the build editor and it seems maxed healing power gear isn't worthwhile. Even going all out with just under 1200 healing power, barrier on F5 goes from 5K to 6K, F3 goes from 2K to 3K, the heal goes from 4K to 6K.

Given Nefarious Favor (F1) is on 5 cooldown, I don't feel dropping Fell Beacon for removing 1 condition via Abrasive grit is worthwhile unless your party lacks condi removal completely.

    >

    > Please remind me, but wasn't that the same case with Scrapper not long ago?

Function Gyros are strong because they don't require a skill slot and allow you to avoid standing there ressing or finishing an opponent. **Perfectly Weighted** & (optional) **Final Salvo** give you more stability than a holosmith would get. **Rapid regeneration** doubles down healing with any superspeed (it was nerfed). **Impact Savant** reduces the need for stunbreak if you run Saffron Bread and/or Melandru runes (for WvW). **Adaptive Armor** still works.

**Spectrum Shield** & **Photon Wall** look appealing but the core skills need to be more competitive for Holosmith to be truly viable. For Holosmith to see use in WvW, the core traitlines and weapons need to be looked at. Photon Forge and the heat idea is nice in theory, but as an engineer main described it to me: it's like initiative (thief) or energy (rev) but the fact that it heavily damages you when you overheat is underwhelming. Locking you out of Photon Forge is enough of a penalty already because rifle is not great (why isn't the immob a small 130 cleave range AoE around the target? it does zero damage as it is), sword requires you to melee and has no defensive skills unlike hammer, and pistol is also underwhelming. In fact, **Tool Kit** is more defensive than sword +shield , although the toolbelt kill is relatively yawn worthy.

Also Photon Forge makes the Elite skill weaker most of the time since you lose the Elite's toolbelt skill. (i.e. you lose moa on Elixir X, Mortar loses the blast finisher) ; Laser's edge minor trait compounds the problem of losing most damage once Photon Forge is inactive.

The concentration (20% boon duration) in alchemy traitline isn't as strong if you aren't running Durability runes on a scrapper (as far as WvW). I'm not quite sure a holosmith can hang around in melee range as often as a scrapper.

Scrapper was mostly nerfed due to PvP. Original Bunker down , triple leap, stealth gyro, + the original rapid regen meant they were highly defensive while doing damage.

To be honest, I couldn't play engineer in WvW til Scrapper came about because without throwing grenades (which is bad for your hand due to the targeting of auto-attack...) there wasn't much that really set it apart and _retaliation destroys you when you run grenades_. Flamethrower (which requires some condi stats to be good) , Tool Kit, and Bomb Kit are more or less melee range and don't standout. Elixir Gun does low damage (it isn't meant for damage ,I know), pistol does low damage more or less, mortar does low damage but has fields.
