  1. There is one achievement in particular, which requires you to do nothing but log in once per month and visit and of the cities. It rewards 3 AP, a Title, a Backpack, 12k Karma and a Celebration Booster.

If you are interested, head to the Eldvin Monastery in Queensdale and talk to Master Brewer Desch to purchase a Membership (10 gold).

Other achievements which sort of complete on your journey through Tyria are

    - Koutalophile (Spoon Collector)

    - Fine Wining

    - Fine Dining

    - Chairs of the World (just sit on every chair you find)

  2. > GW2 though, its not a full MMORPG yet either, one aspect it is missing, is Open World PvP.

    > Open World PvP is what full MMORPG's like EQ and WoW have. Something GW2 and ESO lacks to become a real full MMORPG.

Big problem for Open World PvP would be the balancing. Until this day, classes have been balanced separately for competitive and Open World. If we enable PvP with PvE balancing for just a day, we can cover the entire Crystal Desert with a 5 foot thick layer of salt.

  3. No clue what to do with mine. I only used them in Fractals, back in the days the Mistlock Singularities were not implemented.

It would be nice to have an option to exchange unused BL stuff for Statuettes, like:

    - 2x Repair Canister = 1 Statuette

    - 1x BL Salvage Kit = 2 Statuettes

    - 1x Revive Orb = 1 Statuette

With a worse exchange rate than the purchase, so we make a loss for sure. But can save bank-space without ending up deleting the item for nothing.

  4. Forum related:

Would it be possible to show the server-region below the forum avatar? Just NA or EU.

Reason is rather simple. We get a lot of questions on the boards which require this little information to be solved properly. A lot of answers are delayed, just because we first have to ask the topic-creators where they are from and then wait for a response. In several cases, the topic dies before that happens. This is quite frustrating for both sides.

  5. The 100 % representation guilds still exist, some are even more restrictive nowadays. As the others already pointed out, this is pointless BUT there are a couple of important reasons to represent a guild:

    - Access to the guild-bank of that specific guild (as @"Ardyth.9286" already found out)

    - Access to guildhall features, as they only work if you represent the guild that owns the guildhall

    - Waypoint discount. If the guild has unlocked 5, 10 or 15 % waypoint cost discount, it only applies when you represent that guild. If you feel fancy and represent another guild which does not have that upgrade unlocked, joke is on you. Is it worth it? Depends on the content and how much you play. In a year it saves me ~ 10-20 gold.

    - WvW claiming stuff, depending on the upgrades which have been unlocked in the War Room. Claiming stuff is important, as you apply Objective Auras to the place, which result in improvements for all allied players who visit it. If you have the correct rights, you are also able to use your guilds WvW storage to build upgrades at claimed objects.

    - Message of the Day (MotD). Some guilds just leave that empty, while others use everything. Some contain vital information about guild structure, discord/TS adresses, passwords. Others have helpers for dailies, with links you can just click on. If you want to refresh the MotD of a guild, just uncheck and check the representation of that guild. The MotD will instantly pop up in your guild-chat tab.

Note: I use the MotD in another way. Got myself a personal guild a few years ago, only requires 2 gold and a free guild-slot. So I can use the MotD as an ingame notepad/link collection.

  6. During Labyrinth-Farm, you want to be fast, tag as many mobs as possible and deal as little damage as possible. So any traits/gear that drastically enhance your DPS are not a good idea in general. If you run a squad with a commander who uses the meter, you may even risk getting kicked if you hit too hard.

If I had to play a Thief, I would go for this

    http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PawAUxrlNw0YgsIGJe+WpPNA-zxQUwo+tDuQKLoqLVTuCsbVAM-e

Camp Shortbow most of the time

Switch to Sword + Pistol when fighting doors with tons of trash-mobs spawning

    AoE Tagging

    - on kill

    - on critical hit

    - dodge

    - steal/mark

    - Shortbow 1, 2, 4 and 5

    - Sword 1, 3 and pistol 5

    - Heal

    - Signet of Shadows

    - Smoke Screen

    - Shadow Flare

    - Dagger Storm

Thief usually lacks AoE attacks, so we utilize the **Cloaked in Shadow** trait, which causes an AoE attack whenever you blind a foe. Thief can easily blind enemies. Some of the doors can spawn tons of mobs. If you feel you still do not hit all of them, drop a smoke field (pistol 5 or Smoke Screen) and run Dagger Storm inside.

50 % critical hit rate should be enough. I usually run full magi when doing lab farm, to avoid dealing too much damage. As a thief with shortbow, you are always among the first players to hit a mob. When the last people of the train pass by, it should still be alive. Speed Runes are costly, but allow you to run extremely fast. The efficient Labfarm trains prohibit the use of mounts. Fire Sigil causes an AoE attack upon critical hit. Superior Sigil of Mischief launches 4 snowballs on weaponswap, each of them can blind a target => cause the 5-target AoE.

Spring Roll food for Swiftness on kill.

Note: I usually run Guardian, full magi with green gear. Never had problems of dealing too little damage on tagged mobs.

[EDIT]After a small test, I decided to replace the Superior Sigil of Mischief on the Shortbow for a Superior Sigil of Speed. This solves the last issue, so you can use regular food instead of the Spring Rolls.

    > I find it very difficult to use WASD and then move my fingers to 1-5 attack keys and back to WASD. It is not intuitive for me, although my gamer son has been trying to teach me. I've always used the mouse to move while keeping my fingers on the attack keys. I'll keep at it, though.

If you feel comfortable using the mouse for movement only, there is an option for doing this always. You can do it with a regular mouse, but one with a few more buttons works better for this. In certain situations and with a couple of builds, this may even outclass a regular WASD user.

We utilize the **About Face** shortcut. Engineer, Thief and Ranger mains probably know best about this feature while the other players may not even know this thing exists. **About Face** switches your movement by 180 ° = you turn around.

    ![](https://i.imgur.com/fqCWtn6.jpg "")

On a mouse-only setup for movement, you can bind the mouse-wheel click on the About Face shortcut. You always have a finger on the wheel anyway, so turning around can be done quickly. If you have more buttons to use, **Dodge** and **Move Backwards** can also be bound to such a button. Then you can pretty much ignore WASD and completely focus on your skillbar (with the other hand).

What is the regular purpose of **About Face**?

A few classes in this game have some special movement skills that work like a dodge backwards. Examples:

    - Thief Shortbow (3) - Disabling Shot

    - Ranger Shortbow (3) - Quickshot

    - Engineer Elixir Gun (4) - Acid Bomb and the old version of Rocket Boots (pre 25th June 2013)

So if those classes want to use the skills to move forward, they just press **About Face**, use the skill and press **About Face** again.

  8. Guildwars 2 has a lot more to offer than just fire and ice. The gap between solo Open World PvE and Raiding surely is wide, but there is a lot in between. The entire focus on pre-designed rotations which have to be memorized and exectued as correctly as possible is an overkill for most of the content. In Raiding and similar content it has its authority, it is the most efficient and fastest way of playing that content with as little risk to fail as possible.

    Dungeons

Not as outdated as they may seem at first. It is still viable content with plenty of useful rewards. Still an option to gear your characters, unlock nice skins and make money. Thanks to the powercreep of the past years, everything goes. As long as you do not end up in a speed-clear group, you can play the class you want with the skills and move-set you feel comfortable with. Opposite to Raids, this content does not utilize time-limit fights. You can balance your character and find the perfect solution for yourself, weighting damage-output and survival. Players can use the mentioned optimized builds and rotations, but it does not give any real advantage. The speedrunners often ignore most of the NPCs and even some of the bosses, which results in a massive drop of loot. But if you run the Dungeons with a normal group, you can have a lot of fun and experience the pros of group-content without feeling the stress and pressure you have mentioned. You may come across some optimized players who live by the raid philosophy though, they almost 1-shot everything. Watching this is quite ridiculous. Like bringing a Lamborghini to a bike-race. This content was designed without any of these abominations in mind. It works great with normal builds and normal groups.

    Fractals

Especially T1 and T2 are very player-friendly. Difficulty and loot increase with the increase of the Fractal Level, but within those two tiers you are pretty much on Dungeon difficulty. It is a little tougher, but the mechanics are still quite forgiving and allow improvisation.

Joining a guild which has a relaxed point of view on this is definitely a good idea. There are guilds out there which fit into that description and do group-content frequently. After 8 years, I highly recommend guild-runs over so called PUG runs (using the LFG). Dungeons are a perfect point to start, especially the Story Dungeons. Then try on the basic exploration paths and probably give the first fractals a try. The group-content is definitely worth trying. Just make sure to make small and easy steps. If you feel overwhelmed, slow down a little. Pick a class you feel comfortable with, which you know well and utilize its abilities by intuition.

  9. Having a true bard-class for once would be a welcome change, we already do have the Minstrel stats anyway. Mesmer and Revenant are both the proof that a melee weapon can be used as a ranged-weapon (GS and Hammer), so why should we not utilize the Longbow in a new way?

I like the idea, the reference to TF2 xD and even slightly the music you have picked to present us your idea. It does look weird at first, but considering all the entries for Elite Specilaizations we already had, it may even work out somehow. I mean, in Path of Fire we received a futuristic holographic laser class wielding a Lightsaber. It is pretty difficult to come up with something more crazy than this. Yet the Holosmith was a success.

If we get something like that, I hope for a good armor skin as well. Something that fits the banjo.

  10. Every day I pick three tasks, which are in my opinion the fastest/easiest and write them into our MotD with a small description how it is done. Then I do them on my own and a few personal dailies, which are not linked to official tasks. It is a good start into the day, especially when you have to wake up early. Good to boot up the brain with simple tasks.

In the evening, I log again and complete the neccessary dailies, which I need to achieve my short- and long-term goals. When I have more freetime, e.g. in the weekends or during vacation, I sometimes spend an extended period of time to do all the dailies I am interested in. This includes the LW dailies, WvW, as well as a few gatherings and crafts.

The dailies keep my days structured, help me with the little time I have. I can pick what I want to do and decide when to stop. The daily 2 gold are really helpful. I do not mind about the AP I do no longer get.

What I do not like about the dailies:

    - When there is daily Activity Participation on the list, it is very often Crab Toss

    - Forged With Fire (Hound Master) and Maws of Torment (Demolisher) are the only daily worldbosses from PoF. Other meta-events from other maps and HoT never appear.

    - Taskmaster because the name is rather confusing.

    - When HoT adventures are in the dailies, you have to do a certain one. When PoF adventures are in the dailies, you can pick one you like.

The Festival Dailies are nice. They add a little variety to the repetitive structure of the regular dailies, offering special rewards and interesting tasks. So far I think, with the development of the past 8 years in mind, the current system is the best.

PS: Thanks for the Weekly Raids section.

    > Will there be new dungeons in guild wars 2? I think it would be fun to have more dungeons.

Would like to see more dungeons, but there is no market for this content at the moment. The target audience for instanced content leans towards short instances with as little sections as possible as possible, more "challenging" encounters and completion times < 10 minutes. Dungeons usually are made with a story around, some deeper lore with dialogues, several sections connected with each other via different encounters or puzzles.

Next to Fractals, the closest we got towards the old dungeon blueprint is the Strike Mission: Forging Steel. It is fun to play if you want to go on an adventure. It can even be done solo, as the scaling is really good. Either Dungeons or more of this, please.

    > Also my character likes to eat strawberry poptart or something. So far my favorite dungeon is crucible of eternity cause it looks cool.

    >

    > Anyone else got a favorite dungeon, food to eat while in a dungeon, or want ne dungeons added?

I really enjoy the Story Dungeons, but my favorite of those is definitely HoTW. It has a challenging difficulty curve, with a couple of funny traps. For the Exploration Paths, it is sadly COF 1. It contains the first secret boss I discovered in GW2 and sparked the motivation in me to search for more - the Royal Ooze. Common knowledge nowadays, the first group I persuaded to take the extra trip was quite shocked it really existed. Sadly, nowadays I cannot even go for it with guild runs anymore.

Whenever I do content that does not require special food effects, I go with a simple combination of Peppermint Omnomberry Bar and Sharpening Skull with a combined effect of:

    + 20 % Exp from Kills

    + 60 % Magic Find

    + 40 % Gold from NPCs

    + 10 % Karma

I usually carry one stack of each, which lasts several weeks. If you are on budget, but want some acceptable alternative, you can go for Lump of Crystallized Nougat and Piece of Candy Corn Almond Brittle.

Note: Halloween 2020 is around the corner, which normally lets those two and the Sharpening Skull massively drop in price.

  12. Core Tyria was designed long before the mount system was introduced, with another playstyle in mind. Even permanent swiftness was not really a thing back then. So as a result, those maps have a lot of Waypoints, which shrink the size. The main reason for the raptor is to travel long distances quickly, which is sort of an overkill in Core Tyria.

I would rather like to see the Warclaw being repurposed as a starter-mount. The Warclaw was originally designed for the WvW with a cosmetic appearance in PvE. But thanks to all the balances, the mount became sort of a meme in WvW. They removed its speed, power and a lot of its versatility. In PvE it is the most basic of all mounts, it walks a little faster than a player, can dodge, is resistant to crowd-control and that is it. That fits perfectly for a core-tyria mount. Not as powerful as the PoF versions, not too fast to break the immersion, but still useful for exploration.

Make it a basic mount that can be unlocked in Lion's Arch for your first character, for a small cat-related collection around the city. Plus a fee of 1-3 gold and a few leather materials for the saddle. Then you have a basic mount you can use on all your characters in PvE. For the WvW version, you still need to do the original tasks.

As for the glider, which is also part of the expansion-locked issue, we could us the parachute from the Medizooka. Which is basically a heavily downgraded glider. Without the blaster, it fits perfectly for Core Tyria without ruining the real gliders from HoT.

  13. The Cured Thick Leather Sections/Squares crafting-reduction was requested a couple of times in the past. I would like to have the droprates of leather materials increased or the amount of NPCs, which can drop leather-materials. Maybe adding the material to a certain NPC category, which usually does not drop it, but does not cause much irritation if it does. Bandits for example, which are literally wearing leather-armor. We have tons of Bandits in many maps, within all level ranges. This could significantly increase the supply of all leather-materials and probably lead to lower prices for the Elonian Leather Squares. Those are highly demanded for all three armor-weights and are used as the key-material for ascended medium armor. Maybe not a huge impact on the Cured Thick Leather Sections, but a combined effect on all ingredients.

  14. Note: This is not a meta-build. It is obviously inferior compared to any meta-build and can never reach similar levels of efficiency. If you are looking for good build to play as an Elementalist, please visit snowcrows, discretize.eu and lucky-noobs.com or just google "GW2 Elementalist meta build."

I have recently read a couple of discussions on this board regarding Elementalist. Some people claiming this class to be the most difficult in the entire game, where you need years of intense training to master it. I do have my issues with the class as well, so I gave it a new try. The task was to create an Elementalist which can survive without swapping elements. Utilizing one of the neglected rune-sets in the game, which are considered trash.

    http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PGgAg2lJwAZMsF2JOUPftfA-zRRYiJNN4gLkMTgIKgeDCXmFAX2A-e

We basically camp the Fire Attunement, utilize the Rune of Fire and maintain almost 100 % uptime of Fire Aura. This rune-set grants + 10 % damage while having Fire Aura. The aura itself grants 1 stack of might on you and 1 stack of burning on every foe that hits you.

    **What causes Fire Aura?**

    - You start combat (no internal cooldown)

    - Focus 5

    - Overload Fire Attunement after the attack = it is wise to cast an Aura right before you press that button, so you benefit from the +10 % damage boost.

    - Feel the Burn (Utility 9)

    - Summon Conjoure Flame Axe (Utility 7)

    - Summon Conjoure Firey Greatsword (Elite 9)

    - Flame Leap (Fire Axe 5) on a Fire Field

    - Picking up the 2nd Flame Axe from the ground

    - Picking up the 2nd Firey Greatsword from the ground

    **What causes a Fire Field?**

    - Dagger 3 Burning Speed = rushing forward, creates a line of fire

    - Focus 4 Flame Wall = creates a line of fire, ground target

    - Flame Axe 3 Burning Retreat = Burning Speed reverse, creates line of fire

    - Flame Axe 4 Ring of Fire

    - Overload Fire

    **About the Conjoure Flame Axe**

    - before using auto-attack, you should always use one of the other skills = results in throwing two axes instead of one

    - Explosive Lava Axe (Flame Axe 2) on a Fire Field causes Area-Might

    - Flame Leap (Flame Axe 5) should always be used when ready, always on a Fire Field

    **How does sustain work?**

    - If you use the diviner's trinkets as suggested, every application of a Fire Aura results in 4s Protection. Protection cuts your incoming damage by 40 %. So if you create a Fire Aura every ~ 4 seconds, you can maintain permanent Protection.

    - Every Fire Aura you apply, heals you for 522 HP.

    - Every Fire Aura cleanses 1 condition from you.

    - Every Fire Aura stacks up Vigor and Regeneration = both will be permanently up.

    - Sigil of Energy will provide you with even more endurance, so you can dodge a lot.

    Notes:

    - Focus 5 can detonate Fire Aura to cause damage. You can use it right before the aura runs out anyway and then cast another after that.

    - Gear can be replaced. You can play it on full Berzerker's, Grieving or other combos you use. Keep in mind replacing the Diviner's pieces will result in a drop of boon-duration, which affects Protection and Might uptime.

    - Conditions are no problem. CC however is a bit critical, as your only stun-break is Eye of the Storm. This is where the 1-Element challenge reaches its limits.

Tested the build in HoT and PoF, it works. You cannot turn the squishy Elementalist into a tank, even with 40 % damage reduction most attacks still hurt a lot. But the theme is quite funny (imo), as you can play as a fire avatar. Looking forward to some comments, ideas, suggestions, improvements or just tell me how bad it is. Thanks for reading!

  15. This was by far the best line my character said. I honestly feel that way whenever we encounter yet another world-peace-threatening super powerful villain that appeared out of no-where but somehow was scripted into our story-line from the beginning. My reaction when they announced End of Dragons will perfectly fit into the story and everything we did before was written to just lead to this development: Oh really, again?

I am so glad my character finally reacts in the same way. I would also like to see an Indiana Jones like move (Last Crusade, that 1-shot of the guy with the sword on the market-place) on the next arch villain that claims to kill us for good. Every opponent, every NPC literally treats us like we left the Village of Shaemoor 5 minutes ago, but calls us Commander for some weird reason.

Another detail I really enjoyed, ignoring a comm-call when you are busy. Since Taimi gave us this cursed device, how many unnecessary calls did we have?

  16. - Boon/stat/exp-gain reward if you decide to run a regular party instead of a squad. (min. requirement 3 participants)

    - Remove GOB from WvW. Give us a PvE reward track similar to the ones in Drizzlewood Coast.

    - Remove Warclaw from WvW, give it a real purpose in PvE (e.g. climbing walls) + an idle animation playing with a ball of wool.

    - Add a boon that increases reward track progress by 1 % for every different class you have in your squad. We have 9 classes = +9 % reward track progress possible.

    - Add another boon that gives +1 % more, when you managed to balance your squad. Boon disappears when one profession takes more than 10 % of your squad-population.

    - Slaying the same enemy player more then three times in 10 minutes, they will no longer grant kill progress or generate loot for you for 1 hour.

    - Unclaimed camps give you -1 supply on pickup every 5 minutes they remain unclaimed. Minimum = 2. Cooldown to grab more supply = 5 seconds. PrOfFeSsIoNaLs Do NoT cLaIm CaMpS

    - Using a Finisher has a 50 % chance to get more badges/loot. If the progress bar was 50% or higher when the target dies, the Finisher counts as landed = participation on the kill is granted.

  17. Power Wrench does not affect the Elite Toolbelt skill and Tool-Kit does not refer to the toolbelt skills. A good replacement would be Static Dischrage, with its 1,200 range it works great with your build.

An option you can also try is Firearms => Juggernaut. Most people only read half of the tooltip of this trait and then turn away. It does extend the might duration by 20 % though. So equipping it, may result in more permanent might stacks and probably faster stacking process = more area-damage.

A nice method to trigger Kinetic Battery a little faster is to replace the heal with Med Kit and use the Toolbelt instead. The healing amount is slightly lower than the elixir, but recharge with Tools traitline is 17 seconds - which is insane for a major heal-skill.

A weird but funny option to stack a ton of swiftness (up to ~ 6 minutes) is to use Spring Rolls once in a while. You can switch to better food once the swiftness is stacked. Another great food that works well with Explosive Entrance is Bowl of Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew. Not that cheap, but compensates the lack of Adrenal Implant.

It is a nice build. I will definitely try it. Thanks for sharing ^^

  18. The people in WvW I sometimes encounter when doing the dailies. We see each others, we know we are from different servers. But we both want that daily done and decide to not engage in a pointless fight. The WvW community often claims, they want fights, but sadly a lot of them just want easy kills. PvE players doing their dailies are by far the easiest kills you can get, next to AFKers. I did a couple of daily veterans where we had two and one time even three different servers camping, no one harming the other and leaving the area peacefully after the NPC was slain. Also a couple of daily monuments where we were taking turns while the other one was waiting.

The players who just finished a Hero Point, see others arrive and stay for the 2nd round maybe even a 3rd round, just to lend a hand.

The players who pop a United Legions Waystation at bossfights/bounties. As well as those who take down the breakbar almost alone with bundles.

Those who get those 1-shot glass-cannons up again and again and again and again, sometimes leaving the event with barely silver or copper participation thanks to that.

The players who play with an open wiki tab, responding friendly and helpful to even trivial questions in mapchat.

  19. Daily achievements

    ![](https://i.imgur.com/5gCF3tM.jpg "")

It does not pop up that often, but it is part of the dailies already. The dungeons do rotate as well, the reward contains 100 dungeon currencies and 1 Tome of Knowledge. Just scroll down the wiki-page.

Strike Missions also have a weekly schedule with a daily recommendation + extra rewards. Same goes for Fractals. Raids however miss this feature entirely. Could be added, either in the way of Dungeons or in the way of Strikemissions/Fractals.

    EDIT: That was quick, thanks!
