  2. When I saw the title of this thread I thought I'd stumbled into the Mesmer forum for a minute.

This gave me a good laugh.

Yep, that's what I've been trying. Good to know I'm in the ballpark. > @"Veprovina.4876" said: > Also, if you're failing to pull somoene, that might be because they have Stability on or they dodged. I have successfully pulled one time and it was so satisfying :) I'll keep at it. I'll keep in mind the advice given here. Is anyone else really, really, REALLY tired of all the complaints about anet hating Mesmers? As a new WvW player I almost didn't even try because of all the negative posts. I understand the frustration, but either find a solution or switch to another profession. So, I tried and found some posts with helpful comments, worked out a build and playstyle I like and am having a good time in WvW. Yeah, I wish we were OP like Thieves, but you use what you got. Thanks again for the helpful replies.

Thank you for a hearty laugh.
  6. > @"Sylvyn.4750" said: > Anyone else have the issue when mounting up that you see the generic Warclaw skin for a second before it morphs into one of your updated skins? For reference I have the Saberclaw and Sand Lion skins that I use. I guess it's loading the basic stats for the Warclaw first and then changing the skin out a second later. Yeah, I need to upgrade my potato rig, so maybe the delay is on my end, but it's weird they would even program it to always load the basic skin before swapping it out. This happens on other mounts for me, maybe all of them. I haven't kept a list, but it's not unique to Warclaw or WvW. It's probably a graphics or lag issue, like when you WP to a place and it takes a second or two for the terrain and structures to show up.

Ah, so both but leaning toward allies. Thanks.

If you want HoT masteries, select one mastery from HoT, then when you use that item it'll give you XP for that mastery track. I did read the wiki page; it's always my first stop when I have questions. A wider web search didn't give me an answer either, but you did. Thanks.

Wow. A blast from the past.
  10. OP is right. I just got my Warclaw and noticed how it's like driving a 1950s Massey Ferguson. Another issue I have is when I'm running and mount up, it usually takes a sharp turn of at least 90 degrees but up to 180. That is at minimum frustrating, and at worst has lead to my death several times when trying to escape a group. I think it's the WvW maps that is the problem. I tested the Warclaw and other mounts in Tyria and did not have these problems.
  11. OP, I can relate. I only started WvW a few weeks ago. There's a steep learning curve if you're on your own and I do not want to join a guild at this time. So I went through what you are now. There's good info in this thread and some others on this board. Since I'm new, I can't offer any sage advice from experience, but I do have some thought coming from freshly getting started. Someone told me that time matters in WvW. It's not a 24 hour thing. There are peaks and troughs in activity for each server. Figure out when the peaks are and try to play during that time. I just started roaming. I died a lot and that's frustrating. Before you get the Warclaw, running back over and over gets tedious. The mount makes that more tolerable so I highly recommend making that your first priority. You are going to get stomped a lot and likely ticked off because of it, but that's part of learning. Don't let it get to you. Roam around, do dailies and easy stuff like killing cows and taking sentry points. Both are doable solo and give WXP. Link up with any group you see. Just follow them and contribute as much as you can. If there's a commander and the squad is open, join it. Discord or other voice comms help but I haven't used any yet. Some will say they are absolutely necessary, but they aren't. Some commanders might insist, though. That's up to you. Tailor your build to the mode. There are plenty of sites with examples and suggestions. Also, there is a lot of info out there on how to allocate your World Ability Points. Without doubt, #1 should be Warclaw Mastery. If a map has a queue, get in it. That means the map is populated, meaning more opportunities. While you're waiting, go into another map. Chances are even the maps without queues are pretty full, too. I've done that several times and when I got the join message, I have always declined because I found myself in an active group in the map I was in. Just play and don't keep watching your exp bars. If you can find a way to have a good time while you're learning, the XP will advance quicker than you think.
  12. I sympathize with OP. I've been playing GW2 since pre-launch with a few breaks here and there. I just started WvW in the last week or so, mainly to get the Warclaw. That empty slot in my mounts panel finally got to me. Where I differ is that I enjoy WvW when I can link up with either a small group or a zerg. Soloing is just no fun. The problem is finding others as a new player with a lot to learn. I started a thread on it and got a lot of good info and this thread also has been helpful. For instance, I could not figure out why some NPCs were invulnerable. Now I know. Randulf is right on, along with others. WvW has a seep learning curve and it's going to be frustrating for new players. However, as I've played more (I'm at a whopping level 11!) I learn more and it gets less frustrating.
  13. > @"kamikharzeeh.8016" said: > > @"Sarpan.9074" said: > > I am new to WvW and playing it mainly for the Warclaw for now. I'm about half-way through the reward track and have put some points into defensive abilities to help a little with surviving as a low-level player. I am thinking about resetting points and moving them to the Warclaw track when I get it. If resetting removes all points, does that affect the Warclaw since the point in its mastery goes away? > > btw this defense-offense points from the "wvw-masteries" only affect your combat dmg output and bulk against NPCs. just seek some roaming classes and add up with them. > > the level / rank only gives u better loot income. wvw masteries are mainly for abilites to use the stuff like sieges, supply, glider, warclaw (while it has not much use outside of the standard faster run) > > u gain ranks btw faster when using guild wxp buff and regular XP boosters (when running with zergs). depending on your class you can join zergs always, just have enough panic buttons. most classes have enough of those, that way u get a quite good farm by just clouding around a zerg as newbie. Good info. Thanks. Linking up with groups, well, finding them in the first place is being a challenge for me as a starter. I actually addressed that separately. Maybe I should have done it in one thread with a WvW noob motif. :) https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/comment/1391628#Comment_1391628 The few times I've been able to link up with a small group at, say, a camp or a zerg at a keep, things go pretty well. I just need to get better at finding them.
  14. I hadn't thought about the time zone issue. I'll look into that. Whenever I see a commander's tag I do what I can to join up with their group. That works for me. However, I don't see tags often and the time thing might account for that.
