I'm still of the mindset that Tyria itself is "mother", and the final Elder Dragon. Jormag mentioned that The Balance doesn't exist, yet the EDs don't fight each other over food. Every ED seems to absolutely avoid each other like the plague, yet can use each other's magic when one dies. They either seem content with their territories, or they're more scared of something else dealing with them if they fight amongst themselves. Assuming that my theory is correct, it makes sense that they could use each other's magic, they're all essentially siblings from the same mother, and also explains why they don't seem to want to leave Tyria, even after being able to enter the Mists. Children tend not to stray too far from their parent after all.

Perhaps we should be looking elsewhere for the Legend. Assuming they don't go for one from Factions, then let's look at other heroes. Perhaps Prince Rurik, Trahearne (just to troll the playerbase), or maybe even Snaff could work?

    > I can't be the only one that would prefer EoD comes out with mechanics that effect all professions, like a sixth weapon skill vs adding new elite specs.

The only weapon I would accept is Cestus/Fist weapons. That's right, I want us to be able to punch out an Elder Dragon. It'd fit a lot of professions pretty easily, and the animations could look pretty cool overall. Examples could include an Ele uppercutting an enemy with a giant stone fist, Rangers clawing at an enemy like a wild animal, or Guardians doing "aura pulses" from their palm to pierce an enemy with an unblockable attack.

  4. I've always loved ranged classes, so I chose Ranger to start out with. Stuck through it with the horrors of at launch Orr (where the pet grabbed aggro by existing) that had double the amount of mobs it has now, all of LS1, and up until HoT. Once I got in Heart of Thorns though...I was basically destroyed by enemies I wanted nothing to do with and ended up dropping it for a good long time for Thief/Daredevil, whose stealth and evasion helped me survive at launch HoT and LS3 and PoF. I recently got into raiding, and picked up my Ranger again who is now serving as a Druid and healer for my raid group, so I'm happy I'm playing him again. I still play my Daredevil for the story and open world stuff though.

    > If they add spears to above ground combat, they better not waste it on a single elite spec.

If they add spears, I suspect most of the professions will get it. I'm personally hoping for cestus or fist weapons, but that's only because I want to punch out an Elder Dragon, as well as get more of that awesome hand to hand combat I got a taste of with the Daredevil spec on Thief.

  6. I'm going to throw a curve ball in here...Tengu Ranger (Druid for HoT and who becomes a Revenant around the end of LS3) who has personal ties to Trahearne (possibly friends who met somewhere). Why? This prevents the stepping on toes for PS choices, and also gives a good reason for why they'd accept him as the Commander. He's not a part of any Order before this point, but because of Trahearne's personal recommendation along with them witnessing him taking down a Dragon Champion, they're perfectly fine with it.

By being a Ranger, it gives him a "link" to the magical forces of nature and could give a bit of a "sixth sense" to when dragon minions attack outside of Orr, allowing him to sense them (inside Orr of course would be difficult, due to the amount of corruption there). Druid would strengthen his connection to the forces of nature, something he'd need desperately in Maguuma due to everything trying to kill him in there. Learning the basics of Revenant shortly after the end of HoT from Rytlock, it builds off his connection to nature, giving him a connection to the Mists themselves and expanding his repertoire of magical energy uses, something we see the Commander do quite a bit in LS3. His learning of some of the new magic skills from LS3 would coincide with his gaining experience as a Revenant and his already extensive knowledge as a Druid.

Revenant would be fully mastered by the time PoF is entered, making specific events feel like they flow better. I won't go into much more after that due to how spoilerific everything from PoF on is, and you basically get the gist at this point.

    > As someone who started playing only a few years ago, these are so weird to see! What's the little blue ^ icon in some of @Veprovina.4876 screenshots? Is that what the hero point icon used to look like?! :open_mouth:

Correct, that is exactly what they used to look like, but they were known as Skill points back then. We used to have to use Skill Points to buy all our class skills instead of hero points to get it all off a trait ring. Trait books used to be bought from class trainers to teach us the various tiers of traits.

Though that theory could hold water as to why "the balance" doesn't exist. It may just be that too much energy going off would wake "mother" and just lead to destruction from her moving around, leading to the EDs mere existence being to regulate the magical energy so she doesn't wake up. Which would also explain why the Human Gods left, it would be something that would make their mere presence there a serious threat to everything that exists on Tyria.

I knew I was forgetting something. "Mother" still makes my mind race to possibilities to what it could be, and I have a tendency to jump to plausible yet easily shut down theories because I always forget a detail or two.

I'm concerned as well...what if she gives him the idea to write a book with us and Rytlock as lovers!? I mean, there's been more than enough things to happen to nod to it, but I don't think we want the entirety of Tyria thinking we're an item. On second thought...the Commander and Rytlock's reactions might actually be worth seeing from that.

  11. What happened is they had their own Industrial Revolution without Flame Legion or the need of gods holding them back. With their need for weapons for war (since they have largely been a war-centric race), it was only natural they would innovate and industrialize eventually, similar to how humans have done so in the real world in the past. Higher efficiency, better quality, and pretty much an arms race to keep them ahead of the other races should war with them ever occur.

I would imagine we will be seeing a charr civil war in the Blood Legion Homelands. Possibly with Bangar being defeated, licking his wounds and eventually running to Jormag to be corrupted.

    >

    > I agree they're building up to a civil war of some kind, but I have a hard time coming up with a place/motivation for it that makes sense. Bangar is already the Imperator of Blood Legion, and the rank and file don't have much reason to revolt yet, so I don't see why they would be fighting in their own lands unless the other Legions are the aggressors. Maybe he declares himself Khan-Ur and tries to rally the footsoldiers of the other Legions to join him, so the remaining Charr from the other Legions... attack? I don't know, it doesn't really gel together for me. This seems like something Bangar might do, but I don't know if the other Legions would actually *invade* Blood territory over this, rather than simply try to keep a tighter grip on their soldiers and prepare their defenses while spreading their own propaganda.

I think the answer is simpler than you think. Crecia has seen what Bangar has done. She may end up revealing what he's doing to Blood Legion, announcing he's unfit to be Imperator and must be taken out of power. This would lead to infighting between those in Blood who believe that Bangar is a threat to the high legions themselves, and those who agree with him. We have our Civil War, without the other legions getting involved.

It read more like he let the sword's power go to his head.

Sadly you don't even need to do the mechanics. I was in a group about 30 minutes ago that completed the boss without doing a single mechanic, just because of how powerful our heals were.

    *pulls on tinfoil hat*

Did Lyssa actually leave? Or was it one of the twins with an illusion of the other sister?

    > Ok so lets challenge your mentality here. They promise expansion level content, release a prologue that looks REALLY promising and then episode 1 comes out and is smaller in both story and scope than the Prologue. It is separated into two episodes spanned acrossed three months apart roughly, so its like reading a chapter of a book and once half way through it you get stopped and asked to not read again for three months.

    >

    > To top that off we have received nothing expansion level in scope, No E-specs, no new toys or real masteries (The raven one feels like a S3 mastery that will be abandoned in the near future.) Fractals, raids, WvW, PvP have all been begging for content and are ignored and strikes (The new ones not the first one) have no exclusive rewards so due to the acheivo if you even care about it makes it a One and done. All the weapons and all the achievements in the new map are super fast, super easy to get and take no challenge or even real focus to be obtained.

Let me bold the important part for you.

    > If norn society was really that strict about "failure", we would have seen something similar with Eir earlier. Did she get any backlash for "failing" to kill Kralkatorrik besides from Zojja and her own selfblame? I don't think so. Quite the opposite, she was well respected. Norn may be painted as rather simplistic and straight forward, but they are not stupid and I am sure they should be able to tell what was Braham's doing and what wasn't.

She DID get banished for failing to kill the Dragonspawn at first, which retaliated and attacked Hoelbrak. That was her big failure. Right now they're shaping up Braham to be like Eir, so I fully expect him to succeed in dealing with Jormag in some form, and being welcomed back by the Norn. Perhaps by finding a way to fight back Jormag's mental corruption.
