I'm not sure what you expect. Did you want your player character to turn to the camera and be like "You see, I would spend a lot more time around here helping the little guys, but I am so emotionally drained that I can't bother, I really need to sacrifice some of the small things in order to put all my remaining energy into killing the big baddie causing most the problems"

Your "explanation" is THE ENTIRE STORY UP TO THIS POINT!

  2. I really wish that every major city could have its own festival.

Divinities Reach has Wintersday and the Lunar New Year. Rata Sum has SAB. Lion's Arch has halloween.

The Grove, Hoelbrak, and the Black Citadel should each have something special as well.

  3. It didn't take much for me to learn things. And often I was able to figure things out without being told. So I really don't understand why people seem to have much of a problem with things. And outside resources are standard for large games. It is very difficult for the game to explain every little thing about it. Although there are some things that Anet should do a better job of teaching, like defiance bars.

But part of playing an MMO is having other people to ask questions of and receive help from. You may have had bad experiences with a few guild but I am really curious about how you joined these guilds. Requiring ascended sounds like a group doing fractals or raids, in which case that is reasonable for them to require before you can join them. If it was a guild you joined through map spam did you read the spam message? Did it say what level of experience they expect of players. Not every guild is meant for newbies, and that is perfectly okay, many guilds are based around the late-game content. There is plenty of helpful guilds out there.

The best guilds are the ones you find and join organically. My main guild is from a world boss they run and I regularly attended, so eventually one day after the event and they said they were looking for members, I joined. Everyone is friendly and helpful. And now that I am a pretty knowledgeable person I put it forward and am friendly and open to helping people.

If they could make it only work in fractals and raids that would be nice. Since people staying dead and upscaling events (or being dead in places that get other's killed if anyone tries rezzing them) can be a big problem.

  5. To add onto my own suggestion, could there be some way anet could make it more well known that standing around the middles gives you regen. I hate seeing people die over and over when they could have just healed up occasionally and not had to waste time waiting on waypointing. People don't seem to pay attention to what others are saying so times I have tried to tell people falls on deaf ears.

  6. So not everyone knows this, but there is a limit to how many things can be build in Toypocalypse. When this limit is hit, any new thing built will despawn the earliest thing built. This could mean someone placing a snowman could despawn a fully upgraded catapult.

I keep having instances where people will join and start building a whole lot all on one side, this ends up despawning all the defenses on the opposite side. I have tried telling people when I see them going over the limit but my words are rarely listened to. I feel some kind of indicator bar on the screen showing how close the instance is to having the maximum number of placed defenses might help this a little bit. It would at least let people know there is a limit so they don't spam build a million things and neglect upgrading what is already placed.

  7. I hardly think these are things people would quit playing the game over not having access to. Anyone who is going to be bummed out over a small bonus to the point that they stop playing a game entirely (a game that they are not paying for even) is not someone I would worry too much about.

I do feel that a bank and/or black lion merchant should be available in the guild hall. But I guess they want a reason to keep making people go back to major cities.

I think most the frustration is that people don't take the time to learn and get frustrated because their land build isn't working underwater.

    > The problem is that it seems that unless I'm Ranger or Necro, it sucks.

    > Every spirit on Revenant should work underwater. All of them.

Yeah, there are classes that get the short end of the stick. And there are many things that don't work underwater without any reason why they shouldn't. To add to your list of classes that aren't in dire need of the changes would be engi. I actually do fairly well with my engi when underwater. Warrior isn't too horrible either but the skills need rebalanced to do appropriate damage, currently it feels like poking things with a toothpick, the skills themselves are okay but the damage they do needs kicked up. Ranger is also not too horrible, with a similar problem to the warrior where skills don't feel like they do the right amounts of damage but it tilts more to the side of "not enough skills for underwater"

Rev probably needs the most work from what I have heard, but I haven't gotten around to playing one yet personally.

  9. About underwater: I personally feel a lot of people don't bother to explore their underwater skills and find out what they do. You can't play underwater the same way you would play on land. I think most the frustration is that people don't take the time to learn and get frustrated because their land build isn't working underwater.

With that said, Anet really needs to rebalance the skills to make sure they are doing appropriate amounts of damage and revisit which skills are available underwater to allow more flexibility. Many classes get their abilities cut nearly in half because the lack of things they can use.

An underwater balance patch and some more skills converted to underwater is really all that needs done.

  10. To people saying "well his mother died" I would like to point out that it's been 2 years since she died. He really shouldn't still be displaying such reckless and erratic behavior over it. I know deaths take time to get over, but he should have gotten past the "act like an ass to everyone" stage of grief and moved onto some new stage by now at least. And the fact that no one seems to be stepping up and telling him to knock this shit off is why he continues acting like this. Apparently the commander and every NPC in our ragtag group have zero backbone. Rox makes only half baked attempts to bring him to reason, but at least she tried (sorta).

Someone needs to sit him down and give him a major talking to about his behavior. He needs to look at the bigger picture before he really messes everything up.

Hell, even in the latest instance when the commander tried to make nice by showing appreciation for his help he passes it off as "instincts kicked in" as if he didn't actually mean to save us. Rox tried to smooth it over by mentioning how much we have saved him and all he does is grunt.

I don't know if I would say I want to kill him. But I *really* want to punch him in the face.

  11. So I have filed bug reports in game about this but nothing seems to have come of it.

I have been having a problem when I am transformed into a crab for the crab scuttle race where the water in southsun collides with the camera, forcing my view to be zoomed in super close under the edge of the water. This makes it impossible to actually see where I am going at all: an important feature when trying to do a race mission.

I am not the only person who has this problem but it doesn't seem to do it for everyone either.

This is what my screen looks like any time I touch water while a crab (black boxes for privacy):
